Glad to hear we're picking up some more attendees. Jadow- bring the "boss" if necessary. The hotel is a cool place to just chill out. BTW- I was coming into Summerville on Bacon's Bridge Road about 1 PM Sunday and met ~50 sport bikes headed out towards highway 61. Most appeared to be wearing authentic squid riding gear (full faced helmets, shorts, tanktops, and flipflops) but there did appear to be an ATGATT couple on a sweet black/red XB12R. Anybody know what the event was? |

That group returned near 10pm. I was traveling on 526 and the group sound got my ear's attention...kinda cool....I bet they were feeling cold in short! Have not heard what event or what group. |

Hey, just a curiosity. How is the weather in SC now and for the summer? Been gone to long to fully remember (was in Augusta, GA for a year and a half before going to Colorado Springs). |

Ryan- up until this week, it's been amazing. Lows in the 60's most nights, highs generally in the low 80's with a few days higher. It's been the nicest June for riding that I can remember. Looks like things return to normal this weekend though, with 100+ deg. F temperatures, at least here in the lowcountry. They're actually calling for a high of 106 deg. F (!!!) on Saturday. Generally you can expect lows in the 70's and highs in the 90's for the rest of the summer with the humidity hovering around 90% RH. You might want to spend some time in a steam bath before you move down. |

I am not much into long distance riding, Is it o.k. to make reservations at the Skyline Village Inn,drive my truck up with the Buell in the back. unload. have fun riding then return in the truck with bike? I have not attended this gathering before. Don't know if the Inn is the starting place and you guys ride and stay somewhere else every night, or make the Inn Home base and return every night. Give me some in sight. Thanks |

Jadow- Last year we just stayed at Skyline. It's a good central place to a bunch of twisty roads. It's ~1/4 mile from the Blue Ridge Parkway. It's on 226A, which is a VERY twisty road that leads down the mountain. There are several good riding loops you can make from the hotel. Zoom out and/or scroll around from here and you can see what's available: https://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en& geocode=&q=little+switzerland,+nc&aq=&sll=35.87830 5,-80.36258&sspn=1.793691,3.820496&ie=UTF8&hq=&hne ar=Little+Switzerland,+McDowell,+North+Carolina&z= 15 You can make a loop of 226A and the slightly less twisty 226, which according to google, is a ~16 mile, ~30 minute loop. Ride it one way, then ride it the other way for some variety. You can ride 226 down towards Marion, take 70 west a few miles, then turn north on highway 80 (Buck Creek Road) and ride up to the Parkway, then take the Parkway back to the hotel. That's a ~40 mile, ~1 hour loop according to google. The upper portion of 80 approaching the Parkway is one of the twistiest roads I've ridden- STEEP climb with hard switchbacks. It's cool as hell. We explored some more obscure back roads last year using a GPS, which made for an interesting route. We took 80 ~10 miles north of the Parkway, then turned east on a random road, and followed miscellaneous back roads until we wound up back in "downtown" Little Switzerland. You can go miles on the Parkway in either direction, and almost any side road has good twisties. The hotel has a covered parking area in the back (along with washing supplies if you're into that), a well-stocked store (best beer selection in ~100 miles), a nice restaurant, and a couple of deck areas where you can sit outside and see half of North Carolina down the mountain. There are a couple of other good restaurants within just a mile or 2. It's a cool place to hang out. Like I said, if you can't get a pass from the boss, bring her with you. |

BTW- anybody know of a good deal on a used, small extended cab pickup? Ford Ranger, Chevy S-10 or Colorado, Nissan Frontier, Toyota Tacoma, etc. My wife and daughter T-boned some moron that rolled through a stop sign yesterday on highway 521 near Salters, SC. Looks like my Ranger is FUBAR. Family is OK but sore. I need to find a replacement truck in the next ~2 weeks in time for the meet! |

