I'm "at risk" for one of these weekends: Aug-29 or Sept-5. Can do Sept-12. |

Ahh the weekend of sept-12 me and dad will be up around iron horse camp ground on the jap bikes. The weekend b4 will be labor day weekend, sept 5. Oh yeah work is screwing everything up for me so I probably wont make buelltoberfest unless something good happens between now and then. Running out of vacation time. I want to go though. I will have to wait and see. Mountains seem to be good for me. I will know more closer to time. Just post the idea here! |

12 September might work for me too. My daughter is getting married the weekend before so I expect I'll be in dire need of some two-wheel time myself! |

I saw a really nice Buell at Lowcountry yesterday; it's a recent purchase by Badwebber "Buelltours". He's the same guy that bought my S3 last year. It's an RS1200; read more about it here: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/21/ 466488.html?1244473117 Buelltours was in town visiting some friends (he's a former Charleston resident) and dropped by Lowcountry to show his "new" bike to Mike, their chief Buell tech. The bike's got some non-original parts, but some of those are very cool. For instance, the bike originally came with chain drive but the original owner took it back to the factory and evidently Erik himself did a one-off belt conversion for it. The front and rear pulleys JUST clear. |

I just received the following message via the TWO bulletin board. I assume it is legit... A note to all riders, the Suches General Store will not longer be open on Sundays. No fuel will be available, if you need it, get it down the hill before coming up. C-Ya! Two Wheels Only Motorcycle Resort http://www.twowheelsonly.com Suches, GA |

Hi Gerald, haven't seen you posting in a while. How's the Uly doing? |

I have not been riding much in the last 6 months. But the ULY is running great. My son and I just spent three days in the North Carolina/Georgia mountains riding all day long. We had a good time - and no accidents or mechanical problems. It was still a little warm, but as long as you were moving it was fine. Deal's Gap was horrible - a parade again. Suches was great. |

XB12 came to me with a Micron system, race ecm, and leaking intake seals. R&R'd seals and we're back on the road, but I want to try it quieter. Stock header & exhaust arrived today from http://www.BUELLsterparts.com (thank-you, LIST). Do I need exhaust valve actuator for relatively flat torque-curve, or what? |

Yea, I think if you don't have the actuator it'll have a big hole in the torque curve. You'll also get a "check engine" light if the previous owner didn't leave the old actuator in place, install an emulator, or turn off the feature in the ECM using ECM spy. A new actuator costs about $125; maybe you can find one of those used too. |

Thanks, Hugh. Looks like a "more parts hole" to get stock exhaust on. : ( T'Tower has a new Blast on the floor. Aren't these collectible now? Can't buy a blank key for my XB; but, if I have its VIN, parts can order it pre-cut. Hmmm. |

Evidently they're still making Blasts, they just aren't calling them Buells. A Badwebber at another dealer posted some photos last week (before the dealer show) showing a 2010 Blast with no Buell badging on it. I found an old post here that says an Ilco-270 key blank will work for an XB. You may have to go to a locksmith to find one. |

Hughlysses: Was in a HARLEY-DAVIDSON Dealer in Virginia which had only BLASTs on the Show Room Floor ... When "i" ask where the rest of the BUELLs were, "i" was told that they only sold the BLAST Model ... This was done so that any Dealer can sell the BLAST Model !!! So now any time "i" type BLAST it will be HARLEY-DAVIDSON ORANGE !!! In BUELLing LaFayette |

LaFayette- that seems to back up a theory posted in another thread. The main reason for de-Buelling the Blast may be so that any Harley dealer can get them and get parts for them. The present company rules say only Buell dealers can sell the bikes (new) or get parts for them. Hey, does anybody know any place in South Carolina (lowcountry preferably) where you can get something equivalent to Jet Hot coating (high temperature ceramic header coating)? My Uly muffler's due for a repaint and I was thinking about having this done. |

There is a place in Conway, SC that does ceramic coating and powder coating. http://www.hmsperformancecoatings.com/ceramic/cera mic.html would be a little bit of a drive from Charleston. |

Hey Joseph, thanks for the recommendation. I guess I could ship it to them. I requested a quote from Jet Hot; they will send box, you ship back, they coat, and return. |

Wow, it is dead in here. I spent most of the weekend doing 20k maintenance on the Uly. Also painted the muffler last week and reinstalled it on Saturday. Got one of the new "Rider Comfort Kits" to install, then realized they'd left out the inner portion of the new right side scoop. Court promised me Lowcountry will have the missing part tomorrow! Hope to tackle that install tomorrow night. |

So far, a lovely summer! Krista and I made a loop into the mountains last weekend; spent two nights out: Hot Springs & Asheville. I've put in a K&N filter, fixed intake seals, and can NOT seem to get mighty XB to run smoothly. Felt like I made better progress when its intakes were leaky and AFV stayed around 128, regardless of tuning. : ) |

Tree- the stock ones seem fine. I went with the NGK Iridiums this time, but the only thing you can say for sure about them is they will last longer. They do cost $10 each and you'll have to order them. Still waiting on my missing right side scoop piece to show up at the dealer... |

Hi, I had been using the Buell race plugs and they are great, for some funny reason I was able to gain at least 5 more mpg on my mileage. I am also using the race filter too. On the subject of mpg, I was able to get the most is 62 mpg just driving easy. On th the average I get 52 to 58 mpg. The highest is when I modified my pipe to get more sound and still maintain back pressure, I retained the valve also. Not a completely gutted pipe job. Been happy with it. I will get the rider comfort kit down the road at a later time. (Message edited by coldwind on August 12, 2009) |

just bought a 2009 lightning XB9 City, from thunder tower. i had it about 2 weeks and still breaking it in, only 440 miles so far. my issue is today it just died on me. i thought it was out of gas but the fuel light never came on so i checked the tank and there was fuel in it. so after about a hour of messing with it and trying to get it on the truck we got it home. i decided to check the fuses. and discovered that the fuel pump fuse was blown, it is a 10 amp fuse, and i replaced it with the spare provided. is this common for a fuse to blow. it runs again but i dont know for how long. should i let thunder tower look at it or just drive on with a spare fuse and if it happens again bring it in. anyone have any advice. thanks |
