You have a beautiful, wonderful state. I hope none of you take it for granted. There was a Ralph Waldo Emerson quote stenciled on the wall of a little cafe we grabbed lunch at in Twin Lakes on Rt 82 on the way up the Independence Pass, "All I have seen teaches me to trust the Creator for all I have not seen". That's Colorado in a nutshell..... |

Ron, I am glad you enjoyed our playground. Lynn and I spent the weekend in Gunnison Nat Forest... Hey, I was worried about you since the day you were headed to the Royal Gorge they had a pretty big fire there. You will have to tell us about that. Frank |

Frank, the fire stopped us in out tracks going West out of Canon City. We had intended to spend the night at a campground several miles past the fire but Rt 50 was blocked off right at the Gorge so we didn't make it. The private campgrounds around Canon City were pretty sucky so we just stayed in a motel. Little did we know that there were some absolutely beautiful primitive campsites right up Phantom Canyon Road just a few miles from where we were. Of course, if it weren't for the fire we never would have stumbled across Phantom Canyon at all, so that worked out well for us. What a cool 25 miles or so of dirt road that is! |

Ah yes, I forgot about that road.... or maybe I was trying to forget about it LOL... I had the Uly down there (Cpilot, J2Blue and myself) but started from Cripple Creek and headed South... I think it is way better down South... I am glad you had a good time.. I wish we could have ridden a few miles together but that is ok... Next time.. Frank |

Yeah, I'd have liked to get together. Believe me though, our schedule was full! Pike's Peak, Mount Evans, The Maroon Bells, Red Rocks , Loveland Pass, Independence Pass (great camping at Lincoln Gulch just below the summit, even if it was a brisk 34 degrees the next morning!),Rocky Mountain National Park, Cripple Creek, Gold Camp Road...and lots of places in between. We stayed occupied... |

Saw a new name in our postings and had to jump in. Yes indeed this is a beautiful state. I've been here for 30+ years. My hubby and I will be heading out mid July for a one week trip with our toy hauler and bikes. Will be camping in Gunnison for 3 nights and Ridgeway for 4 nights. Have plans to ride as much as possible in our beautiful mountains. Glad you enjoyed our state and be safe. |

Yes, J2Blue like that too. Me, well, I will be buying a dirt bike soon but it has been since the 70s (save last weekend) since I have ridden one.... Frank |

I know y'all have seen these places already but....Mike Kuhn, my partner on our trip to Colorado has the beginnings of a picture log up on his website. There is a map of our route for each day and several of the pictures are captioned. You can see it here: http://tinyurl.com/2fdxz6m |
