Speaking of Buell sightings I saw a blue ulysses last week on the 302 bypass around Aiken. A couple months ago I saw it first on silver bluff riding 2up Last month I saw a black lighting on Park Ave in downtown Aiken. |

I saw something I haven't seen yet in Lexington. It was a ratbuell!!! Thumper at that. This thing sounded great and was a flat black, but I think it actually had the spray-on or roll on bed liner job done to all of the plastics. This thing definitely looked different. Wish I had a pic of that thing to show yall. |

"Mostly sunny, with a high near 96. Calm wind becoming west around 6 mph." Saturday in Cola, per NOAA. My prospects are dimming: XB lies in garage, dismantled and abused by its ham-fisted mechanic. I give-up: WILL rotate engine to R&R its intake seals... running out of time. Gary, "ain't stones grand", how you doin'? Will you make Sat's ride? Can I show up on the SV650 if I fail reassembly deadline? |

Ride what runs... I know an obnoxious ZX-10 will be joining us. Weather will be 95 and scattered T-storms, may get wet but not for too long. I'll be at the Huddle House at 9 to get some breakfast. Kickstands up at 10. Looking forward to the ride... |

Thanks Scott, I had lithotripsy two days ago and yesterday I thought the last pieces had past until I was getting ready for work this morning. I was on the floor crying. Couple of more chucks and it should be over. I light of that, I won't be able to make it Saturday. I've got to make sure they have completely past. |

Hey Matt you should come anyway. Take the "muffler" off and run it with just the headers. Its not like it did any muffling of the engine sound anyway!! Jds17, I will be there by 10, or thats my plan anyway. Gary, I hope all comes out well and completely without any more pain than what you have already experienced. GOOD LUCK with the process... |

Matt- you need to put a stock exhaust back on that thing and be done with it! I probably won't make it tomorrow- need to do a carburetor rebuild on a ~20 year old riding mower. |

I need to replace the clutch master cylinder and slave in my wifes vehicle tomorrow so I probably won't make it either, unless changing and bleeding it turns out to be an easy job which i'm betting it won't |

Nick- what kind of vehicle? I had to do the one on my Ford Ranger a few years back. Mofo of a job. Slave cylinder was concentric on the transmission input shaft. Had to drop transmission to replace it. Follow bleeding instructions with the parts explicitly and that part should go OK. DAMHIK. |

its an 02 ford escape with a 4 banger and manual tranny (of course). I've replaced the parts I'm just having trouble bleeding the system, I can get fluid to spit out of the bleed hole but I can't build any pressure, got any clue? and the auto parts stores are useless. |

So happy my ranger has an automatic now after reading that hugh. Does a tuber fit into a ranger bed? I plan on driving to suches this time. Oh, and no way man, i love this system, not much else sounds like it! (Message edited by guell on June 26, 2009) |

Nick- I just remember there was an instruction sheet in the box with the slave cylinder. I tried using normal bleeding techniques up to that point (fill master, crack bleed valve, push pedal to floor, close bleed valve, release pedal, repeat) and it didn't work. When I followed the instructions, I had it bled in ~10 minutes max. Unfortunately I don't remember what it said. Hopefully you can find some info on line that will help. Matt- yea, I hauled my S3 all the way back from Alabama when I bought it. I hauled my Honda Ascot (as long as a tuber) and a buddy's Honda RC51 up to Caesar's Head once. I'm actually on my 2nd Ranger. My first was a 1991 extended cab. I inherited a 2001 standard cab from my father-in-law a couple of years ago. I miss the big cab and the V-6 in my old truck though. |

Nick- I managed to find Autozone's on-line repair guide for that vehicle. Here's what it says about bleeding the clutch hydraulics: "Hydraulic System Bleeding The following procedure is recommended for bleeding the clutch hydraulic system installed on the vehicle. It is recommended that the original clutch tube, with quick-connect fitting be replaced when servicing the hydraulic system, because air can be trapped in the quick-connect fitting and prevent complete bleeding of the system. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section. Clean the dirt and grease from the dust cap. Remove the cap and diaphragm and fill the reservoir 3 / 4 of the way with approved brake fluid C6AZ-19542-AB or DOT 3 equivalent fluid (ESA-M6C25-A). Loosen the bleeder screw cover from the slave cylinder and attach a hose to the screw. Place the hose in a container and slowly pump the clutch pedal several times. With the clutch pedal depressed, loosen the bleeder screw to release the fluid and air. Remove the hose and tighten the bleeder screw. Repeat this procedure until all the air is removed from the hydraulic system." I think that's the trick- with the bleeder valve closed, you pump the pedal a bunch of times. Then with the pedal depressed, you crack the valve. Close the valve, let the pedal back up and repeat as required. |

