Hi, I'm Robert, the proud parent of a 97 S1w and 00 X1 - just thought I would check in and see who is riding near Westminster / Federal Heights. I ride nearly all week; would be up for going out just about any day for any type of ride. So far, I've only met Zack from here, so I also need to get involved in activities more to learn everyone and your names / bikes. Thanks! Robert 303-465-0902 |

Robert, welcome to the CBR section of the badweb. You say you have a 97 S1W..... could it be a 98 S1W? I am just curious since the S1W was only made in 98. I have one as well and it is a lot of fun. I get up to Westminster a couple of times a year and hopefully I can meet up with you or if you ever find yourself in the Southern part of Colorado let us know. Zac is a great guy and a real Buell enthusiast... Frank |

Hey Robert, I live around 112th and Sheridan in Westminster. When I am not riding to and from work (most every day of the week) I like taking rides for fun. Many of the times I go by myself, sometimes I'll meet up with other Buell guys, and sometimes I like to take my wife or one of the kids with me. PM me if you are planning to ride...and I will do the same. |

Anyone do last months ride? -- I wanted to go but bought a new FJR and rode with 8 other bikes from work (DG-MC) to Chama Taos Santa Fe and Carlsbad -- need to get the Buell back out and get back on something with a soul -- |

Brokeneck, are you talking about the Gateway Ride? If so check here: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/37/ 362002.html?1211380297 It was a lot of fun. Frank |

Hello CBR Yolks, I can't tell you how much I wish I was already in Colorado to meet some of you and to start enjoying the roads there. I have a 2006 Blast and have really enjoyed it as my first ride. Back here in Nashville I'm spending my free time finishing up home repairs to make the house pretty for prospective buyers. I'm finishing out my last few weeks on my current job and suffering through the humidity while riding with helmet and jacket on, too. Hopefully I can post a picture of me and my bike soon. I plan to live in Canon City and would like to be there as soon as July 4th, but the house not being on the market may slow me down as much as a month. Any hints on how to make the Blast more comfortable for rides longer than an hour? The fun and my buns wear thin after that. Kudos to whoever is making that track to Wisconsin on a Blast. |

J2blue said: "Kudos to whoever is making that track to Wisconsin on a Blast." That is my son...he is 15 (and has no butt), so he should be fine. As far as your seat (ahh, I mean your Blast seat), I know that some have opted for after market seats (like the Corbin), and some have modified their stock seat. I don't know if you have visited the "Thumper" Section on Badweb...but I bet that you would find more specific information there. |

Jody, Where in Canon City are you moving to? My hubby and I are actually thinking about moving down there in the (near) future. Looks like homes are reasonably priced there. We had been thinking about Salida but they're asking too much $ for their homes. We live in Castle Rock now, about 1 1/2hrs north of Canon City. It's a nice area in the sense that it's close to a lot of nice riding and Pueblo race track. Anyway, best of luck and welcome to Colorado, it's a beautiful state. |

Hi JJ, My sister has a house right next to Skyline drive on the north side of town. I'll stay with her for a short while before picking out my own place. I picked Canon City for my mid-life crisis and will be living like a poor college student by choice mostly. I may use what I make off my house in Tennessee to buy a trailer in one of the cities "senior" parks. As long as it has a covered area for me, my tools, and my toys that is all I want. Salida is neat, but it is getting to be tourism based and also is far from the bigger distribution points like Pueblo. If I decide to get back into computers I'll likely need to be within an hour of Pueblo or the Springs. Castle Rock is pretty neat what I've seen of it off the interstate. I usually fly into Denver and drive down. |

Maximum, I'm older and still have no butt! Oh well. I do haunt the Thumper forums and have recently seen someone's custom made seat. I'm not ready to spend that much yet, but I may have to. Some of it may be weak stomach muscles causing my lower back to ache as well. I am thinking about getting a gel pad and trying that. Wasn't there a "King of the Hill" episode about buttocks prosthesis? |

J2blue, we rode up Skyline Drive when we were in Canon City 2 wks ago and it scared the be-ge-be's out of me. I'm normally not afraid of heights but that freaked me out. Had to make sure I was looking straight ahead of me and NOT to either side. I don't have a Blast but I did have my seat re-padded by an upholsterer. Had him take out the original padding and put in more but softer foam. It definitely made a big difference. It cost about $75, so that's a option also. |

