Bman, I had the same thing happen to my signal switch after washing the bike. I sprayed injector cleaner and forced the moisture out. Glad to see it did not catch fire when I hit the first turn. Lars, Sorry to have missed the ride. I'll be there soon. Good news...wood floor is finished. |

Terp Bueller, Hey Harry, So, you sprayed down the insides of the turn signal switch assembly? With injector cleaner? I did lightly spray WD-40 in there a couple of times with no results. Tomorrow, I will look at it again. |

Bman, The cleaner evaporates quickly. My thought was that it would remove the moisture, without leaving any residue. It cleared itself within a minute. |

Well, The WD-40 did not work for me that fast. I left the switch assembly open for a few days to air out. I never saw any moisture inside. Today, checked it out and now working fine. Put it back together. I guess I will have to cover up the switches on both sides when washing. Now to get a battery for the XB. |

Mark Gainer (wolfridgerider) will be at my place saturday night (9 april) with his TT; we are riding from frederick down to McLean VA on sunday morning so he can trade it to another badwebber for a jeep. If anyones up for a ride, shoot me a PM and I can give you my address and try to narrow down a departure time. All depends how much moonshine he brings with him for saturday night... |

Greetings All, Here's a link to the 2011 Res Ride thread in Storm Fronts. The Res Ride takes place Memorial Day weekend, May 28/29 in and around Altoona, PA. Along with the Saturday ride, we usually end up eating some Clem's BBQ. Something new this year will be a Sunday morning ride to the Flight 93 Memorial site near Johnstown, PA. Lodging and other info is posted in the Res Ride thread. Any questions can be posted there, I'll do my best to answer. Hope to see you there! Toona |

Hey Paul, Good to see that you got the repair done on one of the bikes. I don't know about the weather tomorrow. I have other things to do this weekend. Did some long overdue maintenance on the Firebolt today. Changed plugs, cleaned out airbox, took front bodywork off and tried to tighten up instrument cluster mounting bolts. The bike is actually fun to work on. Nothing to difficult. |

Looks like my riding season is off to a crummy start. Quite a few of you have probably already heard I crashed last Saturday night in old town Ellicott City. First ride of the season too. Yeah, I'm pretty bummed especially since I was at fault. Main Street Ellicott City on a Saturday night is packed with people heading to bars and restaurants. The narrow street is lined on both sides with parallel parked cars. I left a restaurant about 9:15pm on the east end of Main street heading west. It's a right banking road initially and I got up to some where between 30 and 40 mph. About 1/3 of a mile up the road Main street banks left but when I went to lean the bike, the bike kept going straight. It was a huge WTF moment as I scanned for a way out of this. I couldn't make the turn and I hit a parallel parked Jaguire. I think I did one flip, slammed down onto my left side and rolled multiple times. I hit the Jag so hard I bent its front wheel into his fender well. I tried getting up but all I could manage to do was drag myself out of the street because my legs felt completely worthless. But that effort didn't last long before onlookers rushed over and forced me to hold still fearing a spinal cord injury. Then came the EMTs, neck brace back board, the bumpy ambulance ride to HoCo general and Xrays of everything that hurt. My left side felt like a meat tenderizer got a hold of me. Hip, left knee and should took the worst beating I've ever had. So what went wrong here? It was a combination of a bike malfunction and a stupid mistake on my part. Dumba$$ left the kickstand down, but the bike shouldn't run when the kickstand is down. Unfortunately the kickstand sensor has never worked so occasionally I screw up and get a subtle reminder. This one wasn't so subtle. This week I had several doc appointments and what I know so far is I hyper-extended my left knee and the femur crushed the top of the tibia. I got off lucky again though and the weight bearing surfaces are intact but it needs to heal. Shoulder needs help... looking at that next. Plus a bunch of pulled muscles in my left leg and lower abs. I have to wear a full leg brace and I'll be on crutches for a few weeks. As for the bike, it has typical front end damage and sliding damage (forks, wheel, triple trees, probably bars),fairing, foot peg and shifter linkage, and miscellaneous parts). They totaled it saying repair costs would be over $6400. Total B.S. Their parts list replaced everything that had a scratch on it. The payout is $6380 and they take the bike... more than I could have sold it for ! Or I can keep it and they'll give me $4700 (again a very good price). Almost a no-brainer. I'll probably keep it. I could repair it pretty easily or part it out. I have to thank Joe Goetz for for coming all the way out from Fredrick to get my bike out of the tow lot, and for storing it for me. Heck of a nice guy! Ride safe. Tony
