Oh, come on Bob. That picture is photoshopped and we all know it..... KTM's can't pull wheelies! Big Steve's is an exception though and seemed to run pretty good for our cold high desert trip last week!
Cheers! Ron |

OK since you asked. the Buell Re-Birth Project is proceeding very nicely. Motor is back together, rear-sets on. Gap the new plugs, new O2 sensor... New header fits so well, it actualy slipped right on (with no lube). Gona put the balancer on and take her off the rack. Then wheels off for new rotors, tires and bearings, and I think I'm done. The work has been so easy over at the WWBD Sacred Heart Benevolent Rat Bike Repair Association, I just can't say enough about the head guy, but every one deserves a second chance, right? The guys there are great, and I would highly recommend this shop! You may think I'm at work and nothing is going on... |

"but every one deserves a second chance, right?" Galen, this is not a second chance. This is Betty's ninth life. After this, you deserve a new one. I do long to see Betty one more time. |

I meant the head guy deserves a second chance. After the checker'd past he has you would be suprised what 'they' will let him do. The joke was that you would think I was gona say something good about him with the "can't say enough" part cause usually we say that meaning something good, but then imply that it was something bad with the 'second chance' comment( we usually only need a second chance when 'something' went wrong the first time around) My, that's rich... But alas it is true that Bettie has been a fickle mistress, lifting me to new hights, only to find that same hight then used to crush me the harder into the ground. -sigh- We're both looking forward to seeing you and your moto-cycle this Summer. |

Good to see everyone coming to happiness, riding-wise. Welcome back, Don and Lorraine. A heads-up to Galen. The wheel bearing on the left rear is a non-standard size and I've had to order mine through HD and it will take two weeks delivery. (That's for the Marcecinis on the S2. Yours may be different.) In my case, there's no hurry as my engine build is moving at a much slower pace than one supervised by Bob. The Sportster sits on the launch pad, fully fuelled, ready for favourable weather before blasting off. The Beemer has had the cob-webs blown off a couple of times. Unfortunately, it had the battery side-cover blown off also, today. Re-traced 20 miles of riding to look for it, without success. Good excuse to ride another 20 miles, though. What a fun little bike! Heading out tomorrow for the vintage bike swap meet and show-and-shine at Tsawwassen. Jim willl be showing off his CB550 cafe-racer and it will be the hit of the parking lot, without a doubt. Would win the show if he put it in but we're going riding, not showing! Oh yeah. Jaci and I have decided that the Beemer, which was bought to be a low-cost beater for Jaci and my daughter to learn on, is now held to be too lovable for that fate. So we are looking again for a $1000 learner bike. There are a couple of late'70 XL175 Hondas on Craigslist that I'm tending towards. Or a Yamaha 400 street bike. Or a CX 500 Honda. Or... |

Dang, I thought I was doing well with 5,500 miles since Jan 01, 2009... I can't hope to compete with 4,445 miles in one weekend! On a serious note, congratulations Galen on resurrecting Betty. Give me a call if you want to go riding some time... |

Debbie travels with an Our Boy Elroy jet pac, allowing her to accumulate miles at a highly accelerated rate. (jet pac not visable in photo) So we got Bettie to pop yesterday, but not run smooth. I put on a new throttle body during this repair phase, with a new TPS. I may have to take it to Harley for them to hook up to their compu-tater for calibration of said TPS. Or Bob and I may try it with his laptop and a connector from American Sport Bike. The site with the free software to do this talked a lot about exploding your motor if you don't know what your doing. And that would be a perfect description of me... I am working seven graves in a row, so I am kinda out of it during the day as I adjust to living in defience of all known natural laws. But as soon as I re-calibrate to Earth Time, the Work shall begin again. Paul, we will definatly putt around when I get her rollin' |

It's good to see Deb on the bike and Dink on guard. Galen, Maybe you should figure out a way to get Betty down into the spooky basement of the hospital and hook her up to the machine that channels lightning bolts and yell IT'S ALIVE!!! when the lightning strikes... Harv |

