Specially if a Fat Bastige is riding in on something obsolete. Dalhonega has things to do if y'all are inclined. Gold Rush Days are held the third weekend in October (the 17th and 18th for 2009), when thousands come to see fall colors peaking and celebrate Dahlonega's 1828 discovery of gold. Over 300 art and craft exhibitors gather around the Public Square and Historic District in support of this annual event, and it is estimated that a crowd of over 200,000 visit over the weekend to join in the fun and excitement! It has been voted one of the Top 20 Events in the southeast by the Southeast Tourism Society. Included in the two day event are a parade, children's activities, a fashion show, gold panning contest, wheelbarrow race, King and Queen Coronation, hog calling, buck dancing contest, gospel singing and other live entertainment, wrist wrestling, and last but not least – some delicious food! And... While in town for Gold Rush, come out on October 16th & 17th, 2010 to visit the Dahlonega Rock & Mineral Show. Proceeds from the show will go to raise money to preserve the Captain McDonald House. The McDonald House belonged to a Confederate Captain who fought with the Blue Ridge Rifles from Dahlonega. He was wounded near the end of the war and was not at his units surrender at Appomatox. His home is the last Confederate officer's house in the county. This fundraiser will help preserve the history behind the house for future generations. The exact location for the event has not been determined. The times will be 10-5 both days. Vendor spots will go for $45 each. A donation of %10 of Sat. profits. Contact numbers Chamber of Commerce 706-864-3711 and Tommy Folger 706-973-0003. Lodging info to follow and other details to follow as well. |

A few years ago Silverbullet and I drove into town in the truck since it was pouring. We had dinner and walked around checking out some of the shops. Dalhonega is a very cool little town. |

Sounds like the roads around Dahlonega will be pretty busy with a crowd of 200,000 expected. |

I offered to take him out for a Burrito Platter dinner while he was here but he declined. He looked a little green around the gills. I thought it was from the gaseous essence wafting up from my saddle. Unfortunately he was suffering from peanut butter induced salmonella poisoning (remember the recall? evidently the Greyhound Bus terminal didn't). |

Kdan and I are coming! I've been back on the bike a few times this year but don't know if I will be ready to ride at Buelltoberfest. Think I need more flat-land seat time. Kdan's daughter got her license a couple of months ago so she and her boyfriend might be coming as well. Riding is best when it is a FAMILY AFFAIR! |

Ulywife, Not this year. We be po'. We rented the Trailer at TWO which will be great since the 3% usually camp down behind there. We're pretty excited cause we think Kdan's Daughter and her boyfriend may come with us this year since she has her license now. |

Where would one stay (camp) if they were on the most minimal of a budget? What all goes on? I am thinking of axing my annual trip to Biketoberfest and going to Buelltoberfest instead. I know it's a shame after almost 11 years of Buell ownership I have never been. It's not even that far for me since I'm in north Florida... |

Blasterd, You should be ashamed! You are close enough you could be a 3%. Heck, Smoke is and he is in Louisiana and Odie is in Balalama. Check out " TwoWheelsOnly dot com". That is where the camp-action is. |

Hummmm, since there's no more March Badness, I'm not sure how to answer that. You're coming to Buell-toberfest so maybe one of the "Ole Timers" can initiate you. |