JJ, thanks for the seat tip, I may have to consider that. Skyline scares everyone the first time, you have to remind yourself that the sides only slope at 45 degrees even though it seems like it is straight down. I had fun in my sisters car accelerating to about 60 going up once I got used to it. There is also a great dirt bike riding area below on the town side of the ridge. |

J2, yeah, we saw that dirt bike set up after we stopped at an area on top. It looks really neat. Can anyone use it and do you know if there's a cost to ride there? It does look like a lotta fun. Both my hubby and I bought dirt bikes this year and am looking to try to get out on them as much as possible. We went to Woodland Park a couple of weeks ago and rode some ATV/MC trails and it was fun. |

JJ, I can't say for sure if riding is free and open to the public, but it is public land I believe, belonging to the city. There are no barricades to keep MX and ATVs out. I can ask my sister if she knows. |

Hey Folks, two quick updates: 1) The above post from me about the hog backs alongside Skyline drive needs to be updated, the City only recently purchased the land and will be actively blocking riders from using it for MX riding. Sorry if I got anyone in trouble. 2) I have finally arrived in Colorado and now reside at the base of Skyline drive on the east side. No, not the prison but not far from it. |

Hey Frank, Look forward to meeting you anytime you can make it. I took the Blast out last night and it ran really well without any carb adjustments. I can tell the power is down a bit, as expected. I'll send you my phone numbers privately. |

And another update... Earlier in this thread I commented about how uncomfortable I would get if I rode for more than an hour on my Blast. Well, I decided to Google a bit and found out it is a quite common problem for cyclist. The coccyx bone, or tail bone, is the problem. If, like me, you don't have any butt to speak of then the coccyx bone is directly stressed and can become bruised even. Seat pads are available so I plan to get one pronto. I plan to go to the Taos Buell rally and would like to meet with anyone in CBR before then for a practice group ride. I live in Canon City and could do an evening short ride or weekend day ride. I've only had experience riding with one other cyclist before, not a pack. |

My name is Frank and I am a Buelloholic. (2007 XB12R, 1998 S1W, 1996 S2T and 1995 S2) I am in Fountain CO. Ironken, I have been through Rocky Ford twice. (Juile, just follow I 50 East out of Pueblo and you will ge through Rocky Ford) I wonder what kind of work you do. I have not been there in awhile and wonder if industry had moved in. I am looking for a change of pace. Just to let you know, there are a couple of Buell groups in Colorado but they are around the big cities like Denver and Colorado Springs. The CBR section here on the BadWeb was started to let the whole Buell community on Colorado know what is going on. J2 is in Canon and I am in Fountain, between Pueblo and Colo Springs. If you find yourself in my area you are more than welcome to stop by. J2, Lynn and I did a little ride last weekend. My GF rides a 2007 XLN1200 (Nightster). Welcome back to Colorado and hope we can do a ride soon. |

Jumpinjewels,J2blue and F_Skinner....Thank you for the warm welcome back to Co. After 7 years away, it's good to be near family again. F_Skinner: I work for the BNSF Railway out of La Junta and wish that there were industry in the area, but, sadly there is only farming out here. Rocky Ford is quiet and I can easily be to work within my alotted call time. If you are looking for a change of pace, I can check to see if the Railroad is hiring and get back to you....Lemme know. P.M. me. My wife is in the process of getting her license and come spring we plan on doing some rides together. F_,Jewels and J2, I'll post when we do go for a ride and maybe we can hook up. My job makes it difficult to make long term plans, so usually it is a day or two in advance thing. We would really like to take a short one to Cripple Creek ( don't wanna push her too hard ) after she gets legal. Again, thanks for the welcome and I'm glad to see that we're close to other buellers....Kenny |

Sorry for taken so long to respond. I do not have the Internet that much but am working on it. I am busy traveling a lot and do consultant work. Jumpinjewels, Hanover is East of Colorado Springs and looks like Kansas. I have had a lot of problems with my bike. It is a 98 S3T. I have been on a local Buell group site trying to get help but no one there seems to have any knowledge about my bike. I was getting ready to drop it off at the local HD shop when I found someone to help get it running again. Looks like this is the place to be. |
