Hey mobbers... You will never guess who I met today! Give up? Eric Buell He had a early prototype of what evolved into the XB series from back in 1978. And you are never going to believe this... he sold it to me because I was such a devoted Buell fan. It took most of my son's college fund (hey who needs college... I never graduated to college. Wait... that might be a bad example!) It will take a little restoration... but I have the first prototype. It is an XB.7CT Here is a photo!!! I now have a project until the weather get better! |

Thats the mini bike that I always wanted!! They are to mini bikes what the Apple Krate was to bicycles! They had some cool mini bikes in the 70's. |

Hey... me too! And it only took me 38 years to get one. My mom told me to save my allowance... and she was right... it worked! Now all I have to do is convert it to a money pit to get it restored! (to a rider not a OEM rebuild) What can go wrong??? I am building my pit bike before I start my drag bike project. All I need is a complete X1 rolling chassis and a good strong carburetored engine for that project. If it took me 38 years to get the pit bike... how long will it take to save my allowance for the drag bike??? |

Hey Dave, How about I make a trip up to your Chili Cook off and trailer my bike. Then we can talk turkey and trade my S1 straight across for that 12S on your showroom floor collecting dust! O.K. maybe a few dollars diff.

Well... It is a little less than mint... but 99% of it is there and there is really no rust. Needs a carb, license bracket w/tail light turn signals, seat recovered and spark plug shield... and new tires would be nice. I have been looking on ebay for a couple of years. The price was too much or the shipping was going to be as much as the bike... this one was in Carthage, MO. I drove down yesterday and picked it up. Ordered a carb and will try and get it running this afternoon with the old carb. Has good spark and fuel to the point of flooding. I am considering a professional engine/tranny rebuild this summer. I want it to be a rider... so I may get creative on how I fix/replace stuff... it should keep me busy through the bad weather... and maybe send the engine off this spring to have it back by fall. I am going to have it powder coated yellow body work with black wheels and fenders I hate chrome! That is the idea so far... I am also looking into a second engine for me to rebuild as a "big bore" with a manual tranny... too early to say! |

Dennis, You must have chrome! It's essential to the operation of the core heart of all evil!! Not to mention it wards off all good spirits to want their own!} Listen to the Voice------listen to the voice. |

Well... My thought was... frame/body yellow swingarm black wheels black fenders black handle bars maybe left chrome engine guard/skid plate black engine as stock finish if I can find good for fair price - headlight ring and license plate mount chrome I am still thinking about graphics/decals powder coating all parts... no paint I'll put a bell on it to take care of evil spirits |

"10 more posts and that naked picture Richie took of himself in front of the mirror will be gone!!!!!!hehe"...Riiight, he wishes he looked like that!... Dennis...I once read an interview with Erik (the one with the "k" in his name and he was talking about how the "Mini Trail" was one of his fav moto designs as a engineer...Thought that Mr Honda had nailed it...And about that "k" thing, the first SLAB newsletter I published I sent to a guy named "Eric Buell"...Was that embarrassing, or what?... We're changing from a motorcycle club to an ice skating club over here...We had an ice skating party Friday evening and 28 sat for dinner afterward...Biggest "ride" we've ever had!... Stay warm guys, Bob |
