Hotels fill up quickly for those that want to go I suggest reserving a Hotel room in advance. You can always cancel the room for full refund 48 hours prior if need be.

The other option is to camp out. But it gets pretty cold at night. Last year there were a lot of guys camping.

I am thinking of riding down on Friday and then coming back on Sunday.

I regretfully have to pull out of this event. My wife was not able to choose her vacation time at work because of others having seniority. So her given vacation ends up starting same time this event is going on. I will instead have to plan or family vacation. No biggie. It's to Vegas so I will most likely ride the V-rod down giving the kids more room in the SUV since they are bringing a friend.

I havn't got to meet any of you yet but, if all goes as planned, my wife, 1 or 2 friends of mine and I were thinking about riding out there together as well. Have you made the trek before? It seems like a real but breaker. 5 1/2 hrs would justify a couple stops, ... ya?

Yes, definitely more than one stop. It's an all day ride I think. I have not done it before, but it would be great to ride out in a group. If you are planning to go, you should look into hotels now. they fill up pretty fast I hear.

Oh it takes a lot longer then 5 1/2 hours unless you plan on slabbing it down I-84.

There are tons of great roads on the way out. Last summer me and my wife went. Took 11 hours with gas, food and rest stops. If I had done this without my wife I could probably have done this in about 8 hours. taking the back roads its close to 400 miles of nice roads (no I84).

My plans keep on changing and now I might be going again or at least to Fossil. I canceled my Hotel so now I am not sure what to do.

I will give you a call when I get into Baker City.

I found another group of riders that will be riding on Friday that I will tag along with to avoid riding solo through high desert country. They have done the trip four years in a row now and really seem to know the really twisty routes avoiding as much straights as possible. Should be fun.
