I can't believe the Country Inn and Suites, right across the street from the Buell Factory, would not deal on that type of business...Very Strange- (I worked there for a time). In my opinion that would be the place to stay (I also worked at Alpine too in my younger days, so...). The Country Inn is a much better place. There is no restaurant on location, but I know where I'd stay. |

Country Inn wants $109 weekdays, $209 weekends PER NIGHT. A little f'in nuts if you ask me. Is Alpine Valley a 5 diamond place? No. But for a bunch of BUELL owners trying to stretch a buck, it works just fine. |

Rocketsprint- I just called the Country Inn and spoke to Ron. He told me a room, weekdays OR ***weekend***, would be $109 next June or July. He also said, he was sure they could do much better for a group. Ron said to talk to Amber, the hotel manager to work something out if interested. Like I said, I know where I'd stay man. It might be worth checking into... |

We have looked at the country Inn. Its a great alternative for people to book if the resort fill's. Thing is Country Inn can not host a dinner. Alpine valley has the room plus Erik and band to play. To let everyone also know. I have heard from Erik a little earlier and he said he would commit without doubt for playing. This shaping up to be fantastic. |

Alpine Valley will work out just fine for a group of rough-neck Buell riders! We're different in every sense! that's great news Dana. I'm glad Erik & The Thunderbolts will be playing at the 2010 Buell Homecoming! |

Rocco, selfishly, I like the 9th through the 12th. But, for the vast majority, the 16th through the 19th makes MUCH more sense. I also have a feeling that we'll get 100+ people wanting a track day. Since I put the survey up at 3:30AM, we've had 45% interested in a track day. The fact they the Country Inn wouldn't budge on the prices when called leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Dana and Rocco have ongoing negotiations at this point with Alpine. I'd keep it that way. 1st impressions go a long way for me Dana, sorry I didn't call you tonight. Got a bit busy. You guys are kicking butt . . . next thing to do is . . . just like you were designing a new motorcycle model . . it to set the "freeze point" . . find a day here in the next 10 that you will decide on FINAL DATE and LOCATION. That's all you need for now. Lots of folks are poised to put in for vacation time and commence travel plans. You guys are about to do the BEST job of Homecoming planning in years and make history by announcing it before the end of the year . . perhaps by Thanksgiving. I have a hankering that we'll have good international representation and this really helps those folks. For what it's worth . . Alpine Valley is likely far better logistically. If's a little bit of an older and fun down place but perfectly acceptable and for our intended purposes it would seem to fit elegantly. I stayed there for a week once and in the "off season" the place was vacant . . I'm betting we could take the place over. It's minutes from East Troy, would accommodate the band, and has enough rooms. Some folks, if they want, can still stay at the Country Inn which is less than 10 minutes away. I'm thinking the Country Inn (which is really nice by the way) only has about 50 rooms. Anyway . . this is going to be an event that may be bigger than we'd planned and you guys are doing a GREAT job! Court |

No problem Steve I was having problems with a co2 leak in walk-in cooler at the bar. Thanks Court,do you have any idea where Erik's new shop will be or is he retaining an area where Buell presently is. Would love to break a champagne bottle over the bow for a kick off there???? |

we have no intention of backing out of our deal with Alpine Valley. Country Inn would be a great ADDITION to the event, but when I called and was told they have 51 rooms, I figured it would be too small. Again, and I hate to keep bringing up this point, Alpine Valley is only available to us for the 16th-2oth dates. Done any other time and we WILL NOT all be staying in close proximity to each other, which kinda defeats the point. I'm going to set a "freeze date". On December 31st, the dates for Homecoming 2010 will be announced. That gives people PLENTY of time to take the survey on www.buellhomecoming.com If any of my fellow planners have an issue with the deadline, let me know. But we need to get a date set and stop stringing this along. People, as Court stated, need to know to ask for time off work, set travel plans, etc. If we keep delaying the announcement of the dates, we risk having fewer people involved. I know the dates won't work for everyone, and for that I am truly sorry. But to continue to delay setting a time makes no sense to me. The AMA and CCS schedules are out, which we as the planning committee were waiting on to see if the dates conflict. There is a date of June 12th-13th for CCS at Gateway which WILL be a Midwest Regional race. So we do have a conflict on the first weekend for us racers. The 16th-20th has no AMA or CCS races scheduled, which was what we were hoping for one of the weekends. We need to set hard dates to give people time to plan and for us, the planning committee, time to start getting dates set up for events. I'm sure Alpine Valley and the Country Inn needs to set dates so the can block the rooms. The may give us a deadline sooner than December 31st or they can't help us. We meet with Alpine Valley this Tuesday. We'll know more then. Stay tuned. BTW, please post links to www.buellhomecoming.com on other Buell sites, as this is NOT a badweb exclusive event. |

Rocco setting a freeze date a whole 5 weeks out from now is to long. Alpine is looking for commitment. Us telling them we'll let them know is WRONG!!! They are working to support what we are doing as of now. I really think setting this date within the end of this month is not unreasonable. We should have all our eggs in one basket after having this meeting Tuesday. If something happens inbetween now and then we could lose rooms. Some one could book a wedding and we lose space there. Right now the deal is all ours and its on the table. |

