Alright Matt, I've obviously missed out on several things here.

1- You got an XB?
2- When/what kind?
3- Spill the beans on the ATGATT reference- you OK?

I love the fact that the basement is open, but maybe we need to reconsider how many people we put in the cabin during the fall months. I hate for anyone to be cold and uncomfortable when staying in the cabin. If we didn't mind the cold, we'd save a lot of money and camp!

Kristi- I think I was the only one (of 4) that got cold. Chadhargis put his stuff in the utility room and the water heater kept him warm. Barker and the other guy (never did catch his name) didn't complain. The problem is you can't really tell if you're gonna be cold right off the bat. I thought I had things fixed good and then woke up freezing in the middle of the night. I don't know how air can conduct heat so well- it felt like I was touching the concrete. If I'm ever down there again, I'll make sure to put more stuff between me and the mattress, or between the mattress and the floor. I thought about putting a layer of pillows under the mattress (there were plenty of extras). I wish I had tried it.

There is also one piece of carpet down there, usually in front of the gas logs. Maybe put your air mattress on that next time. Or better yet, bring Marianne and get a bedroom upstairs! Couples get dibs on bedrooms...just sayin'!

It made it hard this year since everyone was "single". I still love that cabin and all the folks that stay with us.

I moved my mattress to the carpet Saturday night but if anything, it was colder! Yep, I needed either my wife or my dog to keep me warm!

Hopefully, we'll have the NC contingent (including you!) in attendance next year.

Man! Well, at least you got that out of the way early so you can move ahead with your ownership experience.

I hope neither you nor the bike is banged up too bad. Post a pic or two of the bike.

Nice- it looks like a new one. I see it has a race pipe. I have a new-found appreciation for 9's after trying to hang with Barker (XB9R) and Tom Bumpus (XB9Sx) this weekend.

How bad is the damage?

scraped up header, ground down the brake lever a little, little rash on the swingarm, and it ground down the brake lever, and the frame puck is scuffed, still ridable though.

Maybe that ole race pipe and ecm is a bit too much for you.... I could take that off your hands and give you a little Jardine and a stock ecm if that will help slow you down so this doesn't happen again

Nevertheless, glad to hear your ok and nice bike. I love my 9 even though I sometimes wish I had a 12 but I'd never keep it on two wheels if I had a 12!!

Ha, I've seen how much that stuff goes for on ebay. I really like the bike, gotta do a little work to her now though. Compared to the tuber I really really like it, even going down to a 9. It's a very capable machine.

Road rash absolutely sucks, going to get a tetanus booster now lol

Like I said above, the 9's had no trouble maintaining a far faster pace than I was comfortable with last weekend. I think the only place the 12 has the 9 in the real world is in low end grunt. It makes up for it to a large extent with reduced vibration at low RPMs and a higher redline.

Road rash absolutely sucks, going to get a tetanus booster now lol

OUCH. Matt- I think I have a spare mesh jacket I'd be glad to pass along if you need one.

So weird that is Miro's old Nine. I hope you got all of the demons out of that bike now and there is smooth riding from here on out.

Hugh,
Matt and I are hitting up Holy City tonight and then Taps in Summerville. I think this is the Wednesday tradition. You are more than welcome to come any time. Give me a shout some time. 6zero9-7nine7one

Eryc- Thanks for the invite, but I'm still trying to catch up from last week/weekend. On top of that I'm sub'ing for the bassist in another band this coming weekend and I'm still struggling to learn about 10 new songs.

If it's a regular Wednesday event I will make it eventually!

Matt and everybody else: Reminder to be careful with deer. The rut is close at hand. A co-worker ran into one last Sunday morning. Bike is in rough shape. (Had a custom painted Mortal Combat mural on it.) He is healing daily. Some rash and stiffness. Guardian angel was present (no helmet) but the armored jacket was in place. Danged deer must have had a guardian angel too. No blood/sign of it as it ran off

Yeah those 1:30 - 2 AM rides always have me looking as closely as possible to see them hopefully early enough. Doesn't sound fun even with all the gear on. I have seen a few and they seem to be the trained ones near the interstate that just slowly approach the roadway feeding on the grass. Its probably the smaller roads that you need to be more careful about but it makes me uneasy every time I see one no matter where its at.

Hope everyone heals up fast and gets back riding!

It isn't just the side roads. How many dead dear do you see on the side of the interstate? Too many to let your guard down.
When rut gets in full swing they will run across the road day or night in hot pursuit. It will be here very soon. I have already watched bucks make scrapes and mock chase does in the woods.

My son-in-law hit a deer a couple of years ago the day before Thanskgiving on the 6-lane portion of I-95 just north of Florence at NOON. No road or time is safe.

Deer are a menace to society.

Yeah I always increase awareness during the rut season.

Always keeping the eyes peeled for such occasions but everyone can't always miss them all. I guess being near the city may help some, but I know they are everywhere now since development has moved them to our backyards.

This cool weather is very nice by the way....

thanks Nick, def.

So i found the front tire was at 22 psi, and the rear at 25. I fixed that and it feels better. I hope the previous owner didnt cup the front tire.

Also found out this thing is a lot different than my m2.

Yea, Matt. 2nd thing you should do is find an owner's manual or shop manual and adjust the suspension for your weight. It makes a HUGE difference on an XB. There may be a link to manual at the top of the XB forum.

Matt,

I would recommend you contact Kevin Drummer. I sent him my stock ECM and he flashed it for me with his "race" map (not to be confused with race ECM). It's a totally new and more powerful bike.

I had a high end ping in warmer weather and a flat spot in 3rd gear. Now both are gone with tons more torque and higher revs.

HAHA I took off the ole Jardine to see about repacking it and you know I just had to fire it up to hear that thing without a muffler on it!!! Man those engines sound awesome with just headers... But now I just need to get the glass to put back in it cause it was pretty much all burned out.

yea, kinda like that kooks system i had on my last bike. The guy who bought it leaves for work at 5am every morning. Im sure his neighbors are going to love him!

Im starting to get the feel for the xb, its better everytime i ride it now. Rear tire is squared off and the front is showing age. Ready to get some new tires and set the suspension up properly.
