I had a successful start to my IBA run leaving at 0 dark thirty this morning for 1k mile run to buelltoberfest, but now in this moment I am really shaken. I watched a rider go down on his goldwing at over 70mph just shy of meridian, ms about 2:30pm today. The bike exploded from the impact and I was less than 100 feet away. I was first on scene and he was very mangled. No gear but a modular that exploded and left his face to the asphalt. I have been with this man for the last two hours undergoing triage untilvthey could stableize him. Needless to say I am calling off my IBA attempt and will be in prayer for this man "Edward" for the remainder of my ride to TWO. If I can't see fit to make it all the way tonight I will rise early and try to make it by kickstands up @ 9am for those that want to ride with me. Please keep Edward in your prayers, although I didn't know him, no one deserves to be left on the side of the road in that condition. Btw, it took almost 25min to get an EMT on the scene. Ride safe Micah |

Sitting here in Buell Central hanging with some of the best, die hard, Buell riders there are. Further cementing the fact that I have the BEST Buell dealer in the country, Tom Bumpus is sitting next to me tossing back a cold one with me. Such a die hard, that he actually RODE down. Now I feel bad for trailering down. Tom, and two of the sales guys from the shop are here. Complete with box of parts in the event someone has a spill or needs a tire. Fantastic guys. If you need a Buell, Bumpus is your guy. You'll get no better treatment anywhere. These guys are REAL riders, and real Buell guys. I'm looking forward to a great weekend of riding! |

Rain was coming from the west so we skipped the Cherry Cola and headed straight to the Dragon. Got a run in and then we went down 28 (Fontana Dam road). Then we got wet!!. |

We got wet today, but had a nice run up and back on the Dragon. We're sitting at C3 central and getting ready to have a feast if Bumpus would stop giving us corn liquor. |

Don't know if you guys at Buelltoberfest saw the post on the Quickboard, but "Johntman" is there with a broken shock on his X1: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/406 2/500768.html?1254581245 Sounds like he's got a line on a temporary fix, but maybe someone's got a better idea? |

Just got back home from the happening. Made the 950mi. ride in 17.5hrs. It was great to see everyone and I hope to make it back again down the road. It is amazing the roads you guys have down there compared to what we are used to (even Arkansas). They guy that made the Fontana Village condo reservation is already talking about doing it again next year. I told him to make sure that it is the same week so that we can drop in on TWO with all you guys. I may even try to stay Saturday night too. Everyone have a safe trip home and see you soon. |

It's kind of hard to see but my 'Max Speed' one day was 212mph.
BTW, the dates are wrong, I didn't realize it was turned on and didn't set it. Actually the gps got confused in the clouds and dense trees on Hwy 28 and lost its bearings. I realized there was a problem when it showed me in the middle of Lake Fontana. Here are some we took around the area rides.
We offered to trade this guy for awhile and I think that he was going to take us up on it (even his wife was interested).
Bridal Veil Falls on 28.
Another Falls down the road where we ate lunch overlooking it.
At Fontana Dam
There was one picture that I wished I had. When I got down there Tue. Mike and I rode back up to the Dragon from Fontana. Just as I went a round a corner there was a bear cub standing on the white line of the other lane. A couple on a BMW LT had stopped to take pics facing me. I hit the brakes as soon as I saw him and started looking for mom because I didn't want to get her mad. As soon as he saw me he ran across the road right in front and he pretty much disappeared in front of my fairing it was so close. I had scrubbed off most of my speed and I didn't hit him but I bet I could have reached out and touched him as he ran by. He then scrambled up the embankment before I could get my camera out. I thought later that I bet the BMW couple got a picture of me almost hitting him but I didn't think to ask before they rode off.

I rolled into Nashville around 3pm. I had a great time, and my deepest gratitude to Ulywife and Carlos for being gracious hosts at C3 central. I'll be back next year if they will have me! I'll be posting up some pictures soon. But not tonight. I have to get up early tomorrow and I'm pooped. |

I got back and unloaded a little while ago. We put on about 300 miles per day Thurs, Fri and Sat. No incidents to speak of! Met up with old friends and made new ones as well. The Friday night campfire special quest was Dave Despain (of the ESPN/Speed Channel fame)!!! He was in town for a KLR event. Apparently Slowride was suppossed to be a part of the KLR event, but he opted for the Wing (to a Buell event no less)!!! J/K Slo... we love ya bro!!! To all my old friends; it was good to see ya!!! To all my new friends; it was good to meet ya!! |

Micah - you are a good man for staying with Edward. I'm sure it was hard to watch as it all unfolded in front of you. Prayers for Edward. M2nc and I are home safe and sound. We had a great time this weekend. As many of you know, this was a weekend of firsts for me. 1 - I rode solo in the mountains! 2 - I rode the loop for the first time! 3 - I went to Gixxer Corner and U4euh took my picture! 4 - Had Cherry Moonshine! 5 - Drug a peg on Blood Mountain...didn't mean too, but hey, gotta mention it! Only had a few pucker moments...got to learn from them as well. 1 - wide turn out of TWO...gotta do better. 2 - went wide on Blood Mountain...thats when I leaned hard to get my line back and found the peg...not what I was expecting. 3 - almost biffed it when I came back into TWO today and hit the soft gravel. Didn't drop it, but was headed to the bikes parked by the fence. Got my wits about me and headed to the trailer. NO FRONT BRAKES ON GRAVEL....I won't do that again. Webe and M2nc talked to me about what I did wrong and what I did right. Guess it's part of learning. Would have hurt my feeling to drop my little Blast, but would have cried if I'd hit someone's bike. Thanks for all the encouraging words over the weekend. I'm still learning, and have some of the best coaches around! Curtis - THANKS for the decal! I love it! Can't wait until we see everyone again next year. Way to go Kristi! By the time I ever get to one of these things, you'll be another one I'll just get the tail light view. Now, just to ask. Number 4 on list one didn't have anything to do with one two or three on list two, did it? |

Got home last night in the dark and rain. It was another great day of riding in the Smokies! Ratbuell, Froggy, Slowride, and I headed out from TWO over Blood Mountain, then North to Robbinsville and over the Cherohala. We didn't hit rain until the base of the Cherohala, just as we started up. It was just a light steady drizzle with no wind, thank goodness! Ran up on a slow group of six bikes, strung out too long to pass, too close to work through, and too slow to follow for too long. After about eight miles of it, we pulled off and took a few pictures got a drink and after about a fifteen minute break we headed down to Tellico never seeing that group again. Pilot Road II's are amazing rain tires! Slowride headed off towards Nashville, and we hit 360 twisting towards my place. When we popped out in Madisonville we decided to do the straightest shot for my place as darkness was looming and rain was getting worse. About twenty miles from my place, in the dark and rain, Froggy and I traded bikes. I knew his hands were wet and freezing so my heated grips would do him well, and he had offered me a ride on his CR. Although it was raining and using the throttle was out of the question, I was totally amazed at how smooth that thing runs! My knees were a bit cramped and I was leaning on my hands too much, but what a beautifully smooth engine! Hard to believe that the stock small seat was adequate for me, but it was. I can't see anyone wanting a sport street bike having reasons to not like one of these! You would have to be a squid bench racer with a hate for Buell's, to not be happy riding the CR. Nipsy had to leave us Saturday from TWO, and he left us a gift of Brats. Froggy, Ratbuell and I had a fine feast of those last night. Thanks to all who came to my layover party(both ways) and for riding with me. I had a great time. Joe, thanks for riding to my cousin's place with me. And, as always, seeing everyone at Buelltoberfest.....well it doesn't get much better anywhere.
