Hey guys, I'm sure this is covered elsewhere on the board, but I want ya'lls personal experience on this. I've got an 06' 9R with the Factory Race Pipe on it, adding an aftermarket air filter soon, and want to know which way to go on the fueling, with the Factory Race ECM or should I do the ECMspy thing? IIRC, the race ECM doesn't get rid of the flat spot, at least not on paper, but what's yalls real-world experience with that? I don't want this to be a huge headache, so if ECMspy requires a Masters, I don't have time.
I want a torque curve that's flat as Nebraska, and a few more ponies all over. What's the best way to go?
If you "don't want this to be a huge headache", then go with the Buell Race ECM.
I've read a bit here and mostly from BuelletinBoard, and picked up a few things that seem to make sense to me about tuning the ECM. My bike runs fairly well to me using the seat of the pants dyno. Idle after fist starting the engine needs some work, especially when cold. Haven't had the time to mess with it. I used it as me time to keep my mind busy; I need that at times.
If you want the "easy button," get the Erik Buell Racing ECM. If you want to play and experiment, try it on your own.
Maybe one of these days we can do some comparisons first hand.
If you're looking for an excuse to get out, there's a Bike & Hike tomorrow. Meet up at DeSoto Falls at noon, hike to the waterfall, and then head to Rider's Hill for lunch.
Sigh. Why do people have such a hard time learning from others' mistakes?
I have a friend who started riding last year. I told him the Icon "boots" he bought were crap. They looked like high top sneakers. Sure enough, he broke his ankle the first time he crashed. It wasn't even a big crash.
Now he's getting back on the horse, and he asked me for advice on boots. I pointed him to the A-Stars and Sidis, but he's fixated on some Joe Rockets that are hardly any taller than the Icons.
eric, that thing is gonna be loud as hell with that D&D on it. Would'nt know yet. Were working on the most basic of issues, no spark. Right now the only sound it makes is the rumm, rumm noise we make when Lee or I sit on it and imagine were riding it.
Can I wheelie it? I bet you can Maybe a little show and tell session once we get it running.
Twintalon - If your still looking for a air filter I have the old stock filter form my Uly. Don't know what else it fit's though.
saw on Facebook that TWO is closing "We Regret to inform you that Two Wheels Only will cease operation on March 15th 2011 We'd like to thank all of you who supported this establishment and the local community for the last 29 years. It's been a fun ride" "Unfortunately the inheritors of the property that Two Wheels Only sits on would not renew the ground lease, do a month to month rent until they sold their property, or sell us the separate parcel of land that the resort is on. We'll keep you posted!"
Man, the hits just keep on coming. First we lost Buell and March Badness, and now The Man is trying to kill off Buelltoberfest as well!! This is the end of an era.
