86129squids, I was wondering, If you remember meeting me in 2008 at smokey mountain hd [spit] I was up from fl. visiting my friend Dave Johnson, a service tech who worked their at that time. it was my first trip up there I had a great time. Anyway, I'm sure we'll meet again 57 days from now
I used to camp up in Pisgah in March... while I was in college... that is freakin' cold... but the thing is we were on the ground with full camping gear/ 100+ pound packs and moving most of the time...
I am gonna figure this out... only problem is we have a MANDATORY vacation between Christmas and New Years so that will eat up 30 hours of vaca time, unless I use sick time or take leave w/o pay...
Am thinking about taking the bike to the south of New Mexico and wandering around AZ, So Cal and NM for ten days or more over that holiday period...
I will decide here in this next week when I get back to work... soon... I would just love to hammer down there, but I am such a wimp when it comes to the cold... had a trip over the Rockies on my first bike which was spectacular until I hit the plains and had a 40 degree rain storm for three days... man that sucked...
Also gonna order the Hepco Becker hard bags for the Piglet... seems the M2 is falling to pieces now that I got the 9... almost like I might just unload her for what I can get... man I loved that bike... and now that I got the Piglet, seems she is rebelling like a jealous step child...
I've got to use some time too that I'm trying to work in around that time. A buddy wants to go to the Texas mountains in Sept. but my work projects are killing me so that one probably won't work.
I rode down to Knoxville in 1 day last year (was looking for Vern's but ran out of light). Then rode home from Suches (950mi.) in one day. The electric vest was nice since it got down to 40 that night.
If you are looking for a riding partner & it works in my schedule we can meet up.
