I'm looking forward to this one! Does anyone out there know of a reasonable place to get quality powder coating done? I want to by a motorcycle dolly and I found a great deal on one but it's bright "Cheesy-looking" red. It would look nice sitting under my Buell if it were gray metallic or black. |

"Got Control" met a couple at the breakfast buffet across from the mall in manassas. real talkative couple. i was talking about bikes, she rode SV and i was commenting on that.... they spoke of track days, R&R cycles team promotion ect... mentioned getting me on for track learning session type stuff.... got a pamphlet and two business cards.. get home open pamphlet, "Got Control?" is really about getting jesus in control of your life or some noise. they were both chaplains that gave me cards. im interested in track days but dont want to feel like a young couple at a time share event for religion. was hoping someone on here had some input as to how these guys operate. |

tony, something like that would be easy to do yourself. i could help you out. use engine paint and i can guarantee you'll be very happy with results. 200-300 grit to break the surface of the paint, wash very well, use alchohol to clean and then to a couple coats of engine paint. that stuff holds up to any thing. you wouldnt need a clear for that type of paint but it would be much more durable probably with about 5 coats of clear on it. i have the sanding and masking material you would just have to spend about 10$ on paint and clear... remember, im the guy who painted the wheels on my car.... LOLOL... |

Bryce, I might take you up on that. It would be easier if I had a sandblaster. I'd rather not hand sand the old finish. Harbor Freight is selling this for $67 in June. This will save me from doing the 20 point turn to get out of my basement. And keep the dirt off my new floors. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem. taf?Itemnumber=95896 |

Bryce... You should already know by now.. YOU WANT TRACK DAZE!! You got Track Day info.. Right Here!! So, what do you want to know? As for TPM (Team Pro-Motion) I ride with them a lot and they are very good folks. Actually, on the 9th/10th I'm supposed to be in South Carolina with them, doing two days on track at CMP .. As for the 'Got Control' thing.. uh, were they both brunettes? mid 30's, she a little round, both wearing glasses? Very gregarious? If so, then I know them as well, they are race chaplains for MARRC and REALLY nice folks (if it's who I think they are) Unlike Rev. Art, they don't race. RnR Cycles actually races the 'RnR Cycles, Repsol, Under The Black Hat dot net, Buell'. Last year they ran the MotoST - finished 6th in class. This year, we didn't have the money to go AMA and couldn't find anyone that would sponsor us. So they will run some CCS/ASRA endurance and possibly a few thunderbike races (but I think we're underpowered for this since the bike was set up for MotoST rules).. Yes, anyone with deep pockets that wants to sponsor an endurance race team, let me know.. Phew.. Ok, I'm posting this already.. it should be long enough..} |

PETER WTF have you BEEn!!!!???????? yes they were the MARRC chaplains. guy and girl tho. (what exactly is MARRC?) curious about the religious twist behind all this. and peter, im very familiar with R&R and your bike so no need to keep bragging!!! LOL. so whens the next Local track day? you do any maryland events? i come back to Va often and would love track days there too. ive been autoX the WRX recently, hard to decide on suspensio/brake mods on WRX or tires/legal lights on triumph.... need new front tire and head light to get here from Germany and the triumph will be totally legal again... except for paper work. and fianlly, PETER when are we gonna ride again?!! ive been on a few with Tony, where is every one else? |

tony, that thing actually wouldnt be so bad to rough up/hand sand the surface... my old 10 spoke wheels took forever and that one wouldnt take more than half hour completely taken apart. or just do like they do in the pic, loan it to peter or eric to put harley on and it will be black in no time from oil, LOL!!! |

I've been around.. Just kind of busy with .. well.. Life.. Ok, let's see.. where to start.. My NEXT track days are as follows... June 13 - New Jersy Motorsports Park (Lighting Circuit) June 22 - Virginia International Raceway (North Course) July 9-10 - Virgina International Raceway (North Course) w/Reg Primores' CLASS July 27 - Summit Point Raceway (main) And since they canceled an event for this coming weekend, I guess I'll have to sign up for another sometime soon. If you're feeling up to any of those, then by all means, go to TPMs' website and sign up.. I'd be happy to have anyone that wants too pitting with me. And yes, Team Pro-Motion has a pretty good track school. CLASS (at www.CLASSRIDES.com) is one of the nations best street riding schools. Yes, it costs a good bit, but you learn so much.. well.. it's (IMHO) worth every penny. As a matter of fact, in one day, you find your brain overwhelmed with all the great info they are imparting. Robin and I will both be attending that one for both days as you can see above. There are no road race tracks in MD or I'm sure I'd be doing dates there.. although rumor says someone is trying to build one.. Ok, on the MARRC chaplains: For a long time now, it's been kind of helpful to have chaplains on hand at the races. Of course, they say a prayer each day for the safety of the riders and hold a service on Sunday for those that are so inclined to attend, but they also give comfort during times of stress (the biggest one in recent years was when that 13yr old racer died during a race). They also try and keep a 'moral compass' for the riders and 'gently' enforce the ideas of staying 'straight' for racing. MARRC is the Mid Atlantic Road Racing Club, they sponsor and support all kinds of racing in the area. They are the source for some of the finest corner and safety workers availble in the mid atlantic and have a great rep for keeping folks safe while on track. They sponosor racer training and practice days and run a school that many local racers have graduated from. Now, about a local ride.. Hmmmmm.. yeah, I gotta put something together.. sometime soon I think.. I hope.. Hope that's a good enough update.. so far.. I'll keep ya posted here about more track dates, as soon as I know I'm going to them.. |

