Glad to hear you didn't have to wait as long as you thought. Hope it's running perfectly for you now! |

OK - how the hell do you remove the wheels from an 1125? What friggin tool is it that removes the axles? I am NOT paying Pony $130 just to mess with a wheels-on tire change but I am stymied on getting the wheels off... |

Use that nut look alike thing in your tool kit it takes a 7/8 wrench left hand thread also loosen the allen set screw first. |

The tool is in the tool kit your bike came with. Loosen the pinch bolt under the rear swingarm first. Loosen the fork pinch bolts. |

Gah! I was wondering what the hell that thing was - I actually had tossed it into my "WTF?" parts drawer lol! OK, one more question: what size bolt fits the spool holes in the swingarm? I have spools in there now but they are cheap looking and I want to get new ones but I can measure cuz the bike's on the stand and the wheels are off (thanks for the info on that). |

FYI, I would also urge you to use some Loctite on the pinch bolts when you reinstall them... Sorry, I don't use the spool holes. I have the rear PitBull stand that straddles the bottom of the swing arm designed specifically for the 1125s. |

I'm guessing you don't have the service manual for your 1125? Buell did a really good job on their manuals, you should pick one up. They are indispensable! And since Erik and his gang don't get proceeds any longer, I just might know something about a PDF somewhere... |

Use hardened 8 or 10 mm bolts for the spools. Use blue loctite on the pinch bolts. Jack the bike on the can if you don't have stands. B4 I got my stands I used straps on the clip-ons to steady the bike and jacked it using the can as the jack point. |

Correct Thump, I need to pick up a service manual. If you know where to find a pdf one can you email me at lavudyar at gmail dot com please? For now, anyone know the correct torque specs for: front and rear axles and pinch bolts? Thanks! |

OK: clutch weep - fixed under warranty new tires - installed and WOW what a handling difference once a) proper profile tires are on and b) no flat spots are to be found! plate re-locator - installed (after drilling a couple of holes, dunno who engineered the one I got but jeez...) seat quick release kit - installed high bar kit - installed (that was fun, especially sucking air into the clutch line after using up all the brake fluid...) smaller l.e.d. turn signals - installed but damn they flash fast! any electrical wizards on here? I now pronunce her "ready to ride". |

Cool! You going to come to the ride this Sunday now? For the flashers u need a capacitor/transistor/thingamojobbie. About $25. I have a link I'll post tomorrow (er...later today -- didn't realize it was past midnight, dang it) of one I will be using with the Rizoma LED blinkers i plan to install over winter. Unless someone beats me to it. :-) |

Wish I could make the ride but I'm teaching for MO this weekend. On that flasher relay - I understand the 1125's controller is the CPU and there's no relay to replace. Does this relay just get installed inline? I'm electrically challenged so really need a simple solution or a tutor lol! |

The timer is built into the factory led unit. you need to install a timer inline before the led unit that you've retro fitted. The thing is called a 555 IC timer. the length of the on/ off cycle is determined by the resistors that are built into the circuit. The inst cluster for the bike simply supplies voltage when the logic is satisfied. IE blinker switch is supplying voltage or gnd, the cluster supplies the voltage to the LED pack which contains the timer circuit. I took one of the many failed LED packs I now own apart to see if I could do anything to improve reliability and discovered the timer circuit is installed in the LED assy. It seems to me they are prone to failure because of the vibration they are subject to. |

Thump, that flasher deal you posted is pretty cool. I wish I was more industrious. There are about 5-7.00 worth of parts in that thing to make it work. The seller is making bank off of those things. I built one last winter as a goof off project and used it to control a cell phone vibration motor and one of the crap failed LED packs from my 1125. I only have 3500 miles on my bike and have replaced 4 of the damn things. To boot I didn't use the turn signals at all last year since they were in a box. ( i had all the race plastics on and only tracked the bike the whole riding season last year). Think about that 2 left and 2 right between Sept, Oct 08, The whole season of 09, skip 10 and 4 months this year. 200.00 bucks on LED's. That's 100 per year to show the people behind me I'm moving in front of them.. |

Hey Racer, can you rephrase that in electrical for dummies? I have an integrated tail/brake/directionals and aftermarket front turn signals. Do I need a separate timer for all 3? Is it easy to install? |

I plan yo make it to the ride on Sunday, only hitch right now is that I am sick as a dog with uncontrollable nose dripping. Inconvenient with a fullface helmet... I will post up Sunday early AM if not coming.. Dennis, I'll call you tonight about this. I received your message yesterday while at Cedar Point so I didn't have an opportunity to call back.. I installed LED aftermarket turnsignals on my bike a few years ago. They blinked really fast. What I did was get a pair (one for front, one for rear) of 10ohm,( or there about, can't remember) 10w ceramic resistors here: http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partn umber=004-9.1 Just wired them in parallel with each turn signal. Now the blinker "sees" a load that makes it work properly. A few pics.. Splice it in Route it neatly Looks like this Hides in here.

Hope you're feeling better Mark, and can make the ride tomorrow. It appears we may be the only two Buellers going -- kinda sad when we have over 60 members and most of them are local. I know we're all busy but this year has been tougher then usual trying to get people together. *sigh* But, we have a few other bikers coming, including: - Honda Goldwing - Honda VTX - Suzuki Volusia Intruder - Honda Shadow Spirit Are you all really going to let these big bikes show up our Buells on the twisties? Here's the route to tempt your taste buds: http://www.goo.gl/BkoBF And here's my last nudge...if you've never been through Hocking Hills, maybe it's like this...
...or maybe not...but you won't know unless you come find out! It's going to be a beautiful day for a fun ride! So let's ride!

Sorry to hear that Mark. Feel better!! Dennis! See you there! Just checking the weather. Looks like we're behind the tail end of it all. Clearing around Columbus in the next hour (8-9ish), a little rain in Canal Winchester but clear by 10am, and Hocking Hills itself may be a little wet when we reach it, but sunny and clear after 11am. And given that the funnest part of the route isn't until after lunch, it should work out perfectly! I say we're still a go -- unless the Meetup people start bailing. :-) |

Dennis (and anyone else planning on going that didn't speak up) -- Forecast is updated and I think we're just a little too close to the tail end of this. So let's just BUMP THIS BY AN HOUR and meet at Kroger in Canal Winchester at 11am instead. ** Please post back to let me know you got this message ** (I don't mind the rain so if I don't hear from everyone, I'll be there to hang out with anyone that shows up until 11am) |

Us too!! Four of us stopped off at McDonalds in Carrol on 33, hoping it would pass over...but instead, it didn't rain until right when we decided to leave. Got DUMPED on! But hey, at least that was AFTER the entire ride. Glad you guys had fun! With the MeetUp group it turned out to be a pretty good group -- although between us, some of them were a little slow for this ride. Hope you didn't get stuck too long behind some of them. :-0 |
