There are cabins close by TWO, and Copperhead's only about 20 miles away (via mostly twisty roads) if you'd rather stay there. TWO has plenty of camping and some rooms for rent. Copperhead has a bunkhouse, individual rooms, small cabins (2 bedroom), and small cabins with hot tubs and M/C garages (in order of expense). They have a restaurant with good food, but I think TWO's food is a little better. Copperhead's in a dry county, but you can BYOB. Not sure about TWO (I'm sure someone will speak up.)
TWO is really cool to hang around during the day either inside or outside on the porch. There's a steady stream of bikes and riders coming through and you'll see just about any kind of bike you can imagine from the latest tricked out Ducati to a 100k mile+ rat bike that's been ridden halfway around the world.
Copperhead also has a big lounge area and an outside porch. There's less traffic if that's what you're looking for, but usually a few people hanging around.
Each one has advantages. As far as I can tell ALL of northeast GA is great!
15th-17th Sorry for any and all confusion. The first weekend of October is too crowded. I was told by a friend that happens to be a State Trooper, the first weekend may not be our best choice. There are different things going on all over the area, with tourists galore, not to mention everything that goes along with them. Mainly traffic, and traffic checks. Remember to have your tags up to date, as well as insurance card (you have to carry it now, the law has changed again) and your motorcycle endorsement. There will still be a lot going on, but it'll not be the opening weekend.
Fill me in here... Ken and I were talking about it last night... I got the post-homecoming blues... work is a bitchlet... it has been raining up here for weeks... piglet is neglected...
I wanna move to North Carolina... so so so so bad... I love my job, but it will only last another 6 months to 3 years (if lucky)... or if unlucky (I don't think I can do 3 more winters up here... I have already done 18 of them)...
Some of the best riding anywhere! Some of the best people anywhere!
It's not North Carolina, but as close as you can get without being there. The Great Smoky Mountains are only a couple hours away, and the roads going there are awesome.
If you like crooked roads, if you like to party with great people, if you like the mountains, if you like riding, you'll love BTF4!
Char, the project in Fayetteville now has funding. And they keep finding more problems. Keep trying them! I'm in Winston-Salem, 1 hour from the Blueridge and 4 from the ocean. I'm spending the week of the Fourth on the Pamlico. I'm going to be a crab fisherman! Great area to live and ride. Just re-paved my favorite road to work. But it now comes with a trooper every morning. I think they know about me. Kevin
Any group getting a lodge this year? I know the C3 group used to rent out a whole cabin "C3 Central" Ashly did the camping thing with me last year and though she didn't complain I know she'd be happier with a hot shower and a real bed.
I did two interviews for North Carolina jobs in the last year...
First one was in Raleigh, but it was doing emergency management for one of the big chemical spill response companies... and I just couldn't do the 24/7 on call... all night at an incident kind of thing with my health...
The other one was hazardous waste management working on Camp Lejune aircraft... which I would have loved, ya know, being around all those hot Marines!!! But those fockers (URS/EG&G) didn't even call me back to say the job was no longer available... bastards! I worked for them for three years in Milwaukee and they were THE WORST NIGHTMARE of an excuse for an employer... bigger DOES NOT mean better...
I find out today they were responsible for a massive gov contract where I am working now, and they screwed the pooch and settled out of court for 1 Million dollars... incompetent fools...
I google earthed the address of TWO... and came up with photos of Blood Mountain... reminds me of Cold Mountain up in NC... damn I miss it down there!!!
I LOVE HOT WEATHER... when you sweat off your tities going 90 miles per hour... but eh I already knew about that cause one of my best friends just got back from SC on a cross country beemer trip... that bastard!
hmm I really want to go this year to this but if I do It will be me going by my self because my wife would want no part of going from texas to GA on the back of my firebolt. I have questions though. 1. What is the chances of actually getting a camp site?
2. If not good is it best to just get a room?
3. and if so how does it work because it kinda confused me reading that website glitch posted up.
4. Also is there any one from Texas that is planning on going That would like to ride together?
Well I keep wanting to go to a buell oriented pilgrimage yet my job (the army) always keeps me from it but I am not deploying again and the timing was not right for home coming so I am definatly going to try to get to this one. I will probably go the tent rought as it seems to be cheaper and my wife would definatly want me to be cheap on such a trip.
Still Oct is a few months away so I will just have to see how things go between now and then.
