Oh I'm in for sure next year. Can't believe I've never been to a homecoming yet and I'm in Wisconsin! That Mississippi River Run sounds fun. Been awhile since I've gone on a long ride. Beautiful country in the river valley. |

From what I was told, Homecoming was planned by HOG. Are you saying that the dealerships set up all the lunches, race tickets, autograph sessions with Erik and factory tours? I will come right out and say it. This needs to be more about the bikes and the riders, not dealers. I guess whatever the outcome is will determine whether or not I attend. |

for the record, this is NOT a dig on Hal's who has time and time again went above and beyond what any other dealer in the area has done. I just think Homecoming 2010 needs to be about US! |

If it's about US - maybe let's schedule the homecoming around a pre-existing track day at Blackhawk? That would reduce the impact of having to reserve the track in advance for a particular day. Most track day operations are already putting out their 2010 schedules. (Maybe Bud could recommend a GOOD track day operator who runs Blackhawk?) |

I feel like Blake does. I'm not really interested in long group rides. Structured rides are anti-Buell, to me. Buell is about NOT doing what everyone else does. Some riding, along with hanging out with everyone is what I'm thinking. Still love the trackday idea. |

On the Homecoming ride - our group of 2 riders rode to the Knuckleheads for lunch. Very enjoyable leisurely ride. NOT part of the group. I'd also recommend a morning coffee location/time and then a luch location/time... with some locals selecting a couple recommended routes. We then ride our own rides and group up as desired - or ride solo. |

Blackhawk already has their track day schedule out for 2010. It's always done on Wednesdays. Bilansky also has said he'd be one of our control riders for the event as well I got a copy of the schedule that was mailed to me at home. I'll post it up when I get home. |

Now if we can get Danny Eslick to do a track riding clinic, that would be unbelievable. Ed Bargy taught me, "If you aren't sliding, you aren't riding". But I'll be damned if I have the guts enough to spin the rear up on purpose. It's too damn scary when you do it by accident. |

Tough to beat hanging around Lake Elkhart . . telling tales, swapping lies, couple folks get a hankerin' to ride . . you saddle up, ride for a couple hours, come back and repeat.. . . alway was a hoot. I'm thinkin' there'll be plenty to talk about. |

Gotta make a mental note to tell Tom Bumpus to bring some of that stuff he was serving up out of the Mason jar at Buelltoberfest. |

Countryview was a great place to camp. If anyone's up for camping next year, I'm planning to bring the camper and the coffee bar--since the wife's old coffee shop closed, well we've got the gear now. I guess Court will only need to bring the beans... |

Rocco- I am sorry you feel that way. We(Hal's) will do what we have always done. But make no mistake about it we are in the business of selling motorcycles and related products. |

"Rocco- I am sorry you feel that way. We(Hal's) will do what we have always done. But make no mistake about it we are in the business of selling motorcycles and related products." You're taking it wrong Bud. Let me put it this way. Should Hal's have a part in Homecoming? Sure. Should Hal's be the focal point of Homecoming? Absolutely not. Homecoming is about the bikes and the people. Not about any one particular dealership. My fear is it will turn into nothing more than a dealer promotion. I'm not saying it will and that any dealer willing to help out should be recognized for doing so. But not at the expense of other ideas. That's why I think it's important that Buell owner voice their ideas and opinions. The survey that Steve set up is an excellent idea, but people should still post here with ANY ideas they have. Even if they're not on Steve's list. |

Steve or Bud. I told you's that I'd have Erik play again. This is expense that I take. Not Hal's and it gives a place for some or all to unwind and have a beverage of choice and listen to Erik and band play. That was something I posted after 6am this morning with no comment. No disrespect but it seems have if Rocco is seeing or feeling the way I do. Its getting centralized just around just Hal's. Everyone that came had a great time the two years I did this. Please let me know. |

I still think it should be around the East Troy area. Hodaka still has their Enthusiasts go back to Athena Oregon every year for Hodaka Days! Why not the East Troy area? I wonder if the city of East Troy would make and sell Buell Blvd. street signs? ahahaha. REX Engineered in East Troy. Ruthless Engineering. |

