man I miss you guys so much. I've been stuck in Orlando for the past 4 months trying to make a living. Dan, sorry, the Blast granted me a YZ400F and I had to jump on it. Laurie screwed up and said she didn't like the blast and she'd never get back on it so it turned in to a monster of a dirt bike. The old Blast is up in the Kennesaw area, I'll try to find the dudes number and see if he is ready to get rid of it yet. Hia goal was to teach his girl how to ride, we'll see. |

When I got the S1, I noticed it seemed to have an inordinate number of hoses running around all over the place. Last night I took the tail off and started tracing the lines around. What I found surprised me. I'm guessing this system must have evolved over the course of several years and more than one owner, because I'm not sure why it would have been designed this way from the start. Ladies and gentlemen, prepare to be amazed. Starting at the breather bolts, a hose runs down the right side of the frame into a filter. I cannot explain why. Next, the line tees into a second hose. I'll refer to them as the blue line and the green line. The green line runs over the top of the oil tank and tees into the oil vent hose. The blue line coils up under the tail and back down. Here's a shot of the hoses under the tail, where we see a third hose. The red line is the transmission vent. It runs from the transmission, up the frame below the tail, and back down. After the blue line emerges from under the tail, it tees into a catch can. The hose exits the can, loops back under the tank, crosses over the oil tank again, and routes down to the ground. I removed - no exaggeration - fifteen feet of hose from this bike last night. |

Hope all's well Steve. Sanchez - All that line would probably hold about 3 qts. of oil. You could have used it as your emergency reserve. |

Awesome diagrams Sanchez! You could irrigate a garden with all that hose. |

ASSuming I need new seals. Stop riding. Do not let that crap get on the brake caliper, the brake pads, or the rotor. Or be prepared to get a new rotor, and pads. It'll cook 'em real good. fifteen feet of hose from this bike last night. Broses before hoses! |

Baaa .. dumb weather had a nice little ride planed for today too. Wife and I were going to do some exploring on the NE side .. across the bottom of lake burton, up the w side then back across on warwoman. Ah well. when the sun came out it was to much, headed out on the bike to go look for a charger for my camera, ended up stuck in stop in go, then rained on, then HOT, then rained on, then shopping ( while wet, in riding gear ) then well .. no good riding. Then while heading home, went to get on the freeway and the on ramp was .. clear of traffic .. that hardly ever happens but cold tires, damp road .. sigh took the ramp like a retiree in a winnebago. New12r - good to hear you have it running well. If you have any free time in the next week I'd like to drop by for a quick checkup on the Uly, may be riding or bringing the Uly to MI for a few weeks and would appreciate a quick check of the bike before the trip. |

I spent most of the day just vegetating, and it was wonderful. The only things I accomplished were bleeding the brakes on the S1 and washing the mud off the KLX from yesterday. |