Saturday, 9 May I put together a little 132 mile ride from Ft Washington HD to 5 Guys in Edgewater. It's mostly back roads, Start at Ft.Washington HD, and work are way down to Prince Frederick, thru North Beach, on to Bowie and then end up at the 5 Guys in Edgewater. I've got a gas stop at around 90 miles. Kick stands up at 11am. As of today, there is only a 30% chance of rain for Saturday. Anybody up for a ride? Paul |

Pete I would love to do the 2 day Class with you and Robin but I have the Colorado trip coming up in August that's gonna make my wallet shrink. Pellis one day I'm gonna catch a ride with you all I got to teach an ERC May 9. I've never been to a 5 Guys before. Pete next year I want to go down south and take the Corner Spin school then looks like I'm headed for Milwaulkee for Rider's Edge 10 year party sometime in the summer. I could cross my fingers and hope for the Buell Home coming to be within the same time frame in 2010. K |

Does anyone in the area have a Uly with a Corbin? I'm trying to figure out if I can deal with the shorter seat to peg distance of the Corbin. |

Take your seat off, put down a piece of cardboard above the battery, fold a bath towel in 1/4, put it on the cardboard. Corbin. (disclaimer - I have a corbin on my S2. Comfy. Paper thin and hard as a rock, but comfy.) (Message edited by ratbuell on May 04, 2009) |

Team Pro-Motion (13th, 22nd and 27th) has a 'school' called ART (Advanced Rider Training) ALL new riders with them MUST attend the basic school prior to being let loose on a track with the rest of us. They have a pretty good rep and do teach you a thing or four, however they are a bit more biased towards racing and that's kind of where they go with a lot of their stuff. Don't get me wrong, Bill Sink and Co. (teachers of the ART) know what they are doing and are pretty dang good at it. But it's more about going fast and holding a race line and what not. CLASS with Pridmore is a LOT more money, but I have always felt, with his emphasis on street application and control drills (brakes, brakes, brakes - any idiot can whack a throttle open) makes his school the 'more bang for the bucks' kind of option. I've always felt a little more comfortable with CLASS since I know that as slow as I wanna go, is good for them. Also, if you wanna go fast, once you have a clue about what you're doing out there... His school has 4 AMA titles teaching (3 Superbike with Reggie, 1 BOTT with Stuart)and they are all capable of setting a blinding pace that 99% of the students couldn't follow if we tried. (and Reg will tell you he's slowed down now that he's old and fat). So, it really depends on where you want to invest your money. 2 days with Pridmore will run you $600 or so. That's about 3 days with TPM. But TPM is a 'track day club' first with schools as an option.. CLASS is a school, not a track date and you are there to learn from some masters. SICK THOUGHT ALERT Maybe we could put something together for next year? IF we could get enough CABO types interested and strike some sort of deal with CLASS? See if one of the friendly dealers would like to play as well? |

I have one on the old my old Suzi, if I didn't, I would probably have no idea how uncomfortable the stock saddle is. Saddle has been ordered, I'm just hoping it gets here before homecoming. Black snake leather FTW:

Well, let me know.. I'll keep posting the dates that I'm supposed to be at as I know them and if possible we can get it done. Hmmmmm... This weekend is looking a little better, I hope.. maybe? Is anyone else all atwitter about Buell Fest? I'm diggin' that it's in Frederick this year. We have to all gather somewhere at some point and make a pain out of ourselves.. or something (just to let Joe & Co. know we love them... ) |

I'm making it a point not to schedule anything for May 16th and 17th, since I have missed the last 3 or 4 Buellfests. If my MC safety Training center managers call they'll get my Voice mail! I'll most likely go both days. I'll keep checking to see what you all are going to do! K |

I think Buellfest should be the de facto event for us in the "CABO" world for the Spring - we need to connect a Frederick-area ride to it as a group. It sounds like this is the weekend that seems to work for many of us (and I know that the Fredneck area is a local motorcycle nirvana). This Sunday looks good too...anyone going anywhere good? I went out on the Hog tonight and felt ALIVE again! |

Today was a great day. I started with a demo on the 1125cr at H-D Buell of Baltimore. I spent Most of the afternoon, crashing crescent yacht club's opening weekend. I left there to go for a ride with my old man. It doesn't get any better for a saturday. |

Shiftredline I live in Rosedale, but I work at the MD air guard, just up the road from you. I really enjoyed the CR. it was quick and agile. I did feel like a pice of chicken, (being curled up.) I think it has a good chance of pulling some of the pocket rocket crowd to the Buell side.} |
