Dana,

You're missing my point completely .. and you're taking it personally. I know you have done this before .. long before I showed up on the scene - but that has nothing to do with why I posted what I did, it's not a who did or who can or who should ..

Either way, as I said, and as Steve said - we've got a while .. rough stages at this point, everybody needs to just relax and have fun with this ...

Tattoo,

Not taking it personal at all. Point is people will move around. It doesn't have stay in Elkhart,East Troy,New berlin. Have it spread. That way out of towners see the area that they have come to. I'd like to work together. You guys are local.... i'm local.... Rocco is local. We can all do something can't we??? That is my point.. nothing personal. Lets see what we can do as the Badweb. I remember the best was the 20th. That was grass roots planned right here. It was one of the best times ever. Lets beat that one. If we can we really got something.

I really enjoyed the Tiki bar at the lake. Would be very nice to have the band night nearer base camp.

the only issue is if there are no races at road America, why have homecoming there? not close to east troy at all.
It's also a pretty expensive place to stay, and we must consider people not willing to spend a few hundred a night for a room

I really don't want to travel 1800 miles to do a track day, I enjoy seeing old friends, and meeting new ones. Meeting at various venues sounds good to me, I would love to see the barn where it all started.
I agree that we should be based out of East Troy to show our support for the town that has supported Erik and the elves all these years.
I really enjoyed seeing Erik at BadS1's bar during the 25th, that was a hoot!
I have no interest is stopping by Hal's, as I had a real bad experience there last year getting my 5000 miles service done.
I will never darken their doorway again.
I do enjoy going out on small rides to see the surrounding areas, there is alot to see and appreciate in Wisconsin.
Just my 2 cents...

the bonus of a track day in the schedule is you get to ride fast in a controlled environment. I can certainly see not wanting to do a track day if you rode your bike here and risk something going wrong.
It is a much safer alternative, however, than trying to "bomb" local roads. It's safer, not illegal, no gravel in turns (lots of that here in WI), no car pull outs........ you get the drift.
So I believe if it is to happen, we need to set it up during the week. Like Steve said, the usually do them Tuesday or Wednesdays.
Also, you can always come to the track and visit. I think it's a good, safe alternative and should be an option. But that's just me.
I usually am racing during the Homecomings, so I don't get to enjoy hanging out with people. I'd love to run the track with you guys too.

If "track day" cost $18,000 as was previously mentioned, what is the plan to acquire that much cash? At 100 people that works out to $180/person. Is that obtainable?

that is about the average cost per person for a track day. could be done in conjunction with an already scheduled track day event.

Thank you Bartimus. Although you may have had a bad experience at Hal's they are a great dealer. I've had bad one's at my own in my area but I have given them a chance to rectify it and It usually works out.

As far as Activities I'd like to come up with something thats never been done. Lets use are imaginations..... something.

Currently, Blackhawk has these days as their trackdays:

April 14th
May 19th
June 9th
June 30th
July 21st
August 11th
Sept 1st
September 22nd

The June 9th or 30th could work!

And I'm with Rocco. A trackday is far safer than bombing the local roads.

"If "track day" cost $18,000... "

The "at the door price" for a Blackhawk Track Day is $185. As a sponsoring dealer we usually offer the track day for $150 prior to the event. It is too early to tell whether or not we can offer the same price for next season. A "full" track averages between 100 and 120 riders split into 3 groups: novice, intermediate and advanced.

I nominate Rocco to head up the planning. He sets the date and names the base camp(s).

I'll be there.

My vote would be for mid-July time frame, whenever CCS/ASRA is in town. I can ride anytime. I seldom have a chance to enjoy the company of so many fellow Buell enthusiasts, let alone while at the track sitting back and enjoying a cold one. Very few things in life come so close to "perfect".

So Rocco has my opinion, but I'm happy to let him be the decider. He's a good man, and I know that whatever he plans will be wonderful.

