Dinosaur Bar-B-Que (Syracuse) named #1 in the Country. Is 9am too early for Ribs? Or Coleslaw? Or Bar-B-Que Beans? And Devil's Duel on top of two of those previously mentioned? I didn't think so either. Happy Memorial Day Everyone and never forget what this weekend means to Our Great Country as a Whole. .......Freedom......... Thanks to Our Great Military Personnel. The Greatest Military and Greatest Country the World has Ever seen. Too bad I cannot honestly say the same for My Government, desperately trying to turn Our ship in the wrong direction. Since they are obviously lost, let us tell them..... "Follow the Constitution". God Bless and Ride Safe, Roadcouch |

I met a nice New York State Trooper today. I say nice as 96 in a 55 with a warning is pretty damned nice, wouldn't you say? (Message edited by roadcouch98 on May 24, 2009) |

Buell 1/ Deer 0 Decided to get in a little ride this am before some friends came over for a bbq.... Went out Rt. 80 through South O, Otisco and ran into a couple buddies in Tully. We all left and were heading towards the city down Rt11a.....very nice, scenic slightly twisty road that runs through farms etc..... Was tooling along at a good clip....maybe 70-75 when out of the left side I see a fricking deer.......and he is crossing right in front of me......no time to brake......just stayed in it and held on tight.....bamm.....but I stayed up...just a little wobble....... I get it stopped and couldnt believe I wasnt still skidding along the road..... I caught his right rear and just sent him flying...... The guys I was riding with ( an Old friend of my family's...big ol harley guys) and he was white as a ghost.....said all he saw was a puff of fur and me wobble....thought for sure I was heading down.... Went back up to where it was.....was in the ditch dead....Was a good size button-buck (thats what the sheriff called it...?...I dont hunt) Gotta check it over better....but looks like he hit the fender and came around and smashed my Forcewinder filter and bent in the brake lever...and bent the front rim....and thats really all....I still can not believe it.... Luv2, Glad you are OK. They are never good to see headed for the road, even in a car, let alone on a bike. I guess you could have used some of my Good Fortune today. Hope your bike is not too bad also. Roadcouch98 (Message edited by roadcouch98 on May 24, 2009) |

2Jugs, sounds like my encounter last spring. 'cept I caught the sucker in the head/shoulder as it literally dove out of the woods into me. The only reason I was on the breaks is because of the two other deer racing across in front of it. Mine was a button buck too.....about 90lbs. The Uly shuddered a bit, but overall was rock steady through the whole thing. Cleaned out my shorts, picked up my signals off the road and raced the last bit of daylight home(headlights dead). Glad you made out good too. Hopefully that's your close call for the season. Couch, sounds like you caught a Trooper having a good day...........possibly a rider to boot. Especially considering the EXTREME pressure they are getting from Albany to go after MC riders for compliance. (Message edited by ulyranger on May 25, 2009) |

I just had to post this. I had a Court Appointment Yesterday and parked the Road Glide next to a newer Black Corvette, stuffed to the Gills with pillows, blankets and clothes. So much so that the Hatch was open, and in the car are two old ladies. I am parked on the passenger side of the car, and the woman on that side is 75-80yrs old.The driver is older than that. We start talking, and the driver asks if it is a Sportster,or a HOG, and I said HOG and she asks if I carry a tent on the back, and I'm thinking these are two cool old ladies, so I ask eventually what they are there for. The passenger says "110/mph,just drying it off". Unfargin' believable. It was too cool talking to them. They are still there when Court is Out and the passenger is standing outside the car smoking a cigarette. I start talking with her and fire up a cigar myself, when after a couple of minutes the driver Beeps the horn and the passenger says "I gotta go, my Mom's waiting"!!!!!!!!!!!!!Are you kidding me? Mom's driving!?! I'm standing with the passenger and she is 75-80! That means that the Driver is 90+++ yrs old!!!! And I did not bring my camera phone! *@#$%* Sorry for all of the Exclamation Points, but it was one of those moments. And it is ALL true. And this happened 1/2 mile from where I posted on here, - "96/55mph". You cannot make up stories this good. Experiences like this make me believe God has a better sense of humor than we do. I saw a red Firebolt today in Carthage. It was in a parking lot across the street from a tire store. Anyone on the board? I'm heading to Americade tomorrow morning with another biker. Maybe I'll see a few Buellers over there. I wanted to go to Homecoming, but it just couldn't happen this year. |

Ulyranger, You are most Welcome. When things like that Happen in Life, it makes you realize that not everything is Normal, or Should be Normal.Isn't that why we Ride Buells? Buell's are not Normal, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Hell, tell me if this is Normal.I have sitting in my Barn, a 1975 Gremlin(of the AMC variety) with a 1966 vintage 389 Pontiac in it.The Pontiac motor is currently sitting in its 5th vehicle since it was New, and of those 5, the 2nd Gremlin. All those Engine Swaps I've done myself back in "Shall we Say",my more Energetic Days. Ford 9",TH400,custom Headers,Big Weight Loss Program, etc etc etc Built it up myself(though not finished), but is that Normal? No, but very friggin' light and short.....AND UGLY,but not Normal. WHY BE NORMAL?I cannot think of one reason. Roadcouch |

Talk about the ultimate sleeper!! Who'd think an ulgy little Gremlin be packin' that much heat? I like it. Big weight loss program? How the heck do you get that thing to link up with any traction? You'd have to put new sneakers on it weekly for crying out loud. I had friend from my high school years that drove a Chevy Luv PU all modded out with a Corvette LT350 & th400. That lil' truck would fly. My '68 Camaro RS, 327 & 2spd Powerglide would take him off the line 0-60....but his 50-100 was crazy. I think my RS was done at 95 or so anyways. Ah, the muscle car days......... |