You guys may consider an advance pre-pay/deposit from all that say they are going. Cash talks.... And you would have "start-up" funds, plus a commitment from those who say they are coming. Keep up the great job. It will be very special to attend. Great location choice too. |

Mike, that is part of the plan. Paypal would be the way to go as we would have a documented site to show who paid and how much. I think we'd take money orders or cashiers checks, but much more involved that way. But we'll do what it takes! (Message edited by rocketsprink on November 21, 2009) |

I would say to make a commitment to Alpine Valley by the first week in December. It seems like some have already made reservations to the place. From what I'm seeing here on Badweb, it looks like a lock! Let's not miss this opportunity to have one of the greatest Homecomings of all time! once again, keep up the good work guys! Because this is going to be SPECIAL!!! |

$180 for a track day is a tad much IMO, consider me out for the track day. I am really digging the Apline Resort idea. Centralized and down to earth, just like us Buelligans! I visited Apline during Homecoming 08 with a local rider. Place seemed decent enough! Now the question is do I ride or drive? Maybe Hal's will offer tire specials on a set of Scorp Syncs installed? |

Now the question is do I ride or drive? Maybe Hal's will offer tire specials on a set of Scorp Syncs installed? I've been battling with this myself. Riding there would not be a problem for me, but I'm looking at 4 full days of travel time to get there and back, and I can do it 2 if I'm in a car (I REFUSE to just sit on the interstate if I'm on a bike). I'd have to make friends with someone to have a bike to borrow if I drove. |

Since nearly 2/3rd of the people who took the survey said they want it June 16ht through the 20th, I'd take a leap of faith and say those dates are pretty much set. Now, let me preface this with, I wasn't expecting much about Alpine Valley Resort. It was FAR and above my expectations. The prices are right, the location is AWESOME. about 5 minutes from Hwy43 & downtown East Troy. Their driveway is about 1/4 mile off HWY D. So it's SUPER quiet and secluded. The parking lots are more than ample to meet our needs. The banquet room & bar are are really large. They have a stage in the bar area. Perfect from Erik Buell & the Thunderbolts to play the night of our Homecoming "banquet". The rooms, most have 2 double beds, and are $70 a night weekdays(sun-thurs), and $80 a night weekend(fri & sat). Extra cots are $15 a night. You could easily get 3 people in a single room. Sharing the room with 3 people would make it extremely affordable. They are undergoing some pre-winter construction currently, so we didn't get to see the larger(and more expensive) suites. But those are $109 weekdays & $119 weekends IIRC. Now, here's the hard part. I hate ASKING for money, but this is the way it is. Alpine Valley is asking for a deposit to lock in the rooms, and to reserve the banquet halls and bar area. Dinner + concert is going to run $35. This is EXACTLY where I thought it was going to be. Along with the dinner and concert, we plan to have a few guest speakers, and maybe even a few raffle prizes as well. We need AT LEAST 150 people to step up before Monday December 28th. And just like in previous years when BRAG/HOG/BUELL were running the events. This is non-refundable. I hate to to do this, but what comes in, goes out. If we don't have 150 reservations by Monday December 28th, we will most likely lose the halls and the lock on the rooms. In the next week, I will be setting up a paypal account, and ecommerce section on buellhomecoming.com to take the reservations. So stay tuned for more news. Dana, Rocco, if I missed anything or screwed up ANYTHING, please don't hesitate to speak up. |

Thanks Steve..... if we could could we get this paypal going this week??? Alpine can and will start taking reservations starting next week Monday. Now for all you Buell fans. These room rates are locked in for these prices because of the banquet dinner. No dinner... no room rate. Alpine is working with us very close and opened armed. |

Pretty much covered it Steve. There was a lot of discussion between Steve, Dana and myself and we went over it a million different ways. But as Steve said, there is NO other way to guarantee we get this facility without getting the deposit in by the end of the year. It is the standard operating procedure for Alpine. I'm sure ALL places do the same thing. You need to think of it this way. If we lose this place, it will be impossible to find another facility that offers everything Alpine has to offer for the price. And realistically, for $35 per person, you get a good meal, a concert (included, NOT extra) with guys that designed and built YOUR bikes, mingling with fellow Buellers, and we are in the process of securing items for door prizes. These will be INCLUDED in the cost of your dinner. I'm not promising everyone will win a door prize, but we're hoping to get enough stuff so everyone has a good chance at walking away with a special item as a memento of Homecoming 2010. We are also going to ask if Erik will do an autograph session at the banquet and plan on having some guest speakers. Personally, I think in the end, the $35 will be a frickin' bargain and a half. It really is hard to ask people to spend money now, but it really is the only way to make this happen. If this falls through, anything we do after will pale in comparison. |

I think the price is fair for the rooms and very reasonable for the dinner/concert. We paid $50.00/head for the Dinner at the 25th, and we didn't get the concert included. (We had to travel 45 minutes to the Boiler Room to hear the band) My question is do we need to pay for the dinner, the rooms or both by Dec. 28? |
