Fly, not sure what route, but we are taking a route mapped out by Coolice who lives in Ottawa, plan is to meet him somewhere along the way. He'll lead us to Utica where we'll have lunch then he'll lead us a good route to and through Starved Rock !! If I get the route info I'll let ya know !! We're not tired of Wisconsin and the great roads, just thought it would be fun to slum a little !! (justjokingreallyitspossiblytoevengettiredofcheesland!!) CJ |

Bomber, you are familiar with some of this route, especially when you get to Cemetery Road. Take I-294 southbound and exit Willow Springs Road (this is the next exit south of I-55 exit ramp). This starts the route. Once in Joliet, continue according to this route, or alternately, just stay on route 6 all the way to Ottawa if you want less fun, but less fuss. (Note: when viewing this route with your browser, be sure to minimize left margin so the text does not run all together.) Willow Springs Road [LEFT = south] 2 miles, turns into Flavin Road Flavin Road [STRAIGHT = south] 1 mile to 95th Street 95th Street [RIGHT = west] 1 mile to Archer Avenue (route 171) Archer Avenue [LEFT = south west] 4 miles to Bell Road Bell Road [LEFT = south] 1.5 miles to McCarthy Road McCarthy Road [LEFT = east] 1 mile to Ford Road Will-Cook Road [LEFT = north] 1 mile to Ford Road (sharp right) Ford Road [RIGHT = east] 1.5 miles to Wolf Road Wolf Road [STRAIGHT = south] 6.5 miles to Route 6 Route 6 [RIGHT = south west] 8 miles to Route 52 (in Joliet) Route 52 [RIGHT = west] 10.5 miles to Ridge Road Ridge Road [LEFT = south] 4 miles to Minooka Road Minooka Road [RIGHT = west] 2 miles to North Tabler Road North Tabler Road [LEFT = south] 4 miles to Route 6 Route 6 [LEFT = east] 0.25 miles to South Tabler Road South Tabler Road [RIGHT = south] 1.5 miles to Cemetery Road Cemetery Road [RIGHT = west] 6 miles to Route 47 Route 47 [RIGHT = south] 2 miles to Southmor Road Southmor Road [RIGHT = west] 5 miles to Sabbona Road Sabbona Road [LEFT = east] 0.5 miles to Verona Road Verona Road [RIGHT = south] 1 mile to DuPont Road DuPont Road [RIGHT = west] 17 miles to Route 23 (in Ottawa) Route 23 [RIGHT = north] 2 miles to Route 71 Route 71 [LEFT = west] 8 miles to Starved Rock State Park

Ok here is the plan... I'm meeting the group from Uke's at Mcdonald's on Rt 47 in Huntley. Then take all backroads to Utica for lunch. They are leaving Uke's at 8am, so they should be in Huntley by 10 and it should take less than 2 hours to get to Utica, depending....... Thunder to the Rock! |

Half Moon restaurant is located on route 41 about 3 to 6 miles north of the old Highland House. It is on the SE corner of Route 41 and either RT 176 or Rt 137 (I thing!). Just stay on Route 41, you can't miss it. So I will be at Half Moon at 8:00am Sunday to meet up with Bomber, Paladin and BigKarl and will be heading north (Kettle Moraine hopefully). If anyone else is interested, meet us up there and/or call my mobile 708 373-5445 to discuss further. |

Bomber, Thanks for stringing together and leading a non-stop extended fun route. It was great riding with everyone, and the weather was near perfect. Fun, fun and more fun. Karl and I returned to Road X and Palmyra area for more on our "long way" home. P.S. How the hell do you get around those corners so fast while keeping your planted smack-dab-in-the-middle of your seat????? I was moving all around just to keep up with you! I think it was my attempt to keep bike more upright to combat (mostly non-existent) hidden gravel in the corners. You made it look too easy. |

Fly -- I am a card carrying member of the "if Mick Hailwood didn't need to hang off, I don't need to" school pave apex starfing ;-} while my butt may be planted, I move my upper body around a great deal, but that's not so obvious -- also, I'd been opn those roads a bunch this year, and had a pretty good idea of where the gravel was I had a great time too -- mebbe galena/wildcat mountain later this year? and, er, ehm, why were you looking at my butt anyways -- that's just a little troubling |

Bomber...You going to give all the old guy secrets away or are we going to sell them? Must admit that it helps the ego to remember that we started riding on bikes with decent power but rotten tires, brakes and suspension on road conditions that are paled by today's standards. I wouldn't be concerned about Fly's Butt Gazing. I just saw Dyna's shorts on another thread with the gay blade logo embroidered on his rump. LMAO

TrackDay was awesome, the weather was perfect, but attendance by the chapter was disappointing. Steve Holland was showing some serious stuff can be done on his pristine 95 S2 Thunderbolt. Greg Holman was getting VERY fast on his 2000 X1, Ray Montemagni was the class of the S3 field, and Bobby Blendow brought the whole family and showed a lot of class ripping it up on his 99 X1 and 97 S3. Leon Winfrey of PrivateTrackTime.com promotes a well organized event. His family provided home cooked food for lunch instead of the usual vendor junk. Rick Breuer was there to give private coaching to riders for a very reasonable fee ($40.00), lots more. All and all, a safe and incident free weekend, the best kind! Ride Alert!! Tentatively planned for weekend of 21-22 August 2004. Anyone is welcome, so join in if interested. Here's the rough plan. BigKarl and I are talking about riding to SW Wisconsin for a Sat/Sun ride to enjoy all the great roads along the way. Half-day superslab ride gets us to Black River Falls area by lunch and right in the middle of great riding possibilities. Maybe head towards LaCrosse/PrairieDeChein, or perhaps head towards Slimy Crud territory. Cheap Hotel (Ha) Saturday night, more great riding through Devil's Lake/Sauk Prairie area Sunday, on to Kettle Moraine area then home. Or something like that! I may even blow off work Friday, ride to Galena and snake my way north along the Mississippi to meet Karl on Saturday. Anything is possible, so let's hear from you if interested. |