Here's the note I just sent to Desperation ------------------------------------------ Hi Ed, here is a follow up note. You should check on the tail of the tail light lens I ordered. Dave can tell ya. About the Buell pkg. for the bearings.... nope. Just a small envelope of bubble wrap. A new ignition switch for my Buell is $99. from you, and about $20 from American Sport Bike. They are a Buell suppoprt/parts house in Cali., run by Al Lighton. Al's a guy that carries the Buell flag high. I like Harley, so here is my advice. You have to work to provide the best price possible for the parts you sell. And the best parts possible. A James base gasket sure beats the hell out of the piece of paper Harley sells. To hell with the pkging. Go down to American Motorcycle just down the street by Pacific. Nick works there. They have every gasket you could need hanging on the wall. Right there. Don't have to order 'em. You probably have heard all this befor, but this is a new era of economic reality setting in, and changes will have to be made. I think chrome sales are going to dip sharply.Your store is probably too big, and needs to be a motorcycle store, not a Harley Gap. This is all written with a good heart, not to be a jerk. Good Luck -------------------------------------------- |

Bob, I blame you. You are very bad influence. Evidence is a new scoot in the stable:
Picked it up today. $5100 out the door. And thanks to the Prez, I can write off the sales tax! So, when we hitting some dirt? |

Anybody have a recommendation of an independent service shop able to work on my 1125R? It has less than 500 miles until the 24,800 mile service which is a major undertaking that includes checking the valve clearance and installing shims if required to bring them back into spec. The dealer I bought it from has admitted to me that I am their only 1125R customer and that their tech has NOT been to the factory training for this bike. Their work on my bike's clutch actuator has had to be redone and was found to have been done wrong. I don't want to pay them the quoted $1,000+ just to have them screw it up. I called another shop that I've had good experiences with, but they can't get me in until May 15th. I had planned a trip starting the 15th, so I'd like to get it done before then. Saving money would be good as well. |

Eric, Your going to be such a dirty dirty Boy! Dude, It's white! How cool is that? How do you like it so far? Planning a little weekend dualsport/fishing/beverage/laugh/scratch repeat several times ride soon. I'll post the date soon. Congrats!!! Paul, Wow thats to bad about the dealership situation. Thats kinda the reason a lot of us have drifted away from the Buell. Love the Bikes, hate the dealerships. Good luck. Bob |

This is just an idea for those that want to service their 1125r, It is a Rotax engine in a Buell chassis. Aprilia uses a 1000 version of the same motor, you could ask one of their dealers and/or get the service manual and go from there, just a thought. Don |

Ron, I hafta tell you something. Bob said I had to. Well you know I've been workin' alot in Bob's garage, right next to your BMW. I was spraying this gasket melting junk and kinda sorta got some on your new seat. The black one. It looks kinda cool now, like a Holsteen cow. That reminds me of the new Jack comerical..."herding cows the size of snousers, but there cattle" I really like that song, but I digress. So Ron, sheesh, I don't know what to say. I did get the rest of the bike cleaned up pretty good... you can hardly tell anything happened at all. I guess I could let you pass me anytime you want this summer... or you could push my bike over... |

"Pro" - meaning good or positive "crasti" - not sure but it rhymes nasty "nation" - meaning an organized body My deduced definition: A good body but a little on the nasty side even if organized. Alternate definition - B(o)(o)B Ron |

All I am saying Jim is that a 1125r owner will probably have better luck with someone experienced with dual overhead cams and liquid cooling, hell the Buell shops don't even do a good job on my S3. |

Just kidding Ron... the rest of the bike didn't really clean up that well... Cap! I think SPLASH is the long wkend of 7-24, 25, 26, ending on Monday, 7-27. It'll be great to get together. Paul, Bettie is still waiting to hit the road, looks like mabey this weekend or early next week. Just got the dealio to talk with the ECM today Only gona set the TPS, no fuel maps. Does it really cost a freakin' GRAND for your next service... holy crap... Have you talked to Downtown Harley. They seemed to take Buell more seriously than Desperation. They had Eric there a couple years ago... |
