Well I lived up to my word. No mods on the Roddy V for one year. Now that the year has passed I went ahead and ordered the complete Vance and Hines 2-1 pipe and a SEPST tuner. Oh happy days are just right around the corner . Nuts, I found a new brazing rod that will solve your cracked case problem easily. If you're interested I can send you the linkey. WhooWee! Got the old exhaust off and let me tell you fella's, that thing has to weigh 60 pounds. I gots me a broken back from yankin' that mess off of there but it was nice turning wrenches again. The bike is in pieces all over the basement since I'm doing the intake mods as well. The new exhaust is supposedly around 15 pounds so maybe the bike won't lean to the right anymore . Gonna throw in a hotter cam and change the primary pulley in the next few months. Might not be a Busa' killer when I'm done but she'll definitely be a spunky beast. You're correct Charlie so I'll rephrase. She is a spunky beast but this little overhaul should make her downright naughty . Nuts, Got me hunting/fishing/herping permission on 140 acres of paradise in Franklin Co. Met the guy through one of my reptile sites and went down to lay some tin and boards last weekend. I may be forced to start hunting again since I won't have to compete for the good spots. Dude doesn't hunt but he does fish the little pond so I may have to graciously let him cast into his favorite hole since he owns it. |

Nuts, Learn the Latin and common names for our local reptiles and amphibians and you may get an introduction. In return you have to talk the Georgia crew into letting me peruse the countryside in the off season. |

Oh me Charlie! I didn't know you were a Nascar fan. I guess since you moved down there where all the roads are straight a bunch of left turns looks exciting . If you got cable Speed Channel have been running the AMA circuit every few nights. |

Jaxson, I was a Nascar fan before you were born. I grew up sitting on the fence watching dirt modified on the half mile track. I love all forms of racing, was involved in SCCA in LA and VA. We ran the Race of Champions at Road Atlanta, wound up dropping a valve, but it was a very exciting week. Like I said , I love it all, but my passion is the dirt, mostly motorcycles, but Micro's and Modifieds also.As long as it has one of those. |

I figured you for a fella' that liked to play in the dirt. When the rain closes down the track do you guys make mud pies until the track is dry enough to run again? |

Charlie, I rethought my current project and instead of doing the cams I am sticking with a Stage 1 project versus going the more aggressive route. The next two weeks will see the UPS man dropping off pipes, SEPST tuner, larger diameter throttle body assembly, high flow air filter, and a few more tasty odds and end. I haven't been this deep in a disassembly since 1999-2000. Its as fun as I remember |

Jaxson, I understand the excitement...But right now the Roddy is fun to ride, becareful what you give up for all the "High Performance stuff" you will enjoy bragging about.Nothing in a motor is free, you have to give up something to get something. |

Thats why I decided against the cams. Right now the thing is so lean I'm surpised they don't self destruct from the factory. The tuner I chose should give a more even fuel curve throughout the entire RPM range which should be a bit more healthy for the motor. I also can't quite figure out why they used narrow band o2 sensors other than the fact they have to meet EPA standards by bottling the whole thing up. The best thing about my mods is they are all reversible since I bought a new throttle body instead of having mine milled so if she's to rowdy or temperamental its back to stock |

Why thank you my good man! Sometimes I surpise myself. After getting into this thing it amazes me how far technology has come. This machine is so far from the air cooled, S&S carbed engines that I used to fool around with. I've scratched my bald head a few times and even wondered a time or two if I shoulda' stuck with an air cooled Harley. YEAH RIGHT . The Rocker C is the only other model HD offers that tickles my fancy but the price is too steep for an assembly line factory bike. |

It'll prolly go really fast in a straight line and sound better. The factory pipes sounded like a sewing machine. I do loves me some of this machine though which I can't say for the 2 Firebolts. Its nice to actually WANT to ride instead of the ole' ride, stop, ride, stop, whine about a broken back, repeat. In a few years she's gonna have a black frame, black tins with some tasty yellow scallops pinstriped in purple, and LOTS of chrome. With the tax return I'm giving serious thoughts to having RC Components machine me some custom wheels. They did a fine job in 2000 so I bet they can do amazing things these days. BUT, keep in mind, I did keep my word. No mods for the first year . |

Whatcha got on the docket for tonight? I'm likely going to make a return trip if the wet weather holds. I saw several but couldn't make a capture due to being ill equipped to reach their chosen breeding area. I need one for photos but I wasn't willing to ruin the Timberlands for the priviledge. Probably head out around 8-9 this evening so let me know and I'll give you a holler on the tele. |

Charlie, Was it the fact I looked like a gorilla humping a tricycle, I was scared to go above 15MPH in a corner, only being able to go 20 miles before stopping, or the constant cleaning that led to that conclusion . |

I would never use the gorilla analogy haven ridden past several store front windows myself. More like waiting for you to catch up and a ton of cleaning. But now you an Roddy can kick sand in our faces. And not kidding, I enjoyed stopping every 20 miles or so. |

Nuts, Sorry about the no call. Seems like everytime I try it goes straight to voicemail. Thats why I posted up here to see if you were wanting to go. What kinda class you taking? Are you working towards a degree in Proctology? Charlie, With the Roddy V I can look in storefront windows all day long and not look like the above mentioned Gorilla . It's official boys. I've broken the 4 decade mark today. Mentally i'm 12 but my body says I'm 73. |
