Hi Guys, Been out of the Buell loop for a few years with work and being overseas. I've got two questions you might have an answer to. 1. My 97 S1 is a rolling chassis with an engine hanging in it and I'm never in the U.S. long enough to finish it. Anyone know any decent mechanics who might want to undertake the finishing of my bike? 2. Anybody been by LCHD since they announced the Buell shutdown? It would be cool to have one of the first and one of the last Lightnings produced. If they were in the 7k range new I would buy one when I get home for leave next week. Thanks, Joel |

Joel- Wow! It's good to hear from you; I'd wondered where you'd been. You let me test ride your wife's M2 a few years back. Since then I've owned an S3 and I now have a Uly. I just got back from Lowcountry. Here's what they had on the floor as near as I can remember: 1- 2008 XB12XT 1- 2007 XB12TT 1- 200? Blast 2- 2009 1125R's (one red, one black) 1- 2009 1125CR (sold) 1- 2009 XB12R I talked to one of the salesman; he said they could give ~$3000 off the higher priced bikes (the Uly and the 1125's) and a lesser discount on the XB's. He said they had at least 4 more bikes in the back waiting to be uncrated: 2- 2010 XB12R's 1- 2009 1125CR 1- 2009 1125R I've probably gotten some of these mixed up but that's pretty close. I was amazed to find they had some swag on the shelf today- I bought 1 big Buell patch, 1 small, a key chain, a big Buell sticker, and a cap. They still have a little left. Get this- they have Lowcountry Buell shirts coming in any day. They were ordered 6 months ago- they called Friday to cancel the order and were told "sorry- they're already on the way to you". Better get 'em while they're available. Hugh |

Thanks for the heads up guys. Hugh, glad to see you are still on a Buell! I'm working my way back to the U.S. now and hope I can find a Lightning while I'm there. Will have to pick up a LCHD Buell shirt. Enjoy the riding season. |

Just added another Buell to the stable. Bought an 1125CR at Thundertower near Columbia this afternoon. Had a COLD ride home tonight! Man- they had recently added a dedicated Buell "experience" section. They have a LOT of Buell swag and are selling it all at half price! We bought a bag full of T-shirts and stuff and a new helmet for my wife. Go see Chuck! BTW- He gives GOOD test rides! |

Congrads on your new ride. I got mine from Chuck also, he's pretty good at getting everything set up for you. I would like to met up with you some point and time. I live in Lugoff and been through your town a number of times, nice locality. Good luck on your new ride! |

Congrats Hugh. I didnt need to hear of the deals. Its very tempting to try and get me one, but I dont think it would be a wise choice for me. How inconveniently timed it is for me. Oh well maybe one day................ |

Thanks Darren. For once in my life, the stars were aligned correctly for me to do something like that without worrying about it. Seriously- you guys should go by there and get T-shirts and stuff while you can- they aren't gonna be making any more of them. |

Ha- got hold of a pic from last night:
(note- I tried blacking out the flash from the reflectors to see if the photo could be adjusted better- not sure if it worked). Hopefully I'll have time to check the suspension adjustments and take it for a quick ride tonight. |

Scbuellkat, What was that GO WAKE stuff? 38-3 I think we will hold off on looking for a new coach yet. But you were right. That play calling going into Sat. game was very questionable, but we played the best we had all year on Sat. That was an awesome game, except for the weather... Burrr!!! |

Jomama, Yeah yall kinda tore a hole in them. That was pretty good. Like ya said the best game yet this year pretty much. We hung in there with Bama, but they are really good. Deserving of the #1 ranking. Too bad that very first play we had was frikin crap. The game would have been a lot closer if that would not have happened, but OH WELL thats how it goes sometimes. |

Hey Matt. Who knows? There may still be some around at that time. Even if there aren't, I'll bet you money there will be something with Erik Buell's hand in it being built within 2 years. BTW, that was me that was following you (Trolley/Medical/Ladson/highway 78) this morning. I saw the Buell sticker and remembered you had a Ranger. Another glorious traffic day in Charleston... |

Well, I guess I've put about 200 miles on the 1125CR including the ~100 miles home from Columbia. Definitely a DIFFERENT bike than an XB. Monday afternoon I didn't have time to ride but I did go through and adjust the suspension. Back was close but front seems to have been WAY too stiff. Went for a ride Tuesday and Wednesday after work. Ride and handling seem significantly better since that change. Also adjusted shifter and brake levers to suit my longer feet and rotated the clutch and brake levers forward a few degrees to make the mirrors usable. The height of this bike definitely fits me better than the Uly, so that's nice. I've been trying to ride at varying throttle and doing lots of hard acceleration and deceleration for the break in (got about 100 miles to go on that). RPM limit is 6000 RPM until break-in is finished. My brain can't quite fathom going 4500 RPM faster to redline. I can't see EVER using all the power this thing has. Nobody else jumped on a bargain Buell yet? |

I know there is a ride planned on October 26th to East Troy to show support for the Buell but, for those that are unable to make it to the factory, has anyone considered organizing a ride to their local Buell dealerships? |

I like to show my support and can't go to East Troy myself. Sounds like a plan to me. I work 2nd shift and can go in the morning hours. How about the rest of ya'll? |

Why not start a separate thread on the Quick Board suggesting this? I don't know if you could get enough participation to make a good showing (2 or 3 Buells showing up at every dealership in the U.S. won't be real impressive) but it's a good thought. I'm sure a LOT of people would like to do SOMETHING but can't ride all the way to East Troy. I thought about it pretty hard; it's about 1000 miles one-way from Charleston to East Troy. |

I am also down for a ride the 27th to thunder tower if it does not mess with work hours. that might be the last ride for me for about 1 month |

Demarsico- Definitely go see Chuck. I talked to him today and he said they are trying to get at least 20 more Buells to sell. He's already sold several more since Sunday. |

I need some help understanding. What would be the big deal Buell riders going to a dealership to support Eric? Buell riders never supported dealerships when Buell was going strong. Most owners buy and never return. Most work and repair their own,Buy on line and modify their own bikes or friends bikes. Most hated the idea they had to come to a dealer for a "TPS" reset and most found ECMSpy ware and got around it. When was the last time Buell owners gathered at a dealership? At a home or garage or diner SURE. And now everyone is looking to buy a Buell? Why? Price Yea!"I can get an American Bike bike at a Cheap price because I don't have to pay the real price to support Buell company or dealership. Will you come back to the dealer 100 miles away after you bought your new Buell? No! This is why Buell Died, it wasn't the product. |

Thats not the reason buell died. The bean counters wernt making as much profit as a year or 2 ago so they put a hack and slash motion into effect to divert all money back at harley davidson. The closing of buell will be used as a tax write off. If Buell pushed as many bikes as the big 4 sell sportbikes, i doubt it would have been killed off. |

No problem. On top of that, Harley Financial is really what is causing this crap, they made a lot of toxic loans on these 20k chrome barges that people now cant pay for since the economy has tanked. The ceo is cutting everything that isnt cruiser, so buell and mv got the axe. Not saying its right and a good plan, but thats whats happened. |