The East Troy idea is fabulous. In addition to being very convenient I'm betting the Village of East Troy and The Elves who live in the area, whom I think we should invite, would welcome us with open arms. It'd be the perfect win-win deal. Fill up their hotels, jam their streets and generally remind them that regardless of what some business does . . . Buell owners don't waver and are appreciative. |

I really don't see how this is becoming centralized around Hal's .. Kirk has said he wants to be part of Homecoming. Why not ? One of the few Buell supporting dealerships willing to open their doors to us not a bad thing, and it's ONLY one day .. not the entire event. New Berlin is also a bit closer to East Troy and if the consensus is to keep it closer to East Troy, Hal's does fit the bill. Looking at the responses so far of the survey, very few wanted a Great Lakes Dragaway day .. so it kinda makes sense to just keep everything as close to East Troy as possible. I personally thought it was pretty cool having Erik play outside at Hal's. Steve and Bud are not trying to slight anyone ... and we are definitely not trying to make Homecoming about Hal's .. but I think it wrong to exclude them if they want to step up - it's one dealership, and it's only one day ... where's the harm ? Dana, I know everyone that went had a great time when you hosted for Erik during Homecoming .. but keeping with the frame of thought here - driving out to Kenosha isn't keeping things around East Troy. Add to that the fact that most people will be lodging around East Troy - it doesn't really make sense to drive that far - especially if drinks are involved - which we all know will be. So please, don't take it personally. Unfortunately it's like I said at the start of this thread ... can't please everyone, and somebody will always feel slighted and left out - and many will probably take it personally - which they shouldn't ... I know everyone, especially the locals, want to play a role in this ... but it's evident already that people are starting to butt heads... Come on everyone - we have nearly 8 months before Homecoming ... everyone just relax, take a breath, go for a ride ... your ideas will be heard and of course considered ... but we don't have to have a definitive plan today ... I'm sure some won't like my take on it but that's the way I see it. (Message edited by tattoodnscrewd on October 30, 2009) |

Sounds good, I would like to go to Bads1's bar, Hals, East Troy etc. The activities are irrelevant The location is irrelevant Getting to hang out with Buellers is what I am going for. After riding 1200 miles to get there I am not usually up for riding all over the state but that is something I really like about being a person of free will. I can decide to do what I want when I want. I am thankful that there are people that are putting this together. It is no small feat and a lot of work. It is hard to relax when an event you are putting on is happening. I have confidence that everyone will do a great job and make it a great time for us out-of-towners. |

EVents could be anywhere. I would like to visit the old birthplace barn, I have always thought that Hals did a great job hosting. Many good memories there doing the dynos. Homecomings have always been cool, regardless. It just seems like East Troy should be a target since that is where most things happened. REX |

>>>that's why I will gracefully bow out of the whole deal. Too many cooks.............. Please don't. This process is no more than "Brainstorming". We're throwing out and discussing ideas. There is no right or wrong, we're seeking consensus so don't get married to any one component. Everyone here means well. Listen, discuss and then we'll nail down a plan. |

Tattoo I know how far it is.... 35 minutes. Now you'll have to realize that I sold 70% soda that night. How do I know??? My registers do my daily inventory. My bartenders had never served so much Soda. Also not everyone is on a bike. Some hitched rides with people that drove to Homecoming. Or flew in and had rental cars or just caged it here from another state. This is not my first rodeo doing this. I've had part in helping organize Homecomings going back 10 years. Years ago homcoming were spread from thiensville to NewBerlin,to Suak Prairie to Kenosha. And that was just one homcoming and the host hotel was the Grand Geneva and that made for some interesting stories and riding. |

Again, this is just the VERY rough planning stages. Mostly just to get an idea of WHAT people want, and when. We'll worry about the where, when we figure out the 1st two I'll add another survey when the time comes to ask people WHERE they want this. Like everyone has been stressing, lets make this about US. We'll make this a GROUP vote/effort. Not just us locals. Dana & Rocco, and anyone else local for that matter.. Brewcity is having a meeting on Wednesday, November 11th at 6:45PM at Hals where I'm sure the main topic of the evening will be homecoming planning. Toni and I will bring the Pizza. If you haven't filled out the survey, please do! http://www.brewcitythunderbikes.com/e107_plugins/s urvey/survey.php?1 And can we PLEASE get an admin to post the survey link at the top of the page? |
