Wish I could come along for the ride today, but I've got threads showing on my rear tire. Do any of you guys have suggestions on a good place to purchase tires, and have them mounted?? |

Neill, buy it online, then go to Central!! Hey, they never screwed up a tire yet, I don't think anyways, hell you live right next to them damn near, I would!! www.maw.com has pretty good tire prices. Also Arizona Motorsports has real good prices. thats www.arizonamotorsports.com I think. Hell try it. |

Sorry Neill, I just checked my reciepts, it was motorcycle superstore. com Got rear tire Dunlop for $105.00 Max at Central say's that they don't make any money off tire sales, so he doesn't mind mounting them! |

Neill... The bunch that gave the talk at the last BRAG meeting might be worth checking. I stopped by Saturday, being they were the only bike shop in town open Saturday, and I am pretty sure they said they would be open today! Give them a call, you might end up with a tire for a ride this afternoon! The number is 816-554-1766 Mobbers... (Paul) OK... What the hell is the plan for today??? When and where to meet??? |

Lightnings strike Weston, MO: And Amelia Earharts birthplace: Also heard rumbling through Leavenworth National Cemetary: And a few good roads tied it all together, too bad they were in Missouri. Do they pay any taxes over there? Can't tell by the rotten crumbling roads.

Fuscat... OOPS! I got distracted by a beautiful ride on some nasty Missouri roads and did not get a "roundtuit". I will try tonight or tomorrow at the latest, and report my findings!!! The particular point of fun I remember was the big pot hole I hit just before the apex of a right hander that launched my a** and my XB a few inches off the ground. Since I could see there was no oncoming traffic I stood it up and faded over the double yellow lines until my a** and both wheels were again totally in continuous contact with the earth, then returning to my lane. I coulda pushed it down if I had to... but that would have been stupid to chance loosing grip as the tires touched the double yellow if I woulda drifted that far if I didn't have to! AND I almost forgot. Another high point of the ride was topping the hill to find a HUGE tractor with a HUGE-ER brush hog in my lane and hanging further OVER my lane. I didn't really need to, but I swerved and ducked. With my luck the hydraulics would have bleed down at the instant I passed "under" it when I passed, and I would have got a "a little off the top" of my Shoei! Damn Missouri roads!!! Also... I was getting tired of Tripper's playing tag with every rain cloud he saw! I would have maybe thought it was unintentional if it had not been that after we were thrown, well really just escorted off of Fort Leavenworth. "Oh, let's see the Buffalo Soldier Memorial on Ft. Leavenworth!" "Tripper... there is a war on ya know... we might not be welcome" followed by the sound of his pipes and a wheelie towards the front gate. Followed my some angry looking MPs in a well armed HUMVEE, swinging some BIG barrels towards the maniacs on loud motorcycles ZOOMING towards the front gate, I am sure "looking" like three suicide bombers! Followed by a hasty u-turn and the loss of interest of seeing the Buffalo Soldier Memorial!!! I was guessing that our next misadventure would somehow involve the Military Cemetery. So after avoiding being blown to bits by the MPs were headed towards less of a "anti-terrorist" zone of Leavenworth. Followed by an ignored the turn to the Military Cemetery and headed straight across the river bridge, once again on the rear wheel straight towards a rain cloud! Anyway... after Paul and I forced Tripper into the ditch, we turned around and eventually arrived at the Military Cemetery. I personally was happy to observe that there were no armed MPs at that location. I did get a little road rash on the trip. No... not from any nasty Missouri roads. But from diving across the road in the cemetery to save Tripper from being hit by a car. Now... what the hell the driver was thinking when he thought he had the right of way when Tripper was IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET taking photographs of the head stones. As we rolled across the street into the ditch, I could not help but ask Tripper if he was a veteran, and if he was trying to get his very own accommodations in this cemetery! At this point MY life flashed in front of me, and amongst it all was me bouncing out of a pot hole on a nasty Missouri road into the path of a hay truck AND me riding headless from under a brush hog after topping a hill. As a vet I would have been provided with long term accommodations at that cemetery!!! With all the rain cloud "touch and gos", I had to wash my XB two full months ahead of schedule!!! The roads in Kansas were much better... near perfect if it were not for the kamakazi bicycle rider that hung me up on the last leg on the last straight away before I435!!! It all makes me think of a probable conversation between St. Peter and President Lincoln. "Other than that Mr. Lincoln... did you enjoy the play?"

Other than the asphalt crumbling to dust, the gravel across strategic spots, the slippery tar patches, and the other obstacles you barely missed (you didn't mention the copper pointing at me to pull over), how did you like the roads Mr. DAS? |

Must say, very impressed with the coversation above, except the part about the rolling in the ditch???? What the?? Anyway, yes a copper was pointing at Dave Directly due to the fact that he was going about 20 going onto 100, rev, rev, ya know loud pipes rumbling ect.ect. I must say the hill that almost gave Dennis the hair cut on the mower was Quite a Hill!!! I'll bet if we got Mr. Sam on that hill in his "prime", he would have done an all time wheelie to tell his KIDS about!!! Meaanwhile I wanted to go back and do it again!!! But nooo, we had to pull over and . (felt good though!!) Nice route Dave, look forward to what else is up your MAgical sleeve, not you Dennis, we allready know!! |

Fuscat... Good news... THEY FLOAT!!! Now all we have to do is clean 10 years of corrosion and dried scum off of them without destroying them!!! You will need to find a couple or 3 bronze/brass wire "tooth" type brushes. The steel or stainless type would most likely be more prone to damage the brass used on the float assembly. This weekend we have no plans... so we can do the Independence version of Monster Garage, and give em a go! |

Ok, lemme ask you fellas a question, what would you think about a 1988 honda Shadow 600 that only has 4200 miles? A good friend of mine is looking at one and was curios about the miles being so low. I myself dunno what to think. Could be low from not being used much and garage kept (its super clean, nice bike)or could be low cus it was a lemon and spent a great deal of time in the dealer and never rode much. Another possibility is that it is not the original odomiter as it does probably fall into the "Milage Exempt" catagory from age. Seems like a good deal and a great bike for him to start on. He likes it alot and feels it fits him. Just a little curios on your opinions? It is in great shape. Has a couple blemishes but it is an '88. It looks up to date and mechanicly, based on my limited knowledge, seems great. Take a peak and tell me what you think:

Fuscat... My experience with Honda is that a lemon is a rare machine. I would hazard a guess that the owner was a weekend warrior type rider and never put many miles on it. I also think I recognize the background. Tell your friend to negotiate hard... they start high... and act like they don't want to come down... but my experience is that they mark up to expect that, even though many just pay what they ask. You will notice they NEVER put a price tag on anything with an engine at that place!!! |
