Ha Ha my motivation comes from the price of gas and my 57mpg during 300 miles of commuting per week! I wish my boss would adjust my hours so the wife and I could carpool. | ||

If you guys roll out early enough you can get on some good riding before the heat hits. I left Glendale at 7am and was on hwy260 by 8am. Temp was around 68 at 6000 ft. Very nice! I'm about 40 miles from home now and it's just starting to heat up. A "cool best" is a smart investment. 30 bucks at cycle gear. If you leave at 6am, you could be home by noon and get some time with your families. | ||

Rode my Buell in the rain for the first time since I got it on Sat. night!! Was actuall pretty fun but that rain sure stings at speed! It is now the dirtyest it has ever been! Dropping it off at Chandler HD to let them put a wty. cluster in it today after work... I sure hope they dont F it up! | ||

Well.... strike one, the bike was supposed to be done today and sure enough I call and am told it's still being worked on. It cant take 30 mins to install a new cluster!!! | ||

Well I picked it up today, they told me the cluster did not fix it and they ordered a VSS (backorder) and would call when it came in... Bike looks like it was put back together ok but I will check it all out to make sure. They did leave the diag plug just hanging loose on the left side of the engine with the cover hanging off it and now the service count down reads like -7800 miles bast due.... But I got a shiney new cluster! | ||

Hey guys, The Southwest Buell Rally is coming up August 19, 20, 21 in Durango, CO and we need to see if any of you are going to attend: I just got the rates from Durango Mountain Resort. I think this is pretty good and she's sending me a contract. Need you guys to sound off about it and confirm you're attending: At Purgatory Village, they offer: King Room - $83 plus tax, plus $13 resort fee Studio for 2 - $90 plus tax, plus $14 resort fee Studio for 4 - $98 plus tax, plus $15 resort fee 1 bedroom condo (sleeps 4) - $121 plus tax, plus $15 resort fee 2 bedroom condo (sleeps 6) - $182 plus tax, plus $18 resort fee There are many of these rooms available. Also, she quoted me some condos in other buildings that sleep many people each, but there are only one or two of each available and they're much more expensive (but not necessarily on a per person basis). I need to get some numbers ASAP. I have to fill at least five rooms per night for two nights for the pricing to stick, otherwise, they'll revert back to standard pricing. Let me know. Thanks. | ||

So Hacienda HD calls me every few months to try to get me to bring in my 1125 for the charging system "upgrade". I usually tell them I'm not interested in the upgrade and plan to leave my bike stock. Well they called me 2 weeks ago and I finally agreed to take it in, The writer said he would order the harness kit and call when it came in... A week later he calls to set up the apt to bring in my bike, I tell him I run the Erik Buell Racing Race ECU and ask if I should put the stock ECU back in... We discuss that the Erik Buell Racing ECH already has the feature for the upgrade programed into it and decide I DON'T need to put the stock one back in. My game plan now is to let them put the harness in and then ride home and remove it so they have it documented as done and stop calling me. I set up the apt for today (SATURDAY) at 9am and told them I will be waiting for the bike. I drop it off this morning and make a few big bold notes on the repair order to NOT PROGRAM THE ECU and to save my solenoid terminating resistor that the new harness will replace. My wife picks me up and we go off to eat and do some shopping with the baby... I get a call about an hour later confirming I don't want to program the ECU... and that they can't do WTY repairs on Sat because they can't get a hold of HD.. But because the writer didn't know that they would do it special for me. He also told me that it is very likely that doing the upgrade will likely cause my stator to fail so they wanted to give me a heads up on that (DUH) I come back at 11:30 and browse at all the CRAP in the show room (I would like to ride the XR1200X thou) and at noon, 3 hours after I drop off the bike they tell me they can not do the upgrade w/o programing the ECU because it needs to be documented to HD.. I told them don't program the ECU and not to do the repair at all... I AM PISSED I WASTED THE FIRST HALF OF MY DAY NOW, The writer goes back and forth between me and the tech and eventually tells me if I want to bring it back they can do it another time with the stuck ECU... I tell them no thanks and that I'll just take my bike... They eventually push it out of the service dept with the communication plug and cap hanging loose on the left side of the motor and COVERED in hand prints. I point this out and they push it back in and clean it up, It comes out again and I gear up and hit the magic button.... DEAD battery from sitting with the key on... They push it back in and quick charge it and fire it up and back out it comes... This time the tech comes out and starts chatting me up (he has a Uly) He tells me that he wont get paid w/o updating the ECU so he cant do the work... I'm already past being pissed at this point and its almost funny how bad this has gone. So I tell him I didn't want the upgrade anyway and was just doing it to stop getting the calls and that I was going to remove it when I got home... He said that in his experience the harness just causes issues and that he would "document" the repair done so I would stop getting the calls... WHAT THE ••••••• If you can do that why the hell didn't you just do the repair and NOT program the ECU like I asked and "document" the repair so we all could have been happy? I am very disappointed in my experience and do not plan to buy or service anything with Hacienda again. | ||

Haciendas reputatiOn is right down there with chandlers. The only stealership with a good wrench that know his shit is Arrowhead. That would be Andre' . I would call him there at the shop and discuss what I wanted done before bringing the bike in. Arrowhead is pretty good once you get past the dumbassed service writers. | ||

OK, I made the final arrangements today for the hotel for the Durango trip. We'll be staying at Durango Mountain Resort. They can be contacted at 970-247-9000. After 12pm tomorrow, our group rate will be loaded and ready to book. Ask for the Southwest Buell Rally. Dates of stay are check in on 8/19, stay two nights, depart 8/21. In response to the inquiry about routes up to the event: I don't know. If people want to meet up and ride up as a group, we can do that. If people have peculiar schedules and need to arrive earlier or later, they can certainly go up on their own. I agree that going up through Chama and Pagosa is much more scenic and enjoyable. Given the time, I'd opt for that too. However, if I'm working that day (which I might), I might have to take the speed route up US550. Ping me with questions or concerns. | ||

No im not. i figure it wont pass but i really dont need it to but thats the point. they want to see what different things do and i just want to ride it one more time on the track. Gonna get a track only bike at some point this year or next. | ||

My Buell has been down for 2 weeks now. I think I have it narrowed down to a bad spark plug wire. Chandler didn't have any in stock, so I ordered a high performance set from Ironmachine.com last Saturday. Since they are located in CA I thought I would have them by now. Not being able to ride is starting to make me grumpy. | ||
