Joe, I was in the Frederick area 2 weeks ago finishing up some Christmas shopping and stopped by HDoF looking for you. It will be good to see your smiling face back in the showroom. I'm sure they'll be glad to get their Buell guy back in time for spring. No more close calls now... OK? |

No worries, Tony...last summer was my free pass, I'm done. Just had to try it once, to see what it was like lol. That which does not kill me, makes me fun at airport security I'm pretty proud of myself, though - not only healing and thrilling the docs and therapists, but riding as well. And, even in this crappy weather with the constant "take it easy" voice in the back of my head...I'm down to about a 3/4" chicken strip on the back of the Uly (the tubers stay inside during salt season). *Maybe* I've still "got it", lol. Erik - sorry to hear, man. It was touch-n-go for me there for a while, too. Tough times, especially in a "toy" industry like ours...if I hear of anything, I'll pass it on. |

Hey y'all...I'm just finding this forum (I'm usually hanging out on the Big Bad and Dirty page), thinking that there wasn't an active Mid-Atlantic-area Buell group. Keep me informed of any meetups. I think I'll try to get to the Dulles show tomorrow (I work in Reston, BTW), and I am long overdue for a ride to Frederick H-D/B to meet ol' Ratbuell. |

Well, 'ol Ratbuell' is finally back at work (this is day #2), so come on by! My days off are Wed/Thu. Trying to put a meet together for the region. We had a few folks give it a shot last season, but the season sorta slowed down a bit, then I had my get-off in July...but I'd love to put something back together. We're more than willing to host here, too...just need to find out what folks want and when we can all get together! |

We will meet next Saturday at the DC IMS at the Buell booth at around 12 o'clock P.M. to give everyone some time to get there. Hope to see you all there! |

Anyone have info on the show midnightrider posted about that's in Dulles this weekend? I may try to get there on Sunday. I'm looking for gear vendors I can check out (newbie- I need everything but the helmet) and get info on beginner bikes like the Blast and some info on riding for women for my wife. Not interested in choppers, customizing, bikini contests, tattoos, made-in-china junk scooters, etc. |

What is available for bike parking outside the convention center? Trying to figure out if I want to ride in, or take the metro in. |

There usually is a fair amount of bike riders @ the IMS depending on the weather, this Saturday will be a little chilly, but ride-able weather provided it doesn't snow/sleet too much. If you want to find parking, get there early. We're taking the metro in. It's just more convenient. They usually have decent deals on gear @ IMS. I picked up my Forcefield back protector there last year for a decent price after looking for I don't know how long around here (hint, hint Joe). I'm definitely looking forward to seeing everyone again. Anyone interested in grabbing a bite @ Fuddrucker's after IMS? They have great buffalo burgers. -RAS |

They usually have decent deals on gear @ IMS. I guess that means I will have to throw the bags back on. |

The neighborhood streets around the Convention Center have good spaces for bikes to park (end of rows, between cars, etc.), and the area is much nicer/safer than it used to be. I've never had a problem. That said, the last couple times I've been it's been cold. I was one of the only people walking around the hall in riding gear (sweating my butt off). Pretty sure I'll be there! |

I'm pretty sure I will be taking the bags, if for nothing else but to put the helmet and suit in while I'm inside. There is nothing quite like walking around in a hi-vis yellow suit to say, "I'm trying too hard" or "Why yes, I do ride a Beamer." (OTOH, aren't they one and the same.) |

I agree, last year most of the sidewalks were "appropriated" as bike parking. Rotor lock worked fine for me, my S2 was right where I left it LOL. Looks like I'll be in the booth on Fri and Sat, so be sure to stop by and say 'hi'! I'll be the tall lanky guy gimping around like "House, MD", lol. |

I'll be there Saturday, all day probably. might ride the Vrod as the Buell is just an engine siting on a lift right now. If you buy the tickets online and type HDofDC in the promo code you can get the tickets for $8. See you there. (Message edited by José_quiñones on January 07, 2009) |

Thought I was going to wiggle out of at least one day of Guard duty this month but alas this will not be the case. If I forget PLEASE REMIND ME next year the Chantilly Show - Mid-Atlantic thing held one week before the IMS at Dulles in January is an absolute bust!! As soon as I walked in this year I remembered - but I had already paid. My 22 year old daughter wants to go to the IMS - determined that the wants to buy a Ducati!. Maybe not a great choice for a first bike but my first bike was a Lightning so who knows? |

determined that the wants to buy a Ducati!. Maybe not a great choice for a first bike but my first bike was a Lightning so who knows? Have her price out replacement body panels, so after she has that first inevitable drop, she knows what she is in for. And after that, take a gander at the service schedule and prices. I can't understand why no one wants to look at the good beginner bikes like the Blast and the Ninja 250. Cheap to insure, cheap to buy, cheap to fix. Pick up one used ride it for a few months, then proceed to sell it for the initial purchase price. |
