High Cntry H-D/Buell has been shopping for a convenient, exciting local track that we could rent for a day to provide an exciting high quality track day experience. The few Colorado tracks that meet our requirements are pretty full and have not been supportive to our efforts, at least not economically. Details do not matter but suffice it to say there is a magnitude of difference between us.

But all is not lost. We do have an option.

Ricky Orlando raced at this years Daytona 200, finished behind all 6 Buells by the way. He used to race against Erik Buell back in the day. He just firmed up his next track day for us, 04May in Byers, the new High Plains Raceway. He says the track is fast, has a rise followed by a tight turn that will pucker your back side. Even a pro racer like Ricky knowing the track says going into the rise you brake hard and you are still surprised at the turn and you feel your heart rise into your chest.

If you are interested, contact Ricky, 303.666.6061 www.RickyOrlando.com

The course day is $375 unless you have been track MSF/MRF certified, then it is only $225. Buell Back to Track days do qualify you. The higher cost is because you need class instruction before you can participate.

If you doubt the intensity of this track, http://www.highplainsraceway.com/ gives details.

In looking at the HPR schedule there are several open lap days for motorcycles only and it only costs $150/160 for a full day or $90/100 for a half day. They are mostly on either a Mon or Fri.

Dan and I will probably go a couple of times this year as I would like to get at least 3 days on the track this year.

We could always just have a get together with a bunch of Buells on one of those days!!!!!?????

High Plains Raceway:
If we can get half a dozen folks interested in doing this, half or full day some weekday in May or June, High Cntry (Bones & ~jammer) would be glad to bring our trailer, refreshments and snacks, and a couple, three bikes for demo riding (1125R & CR, an XB). We'd probably get one or two of our racers to attend also. If we pick the right day, Zach would probably join us too.

What do you think?

Dan and I would definitely be interested. However, the open track days for MC in May is the 18th, none in June, July 6 & 24, August 3, 7, 17, and 28th.

If you need any help putting the word out let me know. I think this would be great and I would LOVE to take an 1125CR on the track.

Jammer, this is great news. I never done a track day but would like to see my friends tear up the track.

Once you have the details I will send it out to the Colorado Thunder Club (the Denver group). I was riding with a couple of those guys today and think they would love to get on a track.

Seems several requirements may be restrictive for average riders. How many do we think might attend such an event?

I know if we don't get in front of this now, the riding season will speed up time as it always does and dates will be upon us.

Dave, I think the hardest part for most folks that don't do track is the leathers. If there is anyway people that don't have leathers can borrow them, I think that would help get more people out.

Other than that, if someone has never been on a track they would have to go out with someone from HPR first.

I think if you got the word out for a specific date and spread the news, several folks would come out. I would even be willing to lend out my leathers, they are size 8.

Also there is an email list of lots of Buellers (and others) that this could be sent to. Let me know.
