IT was soo....much fun... My new boots came in which have a lift to them...plus Frank took my seat off and he had an old seat on it with all of the stuffing out, which lowered me quite a bit. So I decided today not to mess with lowering the bike. Frank will just have Loren recover the old seat with minimal padding, I will have the boot cobbler put a one inch more lift on my new boots....and I will keep on practicing just putting my right foot down when I stop....and leaning the bike more ....I was kindof scared today.... But it is all good!!! |

WAY TO GO GIRL. Get some pics. I'm really glad you're not going to lower your bike. There's a thread on the 1125 board (lowering?????) that's had some interesting comments. The girl that will be riding the bike (an 1125)said she doesn't even plan on getting it out of 2nd gear. In reading that, my comment is, it's not the right bike for her. That bike intimidates ME. I'm getting a firebolt seat from on guy on the badwed and will do some reupholstering on it too. I hope it helps get me a little bit lower too. |

That thread is one of the reasons I do not look at that board much. CCRyder and Zac know what they are talking about. Looking at the bike it could only be lower than less than 1/2 inch without running into problems. That guy try to lower the 1125 is going to find out the hard way and since he is an ass I did not bother to tell him that he knows nothing about "Buell's Design Specs".... I am proud of Lynn she did well. |

Go Lynn! I knew you could figure it out. Is the bike a lot lighter than your nightster? |

Yeah, they just keep rattling on. It's sometimes funny just to read the stuff, some of it's way above my head. |

Yeh my XB is lighter, when I stop and put down just my right foot, I can feel the weight difference. I practiced that with my Nightster earlier today to make sure I would be able to stop completely and safely and not have both feet down. Frank talked to Loren tonight about my seat, so he will send that off next week..we told Loren not to have hardly any padding...in order to keep the set low. My XB won't be my touring bike, that will still be Nightster for long distance trips. One thing that was really weird was my leg position, I kept wanting to put my feet forward on highway pegs....but they were not there... |

I know what you mean about the leg and feet position. You will get used to it, and probably like it better! You get more control over the bike with your feet and legs under you like a jockey on a horse. You'll be corner carving in no time! |

Jodie and Julie,I forgot to tell you something else that is sort of funny....we had stopped at a stop sign just a few blocks from the house and I asked Frank or told Frank, I can't find the rear brake.........after he gave me that mortified look....... I said, oh I got it.....The brake sits back farther back than my Nightster. Poor Frank...I will probably end up giving him a heart attack..... |

Yeah, lots of experts on BWB, especially the 1125 board. They throw out terms of rebound and preload but they sound like academics, not from first hand knowledge. Funny that, Davey Durelle lowers all his bikes big time and he is the record holder on a motorcycle going up Pikes Peak which is one of the most challenging all-surface races in the world. You think any of the 'experts' would even see his rear tire after the second curve of 156? You go Lynn, Frank and you will know what is right for you. ~jammer |
