Hey, my first trip out west was to the greater White Sands metropolitan area(humor). I loved it! I went up to Ruidoso and over to Sunspot. I stayed one night in the Valley of Fires state park, then in another state park just south of Alamagordo. I'd love to plan a trip that coincides with the one weekend each year that the Trinity site is open. |

The Alamogordo/White Sands "metro" area, Ruidoso, and Cloudcroft are great places to visit. Once there...lots of fun roads. The Sunspot highway is a must do... This area has several alternate dirt roads that end up in roughly the same places as the paved ones, creating some additional off-road opportunities for Uly and TT owners (just soften the damping...) As for Trinity Site... a large round swath and a monument stone in the middle. For those not familiar, an atomic bomb (the first) was set-off there... A one time visit is an experience but you can learn more about it at the Nuclear Science Museum here in ALbuquerque. |

Guys, Thanks for all the info. I'm definitely going to plan a track day for my Firebolt. I envy all of you that have access to this. It sucks that I'm 5 hours south of Albuquerque. |

Doug, let us know when you're going to plan your track day. I'm out of town for both September and October, but next spring if you're around, you can bunk with us. We've got an extra room you can rent cheap! |

Thanks again guys. CJ I will take you up on the rental. And the Deming track is 1 1/2 hours closer. Do you have bikes specifically for racing or are you all prepping street bikes. |

Prepping the bike for track days is not too hard... You just need to tape it up. If/when you come out, there will plenty of help out there to get you through tech inspection. They also offer a track orientation school to get you started. |

Dashunk...What lap times were you running at the track this weekend? |

Dunno. Wasn't timing myself. Last month was running about 1:30ish on the same layout by someone else's stopwatch timing. I could be a lot faster, but I hold back because I don't wanna wreck my TT. I ride it too much. It was hell the last 2 weeks with it in the shop. They don't rent the timing equipment out on track days so I don't know any official times for myself. |

Never heard about case breakage like this... Hopefully, it is an anomaly. What do they think caused it? Metal Fatigue? Material Defect? As for the track, I would prefer they run it "normal" both days this late in the season. It should be fun#@! |

I was running 1:38's according to the GF's watch, I moved up to intermediate after lunch though. you passed me once on the first set, but I never saw you again in that set or the last one. and as for the track config, I too would like to go the old way again for a little bit to see how much I have improved since I started. I have dropped over 20 seconds on the new config in the last two track days alone. (Message edited by agfish18 on September 16, 2010) (Message edited by agfish18 on September 16, 2010) |

In the 2nd set after lunch I was on bike #422. Didn't go out in the 3rd after lunch. I heard about that on the radio. I usually work on friday so that would be hard for me to attend. |

Where do you work that you are seemingly always... working? And as of right now I am planning on attending. I have to take the 1125 up to Santa Fe for its 12,000 mile service this coming Saturday. Supposedly takes 6 hours??? anyone know why? |

It probably takes that long because they have to rotate the motor and crack open a bunch of other stuff. I'm due (still) for my 5K on the Uly, so hopefully that will be next week. Ed seems to be always working because his days off are mid-week. For him to be off for rides, track days, etc, requires him to ask for special days off. And he asks a lot. As his boss, I'm constantly cursing him for making so many requests. Pretty soon, I'm just going to start telling him no. |

Re: 1125 service...its Valve Adjustment time... BTW: if they need spacers/shims, they don't stock them so be prepared to leave the bike. |

Most folks I know who have an 1125 didn't need a valve adjustment the first time... Having said that, I do not recommend ignoring the service manual. Hey Agfish, I recall you had a service agreement...good call. It should be free - no? |
