V2win... I was half expecting... lunatic = Dennis LOL :-) court system = big league Let me explain that... we get a ton of people who have gone through the state system and Jackson County... where in one they hand out 120 day call back... which is 120 days in custody... then what can VERY loosely be called supervision, that seems to be almost impossible to get revoked and actually do any real time. And Jackson County hands out STIFF probation periods... and often does early release from custody to relieve over crowding. With both being VERY liberal with being released on bond... with numerous violations and warnings before any chance of having bond revoked. I often tell new "clientele", who think federal court is the same joke... think that they will get bond... and think a slap on the hand sentence, they have hit the big league... as we don't play in the federal system. At first they think I am screwing with them and I am full of shit (and I may be full of shit on other topics... but not this one). At some point after their bond hearing end up with detention... and they find out they are looking at time for "small stuff" from about 3 to 5 years doing a minimum of 85% of the time to repeat offenders looking at time from 100 to 200+ months... to life sentences ... real life sentences... for career offenders. Then after the time... they typically get 3 to 5 years supervision... which I often tell "clients" who get little 3 year or so sentences... that the hardest time to do is the supervised release... as they are on you heavy... and if you are violated ON THE LAST day of your 3 year super release... the judge can and often will sentence the "client" to 3 years inside, with no credit for the supervised time they successfully completed. While on bond... for those few that get bond... one screwup and they are taken into custody for the remainder of their trial process. I have so many times told a "client" to walk the straight an narrow if they get bond... as if they screw up once they will be back in custody... with many of them laughing... and telling me they know how the system works... don't worry... to see most of those back in custody within 2 weeks... and in for good. Probation is so rare... I can only remember a few. In almost 20 years... I have seen less than 25 walkout with a not guilty verdict... and more people who fail on supervised release than you can imagine. I have seen some do what is called "life on the installment plan" that come in with one charge and be in and out several times where they violate... do time for that... get put back on supervision for the original case again... violate and go back in. The Jamacians used to call the federal system a black hole... cause people went in and were never seen on the streets again! Those that get bond... I like to see stay out on bond... as we have way too much in custody business for our staffing, and those that are out on supervision I like to see successfully complete that supervision for the same reason. AND that is why I often warn those who go out on bond to not screw up and those out on paper much the same thing. It is tough in both cased... and I respect the determination for those that are able to stay out on bond through the process... and for those that complete their supervision... I HATE REPEAT BUSINESS! We have enough to do without having people come back a second time! The agency goal is to eventually staff to the 70% level of our needed staffing... and we ain't close yet! Some days we just don't have enough DUSM to cover it all and we have to hire off duty cops and/or cancel leave. and believe it or not... this is the short explanation!!!! and I think it was needed so someone would not think it was an ego trip for me... thinking I am big league or something... in the big scheme of things... I am the waterboy. I do my job... go home... and try to leave work focus at work... and focus on my family and health off the job. It is my job... not my whole life. If it was... I would be writing all you bastards up for speeding and reckless driving! and NO ONE would want me on a group ride for that reason!!! :-) Of course there may be other valid reasons... but that is a different subject! Trust me... if we ever got hooked and written up... I'd be in much more trouble than you all... cause I get hooked by the local that hates feds... and I WILL be in my bosses office explaining my behavior unbecoming! But I am all growd up... and accept what I get myself into... it is just too much fun! |

Sam, What the hell is going on with your engine. Did you ever figure out what was causing the glowing pipes? Did that issue have anything to do with the new failure? Richie, Too much of anything is will get old after a while. Just ask some of your buds with fat girlfriends. Sex....Whats that? |

John, the glow went away with new plugs and a semi-short trip (reset the ecm?) The new problem I have not Identified as yet, still a little pissed to be gentle with parts I am removing, I will wait a few days. I did however pull the primary cover that night and it is not the transmission seized.... I'll keep you all updated. I still can't get over richie's paint job! Awesome.

Sam,I also thought of youre glowing pipes?Possibly caused the rings in that cylinder to be tweaked up and seize up? The swingarm on my bike is being powder coatedBLACK. The rest of the body part will be the original MOLTEN ORANGE.We put some of my plastic against the orange powder coating we did,and its going to look great together! We will hopefully have it back together possibly by next weekend. |

Sam, The year was 1972. A friend of mine had just picked up his new Sportster. We were breaking it in with a short ride. As I looked over at his bike, the rear pipe was glowing red all the way back to the muffler. I had a spare set of plugs with me on my bike. We changed the plugs, checked out the fuel and ignition situation. All was ok. So we started it up and rode back to the dealership. They could not find anything wrong. Put a new rear pipe on and away we rode. I think something blocked the fuel supply and caused a lean condition. We will never know. |

Das.....speed = $$$$$$ We have an old saying in the industry I was in for many years. "Speed cost money, how fast do you want to go?" Its so very true. And of course for those of us who want it, no matter how fast you go, you always want just a little more. Subject..... women |