Big weight loss program... Frt bumper and supports, AC system, power steering, back seat helped me get rid of over 300 lbs, & the back seat which was only plywood a little foam and vinyl covering anyway, But yeah, 300 lbs off of the front end.Front Tires are From a Ford Escort real tiny little 14"ers. Looks pretty Bad Ass w/ 275/60/15's on the back. I have not had the Gremlin running in many many years. 1995 I think, when still living in Fl. It just sits and waits to be torn down again to replace Pontiacs famous leaking rope rear main seal with the newer technology silicone (I think). Some better gears for the rear end. Got the 9" out of a Granada as in Ford, w/2.73's in it and only 1 leg. I'd like to get a set of 3.89's and a Locker of some sort and do a little more wiring on it. Also have a Overdrive 4 speed Auto from a Monte Carlo SS (200R4) that has the correct pattern Bellhousing which bolts to Chevrolet along with B.O.P.C.(called Unibell Bellhousing) sitting in the passenger seat, also waiting to be freshened up with rebuild kit and Performance valve body to handle the torque. Torque,...torque,...torque. Where have I heard that word before? Someday I will start playing with it again. I think I'll tour the Country with it too, as I left the Luggage Rack on the roof, cuz it looks so damned goofy almost like the ears on the Gremlins in the movies. |

Luggage rack too? That's too much, would love to see that beast. Even better to hear it speak. My build projects lately have chainsaws, simple 2smoke motor, can usually tear one down and have it back in shape in few days. Of course depending on how much help and/or parts it needs. About all I can put time into right now. Would love to be able to get into an old muscle car or a Willys jeep, but know it would just sit....... |

Uly, You are right about projects sitting around. Mine has sat around since I dragged it from Florida in 1995. The Body is practically mint and the paint not too bad, but really miss messing with it. Just never get around to it, plus now with a 3 year old, single Dad, and starting nursing school this Fall, now is definitely not the time or Funding to do much of anything. I did fire up an old Scooter that my Dad rode around Fla. A 1996 Yamaha 50cc. Razz/Riva. Needed tires and turn signals, along with new air filter.Air Filter turned to mud, so I put on a KN type filter and ditched the airbox. Like riding a Fat Woman(aka)Ex-Wife. Do it in the dark. hey Treefrog, Do you get the same looks I get when you ride your bike in the rain? I saw you the other day but I was forced to drive the cage to work. My cowokers think I'm nuts. I just tell them if they owned a Buell you would ride in the rain too. |

Hey, passed a black(stealth) Uly on Rt3 between Harrisville and Star Lake last evening (about 1730 ish Sunday). It was behind to H-Ds. Any chance it was Rotorhead or Treefrog??? I was headed back from camp and had a caravan of cages behind me so didn't get a good look at the bike/rider. I waved, but had to keep my pace to keep the cages from biting my heels. |

Ulyranger, I ride a red XT so it wasn't me you saw, but it could have been a guy named Patrick that works on post. He has a black 06. Rotorhead, I do get that, "Don't you know it's raining?" alot. Usually I'm grinning to much to say anything. I did get a little wet coming back from Americade. One of the guys who teaches the MSF course on post rides an 03 Lightning. I told him about the Badweb last week, but I don't know if he ever got on to check it out. I'm taking mine to Utica Friday for it's first service. I'm sure I'll have plenty of chances to get wet going down there. |

Trapper, I have been waiting for someone to talk to and been doing a lot on Quick Board. What's new? have You seen the Buell Blast Discontinuation Fiasco going on around this site and if so what is Your Opinion of the way it was TAKEN OUT? Did You sign up on Buell.com for a Free new design Buell sticker yet? Roadcouch98 |

I often do not get a chance to get online for several days at a time, but when I do I like to keep an eye on this forum/thread. Haven't checked the quick Board in some time and was not aware of the Buell Blast Discontinuation. I guess I'll need to check that one out. I have been checking out Buell.com daily, of resent, but did not notice anything about getting one of the new stickers. I have been looking for the announcement about winners for the great american adventure ride grant program. They originally posted that the winner would be posted on or about 17 July, but haven't seen nothing, yet. Got my fingers crossed. I did notice on Buell.com that when you do a dealer search, Utica HD is no longer listed as a Buell Dealership! I'd heard rumors, but that is the first I'd seen something official. On a similar note the HD dealership in Rome is no longer a HD dealership, either. Seems the corporation is doing some house cleaning. Hope they do it wisely! My wife broke her leg last month and I have curtailed my riding, a lot, to help her and tend to the domestic duties she has not been able to do. I take her back to the surgeon on Monday and we'll find out when she can start physical therapy and I can get a better handle on riding; other than very short local jaunts. |

I rode by Dick's on Friday and the Harley signs on the building had the Harley-Davidson removed, but the big sign by the road was still up. They looked open for business with some customers bikes out front. I did not stop or ask as I have never been much of a customer of theirs any way. Rome already has Al's as far as V-Twin independent shops go, so not sure what the plans may be for Dick's. Last night I noticed on ADV Rider there was more than a little info about the fate of the Blast. So, went to the Buell.com site and clicked on the 2010 Blast to see for myself. Was I surprised!? Sad thing to see. I wonder what Eric may have up his sleeve. For the entire line, even. The Adventure bikes are not racers, either. |

Funny You mentioned Al's as I went to Dick's after snapping drive belt on my S1, whereas I was told at the counter they do not sell Buell parts(5,6,7years ago). I said belt was same as XL."No it is Not". Yes it is. It says so in my book."Go get Your Book". I went to Al'sand he sold me a belt for an XL Made in USA no less and I am sure at a much better price. Good Riddance to Bad Dealerships. I should like to see the same happen in Syracuse. He sells Buells, but is a Capital A''hole. |