Blake, the whole idea of NOT being around the ASRA/CCS races, is to allow the many racers we have to enjoy activities. I know Rocco, coolice, indybueller and many others haven't been able to enjoy the last couple of homecomings because of the race schedules.

thats what i was thinking, i understand its great to have a big buell cheer section. but i havent gotten a chance to talk to many of the buell racers at any of the recent homecomings because im not about to get in the way of their preperation for the races. and i know the few i have talked to have mentioned how they dont get to participate much

Can we get organized as a Buell Homecoming Committee and have a separate meeting from Brew City Thunderbikes? I would be more than willing to help with the early planning stages, but hope to be in North Carolina by June 1st next year...

I think it is very difficult to make decisions over the internet and suggestions are getting a little blown out of porportion here...

We could have people like Court or Blake, or other out of towners conference call in? Ideally Hal's would be the place to meet to hammer out details as their shop is rent free and accessible to most locals...

Just an idea but I think meeting in person, Steve, Bud, Dana, Rocco etc. is the way to do this... I am willing to participate regularly as long as I have no work conflict... or um, no job...

Just an idea, I haven't done this before but maybe we can start meeting in January once a month or something to make some decisions collectively?

Also, I vote for June 30th for a track day... but I don't know if I want another trip to the gravel pit again... so I am not too likely to do a track day during Homecoming...

My question is, since Buell will be gone, who is responsible for the planning and execution of such a function? Not only is there a ton of time involved in doing this, there is a bunch of money that will be passed around. Is this for profit or charity? Who's keeping track and making sure all involved are honest and doing as they state?

Needless to say, this all opens a somewhat large can of worms.

I prefer keeping the base of operations in the East Troy area, but am not oppossed to having some events elsewhere.

As has already been posted we need to figure out what WE want to do, then worry about where.

Here are my suggestions (keep in mind they are just suggestions);

Plan A,

Weds day (June 09 or June 30), track day for those who want (someone invite Erik!)

Thurs day, support event at Hal's/ local rides (less traffic on a weekday).

Thurs afternoon, Ride from Hal's to the H-D factory/ museum.

Thurs night, Erik and the T-bolts at Dana's

Fri day, get together in East Troy (maybe the Barn?) Hangout with everyone/ ride if you like.

Fri nite, "HOG" roast somewhere in the East Troy area.

Sat day, hang out in East Troy area/ local rides.
I left Sunday blank as there are riders that may have to use that day for travel.

Plan B,

Thurs night, Erik and the T-bolts at Dana's

Fri day, support event at Hal's/ local rides (less traffic on a weekday).

Fri afternoon, ride from Hal's to H-D.

Fri nite, "HOG" roast somewhere in the East Troy area.

I left Sat and Sunday blank as there are riders that may have to use those as travel days.

Plan C (very short event),

Fri nite, hang out at Dana's for early arrivals.

Sat day, Hang out in the East Troy area.

Sat afternoon, Erik and the T-bolts somwhere in the East Troy area.

Sat nite, "HOG" roast somewhere in the East Troy area.

Plan D,

Show up whenever/where ever, meet, leave.

Plan E ??????

Remember, these are just suggestions. Feel free to use any or none of them. I hope to be there regardless!!

OK at the risk of being COMPLETELY ignorant - what is a HOG roast?

Is this a legit H***** O***** G***** function (in which case, there's ZERO interest)? or are we talking pork on the hoof (whole hog, roasted on a spit - or in a pit, the whole deal)

>>>We could have people like Court or Blake

Rocco has my vote.

Simple case of getting the right number of cooks in the kitchen. Get several of you together. Do the best you can. It'll be great. I'll be there.

I don't know if I should be honored by your trust or insulted by your sarcasm.
I would love to do what I can to help plan this event, but have neither the time nor the experience to plan an event of this size.
The June 30th I don't think should even be considered because it's too close the the July 4th no-no most have expressed staying away from
Paint Shakers "Plan A" isn't a bad start.
