Heading out for the second installment. Charlotte to Boston. Visiting my son in Boston. While there, we may do a two up day trip into New Hampshire while I'm there. I'll post updates on a regular bases.

Saturday I just scooted across Virginia. Sunday was spent touring the National Parks along the Potomac. The highlight was seeing the Marine helicopter that serve's the president. Who knows if the president was on board, but at least there a chance I saw Marine One in flight. After that it was on to Antietam National Battlefield in Maryland. That's a surreal place to visit. I can't imagine 23,000 casualties in a single battle. Pictures posted up here: http://picasaweb.google.com/bryan.mcneely/National ParksTourII?authkey=Gv1sRgCLTxrdn89_vZVw&feat=dire ctlink |

Sunday I visited Washington Military Headquarters in Morristown, NJ. Then drove to the Franklin D Roosevelt Home in Hyde, New York. Currently at my son's house in Boston. Didn't get the bike out at all today as it rained all day long. But that's been the pattern for Boston this summer. Interesting that I did'nt get a drop of rain all the way up here and now the forecast is for rain the rest of the week. The area of Boston my son lives in is fairly hilly. Between the hills, the traffic and the rain, I'm in now rush to get the bike out. Still looks, like eventually I will have to get out and brave it, at least till I can get farther west where the rain seems to be far less frequent. |

Managed to stay dry so far. My son and I did a two-up trip to New Hampshire and Vermont on Wednesday and Thursday. Started raining just as we got back to Boston. Rain was mostly misty though so not to bad. Pictures from Saint Gaudens NHS, NH & Billings Farm, VT posted up. http://picasaweb.google.com/bryan.mcneely/National ParksTourII?authkey=Gv1sRgCLTxrdn89_vZVw# Leaving Boston today and heading for home. |

Home safe and sound. I actually got home late last night, just been resting up. Website has been updated with pictures of the JFK birthplace in Boston and the Weir Farm NHS site I visited in Connecticut on the way home. The JFK Birthplace NHS site is actually only about a mile from my sons house. I even walked there (don't tell IBA). http://picasaweb.google.com/bryan.mcneely/NationalParksTourII?authkey=Gv1sRgCLTxrdn89_vZVw# Trip log: Green is going. Yellow is the two-up trip I took with my son and Blue is the return trip.
So here's the fun facts.. Total miles - 2242.7 12 states (if you count DC) Max speed - 94mph moving average - 57mph overall average - 50mph riding time - 39hours Max elevation - 1415ft above sea level lowest elevation - 119ft below sea level. I'm still trying to figure out where I went that was 119ft below sea level. |