I doubt I will make it this year to Little Switzerland.I have took a couple of rides with the "new" knee and any kind of long distance riding just ain't comfortable on the Buell right now.I never had to worry about folding up on it and taking off,but now the body starts talking after a tank of gas is gone.I love riding and riding with fellow Buellers, hopefully the knee will continue to get stronger. Operation was in March,so I got a few more months until I am"fully"recovered. I hope everyone has a great time and the weather cooperates. The Antiques on Main in Chesnee is this weekend also.Sunday afternoon would be the best day to check it out.Y'all stay cool and be safe. |

Hey do any of you SC Buell Riders want a "sort-of-official SCBR" T-shirt? I still have some for $5 ea. I have three (3) XXLarge and eight (8) Large, and can bring to the gathering this Thursday for you to save $5 shipping costs. Just PM me please. Not bringing any unless requested. Has to do with very little extra room in the bags on the bike!! |

Well, my son-in-law became a Bueller yesterday. We picked up a 2004 XB12R in Camden with minor wreck damage for C-H-E-A-P. Here's a pre-wreck photo:
The bike looks like it was well cared-for prior to the wreck. Looks like the PO low-sided it on the left side. It needs a clutch cable, shifter (all 3 pieces), a front left turn signal and probably a primary cover. I think he's got everything on order but the primary cover. If anybody has a spare gold one laying around, please let me know. |

Anybody got a spare clutch cable for an XB? R model preferred, but I think an S would work. Son-in-law has this bike put back together, but is still waiting on a clutch cable. Parts guy mistakenly ordered throttle cable instead. Neither Thundertower nor Low Country have one in stock. Any leads appreciated. |

Ryan- I work right next door at the Army Corps of Engineers and I ride in occasionally (hopefully more often now that the weather's cooling off). I've seen an XB12S parked in the motorcycle parking occasionally; maybe you'll see that guy. BTW- they apparently don't allow motorcycles on campus. M/C parking is about 20 yards outside the Hagood Avenue gate. |

Thanks for the welcome. Sc, you're selling your Buell? Certainly looking forward to riding around here. Hugh, are you saying you work next door to The Cit? I learned about the parking the first day there talking to the Director of Admin. Kinda sucks, but not a big deal. Campus is small. |

Yea, we're a short distance down Hagood Avenue, across from the football stadium behind the Citadel Alumni building. |

We have a bunch from ADVrider that meets for supper once a month. They don't care what kind of bike you ride. Here's the thread: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31 9369&page=120 I think the current schedule is the 2nd Thursday of each month, but watch the thread if you're interested. |

I believe I have an exhaust leak at the rear cylinder header. Question, roll the engine forward or remove rear shock? Discuss... |

that depends. Factory instructions..remove everything, rotate motor down, remove pipe, replace gasket, reassemble. or since you are going to disassemble, remove muffler, remove shock and fan, remove 4 exhuast nuts, let header fall, squeeze your big fingers in a very small space, remove bad gasket, install new, reassemble. Your choice |

Hey y'all- I won tickets to the AMA races at NOLA Motorsports Park from Roadracing World. My son-in-law and I made the 750 mile drive down last Thursday and Friday and got there by 10 AM Friday. It was the first race either of us had been to. We had a great time- we saw a lot of cool stuff, got autographs from Danny Eslick and Geoff May, and watched some great racing. Here's the highlight of my weekend: We found Erik at the EBR truck on Sunday between races and he spent a good 10 minutes talking to us. Of course I thought of a hundred things I SHOULD have asked him since then but we had a nice talk. I got his side of a tale from March Badness III that I was involved with. What a cool guy. The racing was great but the track is not very good (at least so far) for viewing. We could only see about 10% of the course from where we were (in the turn 15/16 area) and had to rely on Speed TV's Jumbotron to see 90% of the track. Hopefully they'll improve that before next year. Danny finished 2nd on Sunday but was penalized 5 seconds for crossing a painted line existing turn 16 which moved him to third. Geoff apparently had a mechanical issue late in the race and was DNF, but he still maintained his 5th position in the points race for the season which is awesome. I can't wait to see what surprises they have in store for next year. I think we'll see an EBR in the winner's spot more than once next season. |