Well I eventually got it. its the "repeat" part that gets me, its defiantly not like brakes, its going to take a long time. took about an hour to get it to the point where I can disengage the clutch and another hour this morning to get it fixed where all the air is out. and now my 3 year old is telling to get up off my butt and take her to the park on the motorcycle. |

Wish I had a Buell hydration pack. Could have used it. Most all of the ride went well. There was only 3 riders. Me, John, and Nelson. We had a good time. We left from Sumter and went all the way around Lake Wateree and back to Thunder Tower HD. The only mishap that we had was diving into a sharp corner that I am familiar with and having my back tire come out from under me. I thought I was a gonner. I had to jab a foot twice to get the bike back under me in the turn. Come to find out there was some nice HOT tar in the road that covered about a 1-1/2 inch strip on the outer edge of my rear tire that I slid on twice in one corner. Scared the living SH*T out of me. John got a real good look at it, and I got a real good feel of it. I dont want to do that again, but I feel I handled the situation really well. It was really hot though. I think the ride on the interstate going home from TTHD was hotter than the entire ride was. I had a good time anyway!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Darren- Sorry y'all didn't have a better turnout. Yea, nothing like HOT weather to help you find every bit of tar SCDOT has slapped on the roads in the last 20 years is there? You kept the rubber side down so you did good. I haven't used my hydration pack much, but I had it a couple of weeks ago when I rode up to Holden Beach, NC for vacation and I was glad of it. It makes a big difference being able to take a sip of water every few minutes. You can also dump some ice in it to give you cheap air conditioning and cool water while it lasts. |

I didn't have gumption to ride Saturday, but sure do appreciate the willingness to let me ride along on SV650. It's not as comfortable as my XB and my back was sharply aching when I woke Saturday AM: granddaughter in a backpack & a few miles walk to & fro McDonalds for breakfast Friday morning did me in. I did wrench on the XB: rotating engine for first time. Intake seals were simple then. And, I found a boogey-man in the exhaust port: http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/GbqefLDfGDk8- qNzNevTMQ?authkey=Gv1sRgCMKCy_GI0ZCIaQ&feat=direct link |

I ditto Darrens comments, fun ride and pretty darn hot. My rear end squirted out on the corner Darren nearly lost it, so I was monitoring my mirrors closely hoping not to see a disaster. I swear it looked like Darren was on a Bull and not a Buell, but he did a great job regaining control. I look forward to our next gathering. Later. |

Those wide a$$ low handle bars might have been his saving grace. More leverage to help rawhide that 'Bull'. He said that was tar on his sidewall. Wonder if he put a finger to it to take a whiff. He might have deposited something in the road after that corner and run through it with his own tire... If that was me, I would have left a trail of it. |

Hey Henry- welcome to Badweb. You just missed out on a group ride; a few Badwebbers met in Sumter last weekend and made a loop around Lake Wateree. Send a PM to Buellistic: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/boar d-profile.cgi?action=view_profile&profile=buellist ic-users and he'll add you to the SC Buell riders e-mai list. |

Welcome Henry. There are about 5 or 6 of us around the sumter, columbia area. Not sure when the next group ride may be but you are not far away so any ride would be good to go on. I am anticipating a bit more riding going on this fall when it starts to cool a bit and when my time starts to open a little more. Been working on the yard. I got to get some grass planted and try to keep the birds away so all my seed doesn't get eaten. Got a wonderful dirt yard and been busy with it this weekend. Keep watching here. We post rides from time to time. I need to try and get one started around Lake Murray like we had the time Kurt took us around it. That was a fun ride. I didnt know we had all those roads around the area. |
