so I didn't make it out wed/thurs wednesday I sliced open my left forefinger replacing a floor scraping blade and then proceeded to crush my right forefinger between an engine block and core support of a minivan slicing it open but luckily not breaking it. thursday was feeling better and well bandaged up figured I'd fight the throbbing hands and ride before Bonnie comes in, and while working on the house one of my "helpers" placed a ladder beneath me opposite of what I asked and I came crashing down twisting my already battered, many times repaired right knee. so here I sit typing without using either fore finger, both wrapped in bandages with neosporin creeping out the sides holding an icepack with my crushed finger on my swollen knee (might as well ice them at the same time) |

Sorry I have been under the radar for the last week. Ruby is back in the shop, she won't idle worth a crap, which is something that has been going on since before the new motor. But now all of her get up and go is gone, on accelleration she performs like an overweight under powered bagger, and I am starting to become extremely frusterated. I don't think it is asking too much to have my brand new bike run like a brand new bike, I should not be having all of these problems out of it. I have even been considering trading her in for something that will actually run... that's how bad it is becoming. Someone slap me around and knock some sense into me, please! |

your problem lies not in your "Ruby" but rather in the reliance you have in those servicing/repairing her. many of us have several years/miles of outright hooliganism on our XB's including track days. we have all shared your frustration in the "dealers" ability to make it right and leading you to believe it is the "Buell's" fault. hell the "dealers" even have the inability to set my race ecm tps. now I'm sure there are/is a mechanic worth his salt here somewhere in our neck of the woods, but I have yet to have him service my bike. usually it runs best/longest after "I" open my service manuals and "I" repair/service it sorry your having these issues....Fresh12r had to take his in to 2 different dealers some 5 times for a battery that continued to die before they replaced his voltage regulator to fix it. 4 of those times were after I told him his VR was bad, but he did get a new battery though. I'd be willing to bet that upon "Ruby's" motor replacement they routed the harness incorrectly and/or did not notice a worn/shorted portion of the harness and after hard miles you now have an electrical problem (which by the way will bite "all" mechanics asses) and by what you are describing are having a problem with the exhaust valve actuator...happened to me once hopefully you'll get her back soon and better than ever...maybe the "techs" will get lucky and stumble upon a fix... a wise redneck once told me "you can't kill something that doesn't have a soul, you just have to find the right person to be able to make it better than ever!" of course he never had a Buell and I know both of mine have "SOUL". good luck finding something as smile enticing if you chose to trade "down" |

Not true. It's the incompetent mechanics that have her in the spot she's in. |

The majority of the bikes that come into my shop for service receive 60w oil, and the majority of my customers use 60w oil, those people are not having the issues that I am having. Moreover, it does not even make sense that the weight of the oil is going to affect the way the fuel/air/spark function. I am leaning toward cracked throttle body, defective fuel pump, hole in the fuel line inside the tank, or defective fuel injector(s). I am going to take her for a test ride tomorrow with one of the diagnostic tools installed. If they cannot fix her, then I am going to give the key to my friend- ex-harley mechanic- and he is going to ride her over to Ft Meyers where his friend works. My friend says his friend is the best Buell mechanic he knows, and I trust his opinion. I am not going to get rid of my bike, I just typed in a moment of raging frusteration! |

Torq.... There are a few pretty good ones at Peterson's North store. I was told that one of the techs in particular is often contacted by the higher-ups in Wisconsin for consultation and that there was a Uly in the shop that was sent over from the westies after they could not solve electrical issues. |

I picked Ruby up on Monday. There are a few things that they did such as adjust the cable that controls the valve in the muffler, and replace a fuel line because it wasn't clamped right, and reset the tps. Those seem to help some, she is running better than she was when I brought her in. But then there are a few things that they did that led me to rescuing her and taking her home. The tech dropped her and dented the header pipe, and somehow, very mysteriously, the cover for the oil cooler suddenly developed a slice/gash in it, and the front right turn signal lens is broken. I understand that things happen, I am not upset because of an accident, what upsets me is that nobody bothered to call and let me know before I got out there, and they knew I was coming! Anyway, that is the straw that broke the camel's back. after they replace what they damaged my bike will never go back there again. I will be riding Sunday, anybody want to accompany me? |

I will be at Cycle Lab at 8 on Sunday morning, I will wait around until 8:30. Whoever shows up, we will ride, whoever doesn't, to hell with you!!!! If you can't make it by the meeting time, and you want to join us later, call me 754-244-7539, and we will meet up with you. Ruby and I miss you guys, and I would really like to get a bunch of us together! Guy, I have been sticking address labels on post cards at work for our customer appreciation sale, and I came across your name. I made mention that I know and ride with you, and Casey chimed in that you were his competition when he opened the Lab, and that he had bought the frame that he is still using on his shovel head from you! |
