I know its a little late notice but Bartimus had to back out due to family issues so I am trying to pick up the slack. Ride the az191 and other routes in the Alpine AZ area for a cool weekend. The Tai Wi Wi Lodge has 7 rooms left for the weekend. It is also the local Oktoberfest weekend so there should be enought to do for everyone. Let me know, so far just two of us are in. Art..... |

Well, I'm home, 850 miles in three days, all by myself. Noone else made it, I really enjoyed the rides, thanks Bart for the maps. Also enjoyed the lodge, didn't have to share a room. Riding by myself I also didn't have any of the worries of a group rider, am I too slow/fast, etc.... Maybe next year. I really need a couple of months notice, if anyone wants to plan that early, let me know. The Tal wi wi lodge will be closed from Oct through April for remodelling, maybe we can do a spring ride in late May? I will join but not try to organize again, as this weekend was a solo even after I tried to get fellow buellers involved. I have pix posted on my FB page and will try to post some here later. Art, sorry to hear none of the AZ guys made it up there. How was the burn damage, and the roads? were you able to ride any of the routes I mapped out for you? Were you able to crash the octoberfest party? LOL Glad to hear you made the best of it. Hopefully Springfast will have a few more riders... |

Bart, The ride was great, NO traffic, the 191 is probably the best route in AZ, the roads were great. The burn damage isn't as bad near the road, but in the back country it is much worse. I rode the route you e-mailed me, backwards, from Alpine to Morenci to Luna to Alpine. It was great fun, from 80+mph sweepers to 20mph hairpins. The lodge was pretty cool, great location, ok property, it will be closed for complete renovation from oct-april. The octoberfest was fun, good food and beer, great people watching. Mostly I just relaxed with my cigars and beers. I just got a new computer and haven't had time to upload pix yet. Look for my facebook page or it will have to wait a couple of weeks, Arthur Farrand |
