Jacket and gloves rock. Ask Tony - he bought a set at IMS, wonder if he's used 'em yet... |

Joe, I wish I could tell you I've broken in the heated gear. I was planning on testing them out on Monday which was the "warmer" (yeah right) of the 3 day weekend, but it snowed. The rest of this week is looking good for a dry run. I did wire in the harness and found a nice place to mount the dual thermostat control. It clipped nicely into the mesh pocket on my airbox bra. What do you wear for to keep you feet toasty. I don't think my riding boots and a thick pair of socks is going to cut it for more than an hour. |

Tony, you have to go to Bob's BMW for some good socks and riding boots. I have the REV-IT socks and boots. Boots are supposed to be waterproof, I haven't rode in the rain with them yet. The socks are $40.00 bucks but they are sooooo worth it. They also have Olympia overpants you can check out. K |

I wear HD/Wolverine work boots, or regular safety-toe (non-metal) work boots. They're gore-tex and thinsulate. They usually keep me in pretty good shape for a couple hours (with my new, spiffy tube socks made for diabetics because of all the swelling in my left leg). I've been thinking about getting "riding" boots, but hesitate mainly because of the cold, and because when I ride to work, I walk all damn day and every pair I've seen reminds me of ski boots. Great for skiing, clump-clump in the clubhouse. |

I bought a pair of Joe Rocket Sonics. very comfortable, even for walking, but the riding position on the Uly put additional stress on the boots at the ankles and they both cracked. I guess they weren't made for Uly riding. Joe Rocket did send me another pair under warranty, but I haven't worn them yet. |

Het Rat, the REV-IT boots with regular sock keep my feet warm in 30 degree weather riding down 95 to work for my 25 minute commute before them I had Tourmaster road solution boots annd them things were the best, I wore the soles out. Both are touring boots both waterproof. For the longer out of state rides I have cortech hi boots with the zip on the side they are touring boots as well. You can't beat any of them for comfort. The socks make it even better. I'm waiting for Harley to make some real touring boots. K |

Steve, still looking for a new career and surviving off the government cheese. I was hoping with the new administration sworn in at 12 noon yesterday that I would have had a new job by 1pm, but that didn't pan out. |

K - the Rev'it boots look pretty cool. My only concern, at this time of year, is my lankiness. My fieldsheer insulated pants tend to pull up off my ankles when I'm riding - not too much, but enough that I can feel a wind-leak at the top of my boots. I tried a larger size pant at the show, but all they did was balloon sideways more, not much help in length (I wear a 34/34 pant). The Rev'it boots look like (and are) a mid-rise. They'd be great when I don't need to worry about air leaks, though - I'm gonna check them out, definitely. |

hi Marlinrider, I bought Joe rockets too after owning Alpinestar. they craked once and they send me a new pair only after 2 monhs of wearing, i have noticed the new ones they sent are going to happend the same. the guy told me it was a bad bacth of the manufacture, but i believe is the design of the boots. I hate calling back beciase it will cost me shipping again. I have to say i deserve it for not sticking to a bran i knew it works for what you pay. Alpinestars |

I figured that these would crack too, so I am saving them for a long ride in the summer. Maybe warmer temps will make them a bit more flexible. |

Just dropped some cash on a pair of boots: Frank Thomas. Seem ok. Took em out today and was pretty pleased with them. Have to wait for it to get really cold before I issue the final verdict though. Shouldn't have to wait long...

Felix, I know more Baltimore County officers than MD state troopers, but I didn't hear many, if any, bad things, when they hung out at the Buell/HD dealership where I used to work. |

Joe, Yep, made it back in one piece. There was a nasty 3 car crash on 70w near the truck weigh station. Looked like at least 1 fatality. Of course the east bound lane was backed up with all the rubber necking, but I was warm getting through it. I found the glove liners didn't keep my fingers as toasty as I would have liked. Probably because my over glove was stripped down to just the outer wind barrier (insulated liners were out to make room for the Gerbings). Also, I don't run hand guards so it was full on 80mph directly to the gloves. Thumbs were good. I'm so glad risked the trip out to HDoF with a nearly dead battery. I bought that battery 5 months ago. If would have waited a few more weeks I wouldn't have gotten a full credit. Thanks to the Gerbings heated gear too. Without it I wouldn't have ridden til March or April. One thing to note though. I noticed my fan came on as I was getting off 70 in Ellicott City. It was freak'n 35 degrees out! Think it might be a bad sensor? |

