We shall see what transpires. My weekend so far is clean.
Sanchez, I got most of the top end off the DR. I need to pull the kickstarter and some other parts to get the side cover off, timing chain is a little slack so I will check the tensioner when I get it open. I also would like to run a compression test with the rockers off. Your compression release is sticking in the on position.
sure wish I knew it was there for those hot starts...

Hey folks, I've been thinking that I really want to try to do a great fund raiser for the fight against Breast Cancer. All money raised will go to the Susan G. Komen foundation.
October is breast cancer awareness month, so first of all, I wanted to remind everyone; If you have Boobies, get them checked... If you know someone who has boobies, tell them to get them checked. This is a bit jovial.. but the consequences of not doing so are dead real.
So, here is my initial thoughts on a fund raiser:
A ride through what I have referred to as the Breast Cancer Triangle of the Tyson family... I live here in Huntsville, AL, My Parents are in Pigeon Forge, TN, and my Sister is in Snellville, GA.
Both my Mom and my Sister were diagnosed back in October of last year... within a week of each other. My Sister is doing fine now after her double mastectomy, and is now taking a mild pill form of chemo. If you haven't yet heard, my Mom passed away on September 10... her 67th Birthday.
So, these three locations make up the triangle. Melissa has also survived cancer, just a different type. She had Cervical cancer in 2000, and had to undergo a radical hysterectomy in order to rid her of the cancer.
I was thinking of doing it kind of Iron Butt style; Having each participant get people to sponsor them for the ride, say a few cents per mile or something (the more the better). The rider keeps his/her gas receipts as proof of the ride.. etc.
I am thinking of scheduling this ride some time in the spring. I don't want to try to rush it for October and just have a mediocre attempt.
I will keep everyone informed along the planning steps.
Also, if any of you have experience in planning something like this, or the legal knowledge of what to do/not do, your advice would be much appreciated.
WOW - go out of town for a few weeks and the whole place fall's apart. Hope no one had any flooding issues.
Did my first long trip ( for me at least - about 750 miles each way for ATL to Detroit ) pack the bags and go trip. Spent some vacation in MI with family and did a few days of work. Ride up was great. started the trip by taking 60 all the way up and then 74 across back to I-75. Surprisingly the 60 route vs just interstate was almost the same distance and a lot more fun. Hit a lot of rain on the way back.
Just got internet connection (finally) today at the new place in TN. Things are good here...we kinda live in Mayberry now but it's cool. Looking forward to BTF. Got fresh rubber on the back just for the special occasion.
Hey RT- I am going to flip my S**T if you were the orange Uly I passed at the Powell, TN exit off of I-75 last night! Were you in the vicinity, stopping for gas maybe? We saw an orange Uly, black/silver jacket, traveling luggage, maybe 7:00-ish. TELL ME THAT WAS YOU!!!
Ok... I am doing a Cherry-Cola/ Dragon run on Friday. Side stands up at 0900 (thats 9am). Please have a full tank of gas.
Planned stops are Tellico Plains, 1 of the overlooks on the Cherry-Cola, Robbinsville and the shop at the Dragon.
Once at the Dragon, I will NOT be leading rides on the Dragon.
We'll stay long enough for 2-3 runs on the Dragon then probably take the road down to Fontana Dam, then to Robbinsville, 129 to Murphy and 60 back to TWO.
Don't be skeert, this will be an all day ride at a reasonable pace so as to not attract the attention of John Q Law. If people fall behind I will stop so NO ONE is left behind. Faster riders will have opportunites to go faster.
On one of the last rides I led like this, there were 19-20 riders. We went over the Cherry-Cola in near zero visibility fog. We all made it unscathed with no incidents. So if you ever thought about it, be at TWO on Friday at 9am and be ready to have some fun!!!!
P.S. We'll ride rain or shine. If it rains, we'll find dry roads!!!

Holy Schnikes! That had to be you RT! My mind is permanently blown. What are the odds of that? My parents live off that exit, we are about 10 miles north on I-75 from there and were going there to visit.
Glad you had a good trip. Big mile trips are major fun.

Paint- wish I could get there soon enough. Have yet to ride the Dragon. Not leaving Al. until 0600 CST and then 5 hours driving to TWO. Have fun, be safe, see ya when you get back.

Odie, leave earlier!! Come on, you know you want to ride and hear the sweet music of your can on my bike!!! LOL
New12, what is GSOP? (I'll be at the WERA GNF's the following weekend of Buelltober Fest).
For the earlier birds;
Thurs,
I was thinking of a "go east ride". 180 from TWO to 17 (I believe). Will then catch Warwoman rd over to South Carolina. Up into North Carolina. Back west and then back down in to GA. This ride also takes most of the day.
Another Option; There is a WWII Airborne Museum in Curahee. We could go there. The route isn't that twisty, but there sure is some history in that museum, including and authentic English Stable (brought from England and rebuilt with exacting detail)where US troops were housed prior to D-Day.
Another option; North on 60 from TWO into Tenn. West on US64/ 40 along the Ocoee River. South on 441 back into Ga. Back east across 52/2 (this is an awesome road, very twisty and mostly on the ridgeline). Continue along 52 into Dalonaga. This another mostly all day trip and the one I leaning towards the most (or we could ride this route in reverse).
Saturday, October 3: Ray Dog's Rockabilly Party, bike show, & swap meet @ Granite Mountain Harley-Davidson & Buell. Food, vendors, & live music from The Psycho Devilles! Come out & join us!!
