Yes thanks for reminding me Greg...Both Nancy & I are having the Chapter 4th of July Party @ our home here in Countryside. We can swim, play softball, basketball, bocceball and feast...it is B.Y.O.B., and bring your swim suit too(B.Y.O.S.S.) Nancy and I would also like to Celebrate our 10 year Party Animals Lawnsigns Anniversary on this day also! We also just celebrated our 22 year wedding anniversary last week...yeah! I'm planning a short ride thru my local fav ride in & around the woods that day too. Kirk also was planning a chalk ride for earlier that day too...hopefully more info to come. Please e-mail if more details/directions needed. Have A Great Holiday Ray |

Kirk, I'm just getting back on-line after being "away" for several days. I crashed my Buell at track day last Wednesday and they hauled me away to the hospital. I separated my left shoulder and broke four ribs. Bike is back at IL-HD for repair, but it looked pretty wadded when I briefly viewed it as they loaded me into the ambulance. I will know more later this week. I was having much fun up until the crash! I can tell you that my injuries are very painful and I won't by riding for quite a while. Painfully laying in the hospital ER, I contemplated selling all my bikes and "getting out of the business". But I've come to my senses now and look forward to riding again. |

Curt - If it's any consolation, I crashed (low side) my SV at Blackhawk on May 10th. I didn't get injured, but it didn't tickle either. Let's do our learning and get right back on. Just an FYI, I'll be at the Homecoming most of this week. Steve Rusnock is gonna make a day trip of it and meet us for the big ride out west which is tomorrow (Thursday). Call my cell at 630-632-3814 if anyone wants to connect. Thanks, Don |

Frank, Unfortunately, I'm now recouping at work! Regarding crash, I went into the sharp right-left chicane (turns 3C and 3D, I believe) hot but unfocused, ran off track, freaked at approaching tire-wall, stood bike up with the intent of scrubbing some speed, touched front brake while on the grass (idiot), bike quickly went unstable and tucked (more like slammed) down to the left. Basically user error, the crash could (should) have been prevented. Hopefully this won't discourage anyone from attending July 28 Track Day described by Sam above. Track Days have absolutely been the biggest contributer to improving my riding skills and I can't wait to ride the track again. ........<now preaching> just always stay focused and ride within comfortable limits. I was pushing my personal limits all day, and although it was much fun, ultimately paid for it. A streetbike track day isn't the time, place or bike to push limits........<end preaching> |

For everyone joining any BRAG activities (or whatever) in the next few days, hope you all have a good time! I will miss Windy City Chapter meeting this Thursday to attend my son's graduation. I spoke with Kirk who will run things. Sorry for short notice, but I completely overlooked the conflict. Obviously, I can no longer function as a Road Captain for now. I would like to nominate Ray as one (1) of two (2) Road Captains, and anyone else interested in the position. Please pursue this at Thursday's meeting. .....back to work....so much work email to review while out of the office. |
