Buell_nm, OK - the word is out... I was trying to keep a low profile... My riding has reached a proverbial wall. I'm hoping race school may take me past the wall. Besides it looks like fun. As for a race bike, I have a two-three options in the garage for conversion...the 1125R is one of them. I may just buy a used track-only bike. Who knows? One step at a time. I understand I can run the novice beginners class without the full prep. Ghostrider, Not sure who may have owned this M2 bike prior to the current owner. Any word on the schedule. The Colorado Buell folks sent their schedule and mentioned a Southwest Regional Buell Rally - based out of either Pagosa Springs or Durango, CO. I suppose this is in place of the Taos Rally? Nick, it should help and yes, you can race the open beginner without full prep. It would might be cheaper to buy an already prepped bike. Once you change out everything on one that you own, it would cost about the same. Depending on the changes that you make. Who's going to the Moto-Authority bike night tonight???? |

Bike night? Where? I apologize about the schedule. I too got the colorado club's schedule. I just haven't had a chance to sit down and put it together. |

Moto Authority is off from Eubank. Steve is doing one on the first weekend of every month. It was a lot of fun. |

I was at Moto Authority earlier that day... couldn't make it to the party. I have to put in a good word for Steve (the owner - used to be the parts guy at PJ's Triumph)... great to do business with... gave me a great deal on a new helmet and a set of Pirellis. I highly encourage anyone who needs general parts, accessories, and clothing to go to MOTO AUTHORITY. Small shop, personal service, great prices... Besides, HD dealers don't have much for sport bike riders... |

It was great! I had fun. I learned new things and improved my lap times. Troy is a good instructor. There were only four people in the class and three instructors so we essentially received personal instruction. Now I need A LOT of practice...at least now I have some basic skills at the track. Starting fast is harder than I expected - nothing like a street start; turn five is now easier; turn three and four are tricky especially in traffic. I need a lot of practice especially with traffic... Great weekend... well worth the cost. (Message edited by Buellnick on May 19, 2009) |

Any word on a ride schedule? ...or are we just lone wolves for the season? We are really limited this year if we account for track/race days and the Colorado connection... Conflict free weekends...here are some ideas: JUNE: (Low Road/High Road; Enchanted Loop) 6/7 27/28 JULY: N/A (too busy - CO rides look good) AUG: (Brazos Valley, Chama, Aztec, and vicinity; South to Black Range, Mimbres Valley; Ruidoso) 1/2 8/9 15/16 SEP: (Rally, Peak to Peak, South 14) 5/6 26/27 OCT: (Ruidoso; Black Range - Mimbres Valley, Silver City) 10/11/12 24/25 Just some thoughts... WYT??? |

I did over 1000mi this last weekend, w/friends and the wife. Anybody have any ideas or comments re: a ride schedule? I think ZIA Thunder is down to four of us posting here. Maybe we should change the name and start all over again. |

Well, Weekends are hard for me right now. Hopefully in a few weeks I'll have a new job lined up and will have most weekends off. Come up with something and I will try and make as many of them as I can. As far as changing the name it really doens't matter to me, I'm just kinda following for the most part. On a side note: my girlfriend's family from ohio was in town this week and I did some riding with them on wednesday. Lots of fun went up to the Villas Caldera and back to Bernalillo. They had only once or twice before ridden in the mountains and it was a nice treat. |

I just threw that "name change" idea out there... ZIA Thunder was the name we came up with when there was BRAG and SFHD/Buell was the sponsoring dealer. The name change idea is really a call for paradigm change. There are plenty of Buell Riders between Santa Fe and Albuquerque and they may be interested in some kind of club riding. I don't think many of them know about ZIA Thunder. SFHD doesn't promote it any more. Thunderbird definitely doesn't promote any kind of a club. Soooo... the idea to change names and start all over with a combined Santa Fe - ALbuquerque club is appealing. BTW: I understand about work and lack of time. At least you, CJ, and Kim are still posting on here. (Message edited by Buellnick on May 30, 2009) |

Well, months back there was a rider's meeting how many came to that? I know I missed it but I was working that day. Was it just the 3 of you or were there more of you? If it was more then were is everyone else? |

I wasn't at the meeting. I don't know who made it. It is kinda sad that I'm one of the few posting here still and I don't have the Buell anymore. |

If I remember correctly, Murrae once said, "trying to organize a group ride is similar to trying to herd cats". You guys have such perfect riding weather right now, you should be out burning the pavement, and enjoying yourselves! Kim, need me to come out and stir things up? LOL This pic was taken during Springfast2009, how many others can get this top speed out of their Uly's?

The meeting consisted of five people - all Buell riders... I was there. There was much discussion about deconflicting track days, race days, Colorado Buell rides, and the Taos Rally... There was also some discussion about doing a rally together with the Colorado Buell folks; base out of Pagosa Springs and play near the border roads on both sides (CO and NM). |

Hey Bart... there is NO way you did that with the Ulyglee. I've been out quite a bit and I have been having a good time. But, I'm always riding by myself.... not quite as much fun as chasing you guys around. So when are you heading out this way.. we need some trouble out here to wake everyone up. Most of the regulars around here are MIA, including the cat herder. |

Actually, I DID do that on the oogly, I just don't know how... It must have been a malfunction with the GPS, I swear I never went over 90 that day! Deb and I are going to colorado in June, and will probably be out your way the end of July for 4 days. That should be long enough for me to cause some trouble... |

I have been riding quite a bit on my own as well. I know the second cat herder is out of town till this coming sunday. |
