Hey Sam,
You got my attention with that Hawk Performance pipe. What do you know about it? How does it compare to others like D&D, Drummer, and Special OPS? What does Hawk do about the active exhaust?
Did you keep the active exhaust or did you decide to go with the open airbox style?
I'm looking to send my 1200 can in somewhere, probably within the next week.
Finally, is there any difference in the headers for the 1200s and the 900s? I can't imagine that there would be. |

Yes, the 12 header is larger then the 9.
I have the Hawk pipe on my firebolt and a spec ops on my lightning. I know Randy Hawkins personally and i prefer his pipe. It maintains 2-3 lbs of back pressure to give you a smooth linear acceleration.
The spec ops pipe is a gutted pipe, no back pressure, resulting in massive backfiring on decel. PLUS Randy turn around time is 1 day!
On the 12 the exhaust valve is not functional but is left in for people who are running the stock ecm.
I would go with the Hawk pipe. |

Thanks for the info, Sam. I plan to run the stock ECM for the time being, but if I get the valve disabled, then I'll order the dummy plug from American Sport Bike and run an open box.
I've read people saying that they've talked to Randy, and that he has suggestions on where to get the stock ECM re-flashed, which is most likely what I'll do.
I don't really see the value in sending it to the East Coast since the temperatures and elevation are different over there than here in San Diego, but maybe he'll have other ideas. Or, I might just go buy the race ECM from a local dealer.
I appreciate the info! Oh, and I'll also be looking into that 12 header soon. What can you tell me about it? I see the ding near the Y-joint. Has it been run without the front band clamp (or weakened in any way)? Do you know roughly how many miles are on it?
I'm not so concerned with the ding since I'll probably wrap them, but I'm paranoid about using a used part that might break again. I only want to have to do this once!  |

Thanks but unfortunately, this is news to me. It didn't get announced at the awards ceremony nor did I get a ribbon or check. Unless the check is in the mail? Did sell some stuff but the weather sucked.
Still waiting on the fan for my bike. Until Seminole finds something else wrong. |

Just talked to Seminole Harley, fan back-order until Feb. 25! They are going to check with other dealers and see if anyone has one in stock. Sam's checking on used a used one as a temporary fix. |

Paul, Sent Mount Dora 3 emails, when I finally heard back, they said I didn't win the reporter got it wrong. I emailed them again asking who then did the 12th award of excellence go to, they have not replied? Oh well, off to Naples National Art Fest next weekend.
Got the bike back this morning, it was great to be riding again! Hope to see you Wednesday. |

I'd love nothing more than to ride my bike to work each morning, but it's been so damn cold lately. I saw 32 F on my car thermometer on 520 this morning.
I'm not sure I'll be able to make it this Wednesday. My wife hasn't had any closings since before Christmas, so we're living off my paycheck for the moment which doesn't leave much for food and drinks out. She'll start kicking ass pretty quick. |

I took the week off to avoid court so I am pretty flexible in my scheduling. For sure I am hitting the Ol Skool bike show at Tropical Tattoo and bike blow up at Pub 44 Thursday. Sat. nancy and I hit JB's Fish Camp in New Smyrna Bch for lunch followed by hitting Miller's/Limp Nickie lot and the bike show at Last Resort.
I'll go over Tues./Wed. and hit Destination Daytona, White Eagle, The Loop, race track venders, Limp Nickie lot, Beach Street, Main Street, etc.
So it looks like Tues., Wed., and Sat. for me but I am open to other events/days
