AFAIK, the Buell suspension didn't change between 03 and 05, so you should be fine. Your owner's manual has suspension guidelines in it too. Though I have to say there's no substitute for having a professional set the bike up not just for your weight but for your riding style. Your body position on the bike makes a difference.
I had my GSX-R setup by a local shop in town, and it turned out to be all wrong for me. I rode it all last year thinking I had a problem with my technique, and it turned out to have been the suspension all along. Once I got it fixed, it felt like a completely different bike. It made a HUGE difference.
Here's me shooting video for a cool guy on a RC51 that I met Saturday. I stuck with him for a while until we got separated in traffic. After that, I followed another guy on a CBR for a couple more laps until he surprised me by braking into 3. I backed off then and pitted in to give him some distance.

Ok, cool. I thought they might be the same, but wasn't sure.
My plan is to set the bike up using the measurements, that way the suspension will be set up for my weight/distribution. We have a WERA racer who has learned a lot about suspension setup, and is assisting us with setups.}
Yeah, I don't want to be That Guy. Having been on the receiving end of a bad pass just recently, I really don't want to be the cause of an accident.
Having 30 minute sessions makes for some laid back riding, too. You don't have to feel like you're wasting time stuck behind someone. You can pit out and pit back in as many times as you need in order to let slower riders get out of the way, and you still get all the track time you could want.
BTW Matt that's a great pic of you, starting to look like a pro so keep up the good work.
Charlie, It's dads & kids night again at the Buffington house. Shelley's working tonight since she had school today. Thats 3 nights in a row, I'm whooped but been having fun too.
Anyway we're having a breakfast dinner tonight so come on over and bring Hayden!
eggs french toast bacon bis'& gravy and some fruit
Serving at 6:30 ish... call for RSVP, lol!
Ratyson, Kevin Drummer knows a lot about Buell susp' set-up, the tech or racing boards would be a good place to ask.
BTW, Kevin has done a lot of work over the last few years with Buell Susp' set-up. I've also learned a things while riding on the roads and doing track days but not a pro by any means. If I can help let me know but Kevin is the person I'd call. He's a cool cat.
Thanks for the Tip Mike. I'll check with Kevin... cause... I might be doing my first track day in May!!! If all the stars align themselves, I may be able to the the STT Tally track day in May! WOOT!!
The guys that I know are: Chris Halbrooks (He didn't race last year due to injuries) He did successfully light his bike on fire in turn 3 at Road Atlanta a few years ago. Ronnie Gallagos (he was severly injured about 3 years ago and has not raced since) There is one guy that I rode with once a long time ago who rides in AMA, but I don't recall his name. Well, I didn't really ride "with" him.. but I did leave the starting location at the same time that he did... LOL.
Russell, Hope you get that track day, STT runs a good program. Don't know Chris personally but seems like he rode an R6. I've seen so many R6's on fire at the races, they look the same.
Sanchez, I remember the Hot Pocket days. Chicken w/ broc-cheese was my favorite with a ice cold PBR to wash it down.
Yes, he did ride an R6. He is actually trying to sell it right now. It is back to street legal status. He is looking to get something more fit for long distance/mountain riding.
So did everyone have a good holiday? How's everyone's health? Life has been pretty crazy here lately, with work/race car/and general BS... But my health is good so I have no complaints... I hope each of you are well also! I miss the mountains and seeing you guys at TWO on the weekends... Hopefully I can find some time to come visit one weekend... Speaking of, whats the date of March Badness?
Smoke, next lemons race is Feb 28th and March 1st. NASA is in Houston next weekend.(Jan 31st/Feb 1st) I should hopefully be starting from the back in the Camero Mustang Challenge rookie pack...
I'm a bit nervous about it all, but if I can ride 180 with you crazy &*^@%!s on motorcycles, I should be alright on track in a caged car...
Dirty, Nice video, and the bike reminds me of my first F2 after a few wreaks and loosing some fenders in the wind... Looks like you're a lot faster than when I met ya...
good to hear from you Jeremy. MB end of march. taking the wife to FL 28 feb and winding up at the 200. what track is NASA at Houston? might take a ride. Good Luck!! tim
> If all goes well I will be passing Sanchez's place every morning.
Sweet. Found a place over on PIB? Did you get your Uly running again?
I drove all the way to freaking SMHD yesterday to pick up a part only to find out they're closed on Sundays now.
Travis, it's a small world. I went out on a date over the weekend with a girl from Athens. We got to talking about movies, and she mentioned she'd been an extra in a zombie flick. Guess which one? If you went to the screening party, you probably saw her.
Been all right. Trying to stay a float in the chaos called life.
Bike has been neglected for a few months. Overdue maintenance + running bad + inclement weather = four wheels. I got a call from a guy in NC the other day that may help. More info soon.
Crazy eh Sanchez... I missed the party so I assume I missed her too. How did the date go?