Hey guys, Ulywife, aka Kristi, contacted me and she wants to clean up some threads we don't use anymore. So if you have anything you want to save to your computers like pictures and stuff or if you want us to pass something over please post here or send me a PM. I'm thinking treads like "last call for Total control" and "head count for lunch" both of them where time specific, and past gone into history. Felix, My mc safety job took me over to the eastern shore in Maryland if you want a SP job that's the place to do it, some of them teach MC safety, both uniform and undercover and the eastern shore is a nice place to live. Next summer if you do plan on coming down here we can ride to the training center and I can introduce you to some SP/mc instructors, they've been teaching and policing for 20 years or more! K RAT!!! I sold my jeep it went out of my garage yesterday, I had a tear in my eye K |

K - congrats/condolences on selling the Jeep, that thing was cool...but I understand unfinished projects (like the '72 Satellite I've had since '91 and still isn't finished). Tony - awesome, glad you like the gear. My Uly's fan comes on after a run on the highway, too - anything over 30 degrees. I'm wondering if there isn't a line in the code about "X minutes at X rpm and/or X mph" turns it on. Seems silly to me at the time as well, but it is what it is...lol. I'm also glad we could get you in and squared away so quickly And, if anyone's bored, they've got me working at the other location today. It's gonna be a judgement call whether the admins let this stay, but here goes (it's our other store, and we're a sponsor...). It's the Hagerstown store, www.hdwilliamsport.com. Somebody come out and keep me entertained, lol. It's right near the 70/81 interchange in Hagerstown. (Message edited by ratbuell on January 25, 2009) |

All threads will stay here on your storm fronts, just put in a "dated threads" or archive. Nothing will be deleted, just bundled. I can also set up folders like we have on C3 and HRH. This is your storm fronts, it's your decision on how we re-organize it. Talk to you tonight Kathy! kls |

Felix, I would just get on line and find hotels near Pikesville we have plenty of the standard hotels motels in Md. Its a busy place all around the beltway. Sooner than agreeable riding weather what I can do is hook you up with the TCM of the mc safety program on the eastern shore, thru him you can meet some of the troopers who live and work on the eastern shore. Over on that side of the bay bridge its totally police friendly and the public respects the police more, on my side of the bridge is less respect and support. I'm in the Baltimore, Washington metro area, aka rat race! Western Md has got to be nice too and most western counties, just like the eastern shore SPD is the main force. And my best friend, riding buddy is a US capital police she has been on the force for over 23 years guarding the US Capital. She is a federal officer. K |

I'll be there on the 6th too. Saturday is jammed packed all the way out to route 83. If you go on Saturday go early before the doors open. Otherwise expect to wait in traffic and crowds. The show is HUGE. If you're going to stick around for the show and go on Friday let us know. K ps Buells will be represented by HD of Baltimore, JP, my Buell tech will probably be there, he drags the Cyclone and V-rod. |

Grrr...makes me wish I wasn't working that weekend....although, the dealer show was cool. Got our dates for the demo fleet, mid-May this year (dates on my desk at work), saw the demo ride giveaways (very cool stuff - come demo!!!), saw some faces from Homecoming...and the new Buell riding gear is nice. The JR suit is cool, nicely done, the casual fleece hoodie pullover is sweet, and I really like the mesh armor jacket. Might have to get one of those, seeing as how my old one was unceremoniously cut off of me roadside in July, lol. Stuff should hit stores pretty soon, but afaik it's all online now. Oh, the new helmet is sweet too - VERY lightweight. |

The more work I can scare up, the better chance I have of sticking around, sounds like a great show. Went to the IMS show in NYC, wasn't impressed but at least I got the free t-shirt.Hopefully I'll run into some of you fellow badwebbers there! |
