Believe it or not, Bob, but the rear tire is the same one I had put on last year while we riding out to Homecoming. I've been trying to burn it up at the drags on Friday night. The vendor let me down this time. They said the tires were in stock when I ordered them, then a week later they let me know they were on backorder. |

Jody and I had a marathon tire changing session today.
It was not without a laugh.
Hopefully Jody made it to the races in time.

Thanks for helping me with the tire, Frank. I got there just in time and ran three of my quickest runs immediately. Normally the first runs are slower because it is hotter. Lots of fun. |

Well...while on vacation and after a beautiful ride from ouray to purgatory ski area and back on thursday on hwy 550....my bike died. Fortunately only had to push it a short way to the campground. Stator #2 died. Voltage was down to 8. Time for a new bike???
The good thing was Dan and I rented a jeep today (friday) and toured some back country of ouray. Only have to cut our trip short by one day.
On to dirt biking. Very reliable bikes those kawasaki's.
So I've join the ranks with you Jody. |

Yeah, sorry to hear that Julie. There is hope on the horizon. Don't let it spoil the rest of your vacation.
I won the Friday Night Drags motorcycle class last night. Competition was sparse but my practice on reaction time paid off - I won on a hole shot. |

Hey CBR, I'm thinking of moving off the east coast and heard some good things about the economy of the greater denver area. I'm a home improvement contractor and would like some input from the locals as to how things really are.
Of course I'll be bringing my buells with me- the riding looks awsome out there! |

Well, I got my bike back today, #3 stator. I wonder how long this one will last?????? In order to get the '08 assembly it was going to cost me $975 out of pocket.....NOT. So now I have another '09 stator and will run it until the winter, or if it goes out sooner, then will send it to custom rewind.
Doz, welcome. I'm not in the business of home improvement but I'm not sure how well the guys out here are doing. I don't think it's very good tho. We do have some fantastic riding out here, miles and miles of very nice twisty roads. |

How many miles do you have on The CR now? I only have about 2800 on my 1125r and am still on the first stator. I find that I have to keep the bike plugged into the tender when not riding or else the battery will go dead within 24 hrs or so. If I leave the bike plugged in it hold in the 13's while riding. Pain in the neck....which explains why I have low miles on her....and why I'm now pushing 50,000 miles on the Uly. |

I have just under 7700 miles. The first stator went out around 5k miles and the second one only lasted about 2600 miles. As a general rule we always keep the bikes on the tender, more out of habit than necessity. I'm sure this stator will blow again but I'll just enjoy it until it does. Even if it doesn't go out by winter Dan wants to take it out and have it rewound. Thats a drag about your battery. I haven't heard about that problem. |

Jules, in the main storm fronts list, the top thread is for the rally. There is a guy up there who's looking for someone to share.
The Saturday ride is a loop southwest to Dolores, then up to Telluride for lunch. After lunch, up to Ridgeway, Ouray, Silverton, and back. Short at only 190 miles or so. Also, I hear there is some construction on 550 between Ouray and Silverton, so we may adjust on the fly. |

The construction isn't that bad. They are doing a new bridge. We got caught in it when we were there a month ago. Sat in traffic for a few minutes going towards Silverton but hardly any wait coming back to Ouray. That was a good thing, too, as that's when my stator was on the way out. Just made it back to camp when the bike died. Only had to push it a few hundred yards. LOL |

I was thru the construction on the new bridge in the middle of July going from Ouray to Silverton. Maybe a 10 min. wait only. Not worth detouring away from it in order to ride the million dollar highway.

Jody, I have your patches....
Dan and Julie, it sure was good seeing you two again. We had a great time with Jeff and Julie as well.
It would had been perfect if Kim and Cheryle could had made it and Bart could have stayed longer. (we missed Debi as well).....
We just rolled into the drive. I nursed the clutch home making adjustments on the way.

Well, I am officially gone from HCHD.
No hard feelings on either side, I just needed a bigger paycheck than they were willing to supply.
I already miss access to HD.net....
I am working in Commerce City as an industrial mechanic/electrician.
Better pay, more hours and medical with Kaiser.
I will also have "normal" weekends again!
