Speaking of powder coating...dropped off my primary drive chain case today to have it powder coated at TNT power coatings in Yorktown. $45... I'll let ya'll know what it looks like. Price was right though. |

Phil, the 5k maintenance isn't any where near as labor intensive as they make it out to be. Check the chain, adjust as required. Change spark plugs and give the belt a once over. Its easy...these motors are pretty much bullet proof, hydraulic valves and air cooled. There really isn't much that can go wrong other than stupidity. I'm going to check the main bearings and clutch shaft just to make sure there isn't any movement from the chain tightening. I may be over reacting to it but I have only had high maintenance bikes in my time and I never had a primary chain to look at before. Well see. |

+1 on the DIY maintenance. It's not that hard as long as you can tell the difference between a box end wrench and a torx driver. If you have to guess which one is which then take it to the pros! |

I'm not sure, It's part of that "Unity" thing I was telling you about. I got put on the "List" and I've been getting invites to all sorts of activities and biker related specials. But I believe it's on the Pen. If you call just mention Hooligans like I said, he should be able to give you all the details. If he sounds puzzled, tell him "Peanut" told you to call. That should really clear things up! LOL!!! |

New chain case/cluth cover installed...leasons learned on this endeavor: 1. Ensure that if they sand blast your cover to cover ALL threaded holes. 2. If not...have a tap set nearby to chase all threaded holes. All the large holes were fine (they plugged those) but the small 1/4 20 holes for the inspection cover and clutch adjust cover had to be chased as well as shift bolt hole. All turned out fine but one hole that tightens down but is still too snug. However the chain case cover looks BITCHIN compared to that hideous gold color. Oh and HRHD F - - - ed up again. The chain case cover gasket is the wrong gasket. I'm seriously losing faith in this place. All the holes lined up but one in the center on top. It has to be something on the newer bikes compared to the 07s. I dunno. It just pisses me off to have to reuse an old gasket...no leaks though. (Message edited by Goody on December 15, 2009) |

Jason, sounds good...if you can use the bigger 55w ballast I'll swap for the 55w thin one (order the thin one and I'll give you the difference for the bigger one)...I think in order to do two lights I'm gonna have to do the slim ballasts, there's not much room left behind that flyscreen! |

all yous guys: don't forget to check/adjust your headlights height. all that light wont do you much good if its only 4 feet in front of you. the back of a shopping center is usually level and empty; great for aiming your headlights |
