Jackson, when do you think this "maiden voyage" is going to happen? What with all the road salt and sand on the roads. I figure your warranty will run out before your thousand mile check-up. |

Charlie, I'm figuring the maiden voyage will occur the first or second week of April PROVIDED it rains several times to clear the roads of salt. Can't be having no pitted aluminum to match my rough paint . This fat boy can still fit in a large without opening the expansion adjusters. Got me a hep' jacket and some gloves. Now I gotta snag me a helmet for my big melon. Watching a few on Ebay as we speak so maybe I'll get lucky like I did on the jacket and glove combo. |

Nuts, That's correct6pm on speed vision....already got it setup to tape. They had a great race last night......I say they with a sad face, missed the first race, bike was ready....rider wasn't. He had a paper due friday(phd program) and didn't get it done so had to spend saturday finishing it up.But it was an exciting race, pro class was packed (19 riders) Weedmen won, Chris Carr was 2nd and i forget the rest. The weather was fantastic(till the sun went down) |

Hey Guys! Just spreading the love a little.. Reggie Primores' CLASS is coming to VIR July 8/9th this year. I've talked to them and we can get a 'group' discount based on numbers. So, if anyone has ever thought of taking this school, now would be a great time! I've signed up for both days and so has my wife, so each person after that starts earning the 'discounts' towards all of us! Simple huh? Check in the DC/MD area for a couple more details if you're interested! Later! |

Nothing like a break outta winter ride Charlie. With all this rain threatening to wash the gunk off the roads I'm nearly NUTS! I was only able to manage 1k miles this winter; spring is going to be full of tire changes. |

LET IT RAIN! I got my gear for the most part so as soon as the roads are clean and the weather in the 60's I'm taking the maiden voyage. Got the initial route set and although it prolly doesn't sound particulary exciting to you guys but I need a relatively straight ride until I get used to the new motorbike. I figure after the first 50 miles I can add a bit of twisty which leads me to the route below. Gonna take 220 south to 122 and follow it on down to 24. Take 24 back into Vinton and then hit the Parkway and take it to Bent Mountain. 311 back home which rides me right past my old buddy Nuts' house so I can stop for a pinch of snuff and a glass of water. Oh me the excitement is building . Oh, the Wood frogs are calling! First catch of the year is on its way. Seth if you read this and wanna go look for some amphibians before snake season kicks off get Nuts to put you in touch with me. |

Turtlehugger, I think you need a new map. From the BRP and 221(Bent Mtn) you'd head North past the Nutster's digs. To get to 311 you'd have to pick up 419 or take the Rod-V over Poor Mountain into Salem. Either way you should be picking bugs out of your teeth and preparing for another five hour cleaning foray. we had our first power outage last night. Let me tell you: when the lights go out up here it can get spooky. Two hours in total before the good folks at AEP got the juice going again. So now I need to invest in a real emergency kit. |

Jaxson, America is ready for your launch. Now if you lived down here you wouldn't have to explain the first 50 miles....because you would have to ride that far to find a curvy road.In fact you have to go about 150 miles to find anything decent. Nuts, with that "Big Toy" allowance you can't kick out enough for a couple kerosene lamps? |

Correct you are Nuts. I meant BRP to 221 at the top of Bent Mt. I always confuse 311 and 221. For that matter I usually confuse 116 and 122 and I live on 116 You know I'd get lost in a 2 bedroom apartment man. I bet that never been used, 8500 watt gennie I had run across your mind . Charlie, I'd honestly prefer straight roads and swamps on both sides. I can only dream of taking a pic of the Rod next to an alligator |

Nuts, Have you rigged up a way to run a drive belt off the Beamer to power the household essentials when the next power outage occurs. Hope your getting some riding in with all this beautiful weather. I just bought me a small tank and tail section/ Corbin seat(97-98 model) for mine. Will have to repaint both pieces, but should look cool. Jaxson, your every "Gator" wet dream. |

Nuts, I'll prolly be sleeping so if you come just place it in my vehicle. If you wanna save the trip I can make it over your way in the near future. With the disappointing amount of rainfall it looks as though the first outting will be postponed until we get some real rain to wash this mess off the streets. |

JACKIE, when you take the bike into RVHD, take it right back to service to see Doug, the manager. I was informed yesterday, he is the person who can get you what you're after. You can still appeal to higher authorities but Doug runs the warranty stuff and that's the route you should go. I took the BeeM the long way to the gym yesterday; saw one turkey on the Parkway. The ride home was a different story: same route, but in reverse. Counted 22 deer and 3 gobbler, turkeys. On Sugar Camp Creek Road the deer were stacked 10 deep! Still a bit of snow up that way too. Today is the last official day of winter and I'm going to celebrate by painting. Hope the rest of you are having as much fun. NUTS |

Thanks for the heads up Nuts! So is that around the side of the building? Charlie, Believe it brutha'. That dude has a house to put on the market now that he lives in a mansion. He's since become quite the utilitarian and seems to thoroughly enjoy doing stuff like that. I don't think our roads will ever be clean cause it refuses to rain. I'm hoping the old saying "April showers bring May flowers" holds true. |

Nuts, Did you make it back before the salt residue turned your motorbike into a rusty pile of dust? I was very tempted to take the bike out today when it hit 75 but the idea of the salt doing its nasty little business to my aluminum makes me throw up in my mouth a little |

All is well. I totaled 260 miles yesterday and had zero close calls due to gravel, critters or intolerant drivers. Helluva nice day to be riding though the winter has taken its toll on my riding fitness. Sore rear, back, shoulders and neck today but that will ease with more miles. Lots of bikes out today including two Buells. I saw an 1125r in Monterey and a 9 Firebolt in Fincastle. Charlie, those knobbies keep me riding sensibly. If they weren't so expensive and lasted longer, I'd have them on full-time. I think the rear might last 3k miles! |

Nuts, BMW with knobbies,WTF is the world coming to? The idea(on the road)scares the H out of me.Even "grass hoppers" are bad enough. You ride on those things exclusively?Once the middle wears down some,it's like cornering on a bicycle tire but worse.I'm just totally out of touch. Stay safe and buy extra padding. Jaxson, you'll have a nervous breakdown over that Alum. bike. You need a "big" maxi pad for that thing for and when(if you ever) take it out on the road. Only road up there that does.t have salt on it is VIR and I don't see that happening.Just harrassing ya cause I miss you guys. |

Its all good Charlie. Raining as we speak so my day of glory is coming very soon! Nuts got spoiled on those knobbies back in our dual sport days. I guess running them gravel fire roads at 67MPH gave him confidence. I just kept it below 25 and hoped he waited for me up the road . Whatsgoing on down there? Ya'll got leaves on the trees yet? Not talking about those Loblolly Pines either I mean hardwood trees. |

Jaxson, There's a local electrician that works in this complex that will give testament that it wasn't a fence lizard that backed him up against a big "Ole Live Oak" and made him throw down his string of Large Mouth's in order to escape Mr.(seven foot)Gator. |
