Darren- I actually got a pretty cool long-sleeve Buell T from Thundertower ~3 months ago. At that time, they had about 5 Buell T-shirts buried in the middle of a rack of Harley stuff near the back of the store. At least the sales clerk pointed us in the right direction. +1 to good service from American Sport Bike. I ordered some Lyndall front brake pads from them this week. |

Hmmmm. Maybe I need to go by sometime to check and see if they have any more shirts. It would be really nice. Were they some of the newer ones, and not the old ones that have been there since they opened? |

The one I've got is white body with blue sleeves, Pegasus on the arms IIRC, Buell on front and "Thundertower" on back. It may have been there since they opened. I can't figure Thundertower; I used to stop by about twice a month when I'd visit my sister in Camden. When they first opened- no Buell gear. 3 months later, new Buell display added with about 5 different Buell shirts, maybe caps and a few odds and ends. 2 months later- Buell display gone, t-shirts hidden amongst the Harley stuff. |

I hope the rest of you got some riding in today. The clouds hung around yesterday about ~5 hours longer than the weatherman predicted so I did some maintenance work on my bikes. I finally got around to bolting down my Harbor Freight tire changer so I could change the rear tire on my Uly. It works pretty well for dismounting a tire but seemed pretty useless for mounting. I ended up using tire irons; the tire changer was useful for holding the rim in place at least. Of course the wheel slipped several times during the process and ended up gouging the crap out of the powdercoat (even though I had several layers of duct tape wrapped around the "shoes" that are supposed to hold the wheel). I had some touchup paint so I fixed the scratches while the wheel was off. I was happy to find that my Koyo replacement bearings seem to be holding up well at ~6500 miles; no signs of roughness at all. Oh yea, this was the first rear tire I've managed to wear out on the bike. I cut the original Pirelli Scorpion Sync on a piece of steel in the road at ~4500 miles and had to replace it. I ran over a nail or something with the second one at ~4000 miles and it wouldn't hold a plug. Jlnance gave me a used Continental that had come off his bike that I used for a while. After a few miles I replaced it with another Sync lasted ~6500 miles and was down to the wear bars in the center. I guess that's not too bad. I also got my Honda Ascot out yesterday and washed it (my carport doesn't do a very good job of keeping the dirt off). I had to jump start it today it had been sitting up so long. It was running lousy when I took it for a ride until after about 10 minutes the second cylinder kicked in! I put about 30 miles on the Ascot and then got the Uly and took it out to scrub in the new rear tire. All in all a decent weekend of motorcycle related stuff. |

Hugh, I used electrical tape on the grips on my harbor freight unit. Worked better for griping the wheel than duct tape. But yeah you have to tighten the wheel really really tight in order for it nor to slip. defiantly not as easy as the no-mar videos. |

Hey Nick, I'm definitely going to modify mine somehow before I try it again. I have some heavy rubber strips (~1/4" thick) that I thought I might glue to the grips with contact cement. That'd grip better and protect the wheel. I've heard the trick is to use the No-Mar bar (~$100) with the Harbor Freight changer. I may try that too. |

OOOOOO!!!!! Isn't this just pretty! My little gift to myself that my bike said it was time to do. One week total, wait time and install time combined. Drives nicely but only has about 45 miles on the system. Going to take it easy for sure for a while. This one needs to last for a while! Too much $ to spend regularly.

Every polling place I passed on the way to work yesterday AND on the way home had people lined up down the street waiting to vote. Got home from work about 5:30 PM, picked up my wife and was amazed to find NO line at my precinct. In and out in 5 minutes. |

Hugh- no line outside the poll could be misleading. At my precinct, they moved the whole line inside the church sanctuary because of the rain. If you drove by, you'd see no line and think, "Hey, this will be quick." Once inside you were directed to a pew. A little over an hour later, I was done. |

Same here, line was inside, although wasn't too bad, took me 20 minutes. |

I hope everybody got some riding in this weekend. Marianne and I took the Uly up to Mom's house to get the mail and check on things yesterday. Nice ~120 mile round trip. Got a little chilly on the way back, but otherwise a very nice day for a ride. Today, I installed a set of Lyndall Gold brakepads on the front of my Uly. Took a quick test ride to try the brakes; I like them. Not too bad of a job, but cleaning the brake dust off the pistons in the brake caliper was a b*tch. Not much room to get in there. |

Rubberdown (Mike Warren) from C3 evidently was in a pretty bad wreck yesterday and is in the ICU in Florence, SC (I'd assume McLeod's Hospital). See thread here: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/406 2/412352.html?1226324111 |

Question for everyone here: 1. Its starting to get colder how often does everyone here still ride? I know I ride year long, as long as the bike starts. 2. Whats the lowest temperature you've ridden in? Mine is 28F, it would have been 22 but the bike had problems starting at 22 (wouldn't stay running and was running rough) |

I ride every day that rain chance is 50 percent or less. The lowest I have ridden is 23 degrees on my Kawasaki. I think the lowest on the Blast was 28 to Augusta (68 miles) when the 1K service was due. Lowest on the 9s so far was 30 degrees. BTW anytime the temp is in the low 40's or less I block off the air flow thru the oil cooler on the 9s. (Message edited by rcontroler on November 17, 2008) |

During the winter of 1973-74, I rode my Honda CB160 sixteen miles one-way to a textile mill near Seneca every night except Sunday for the midnight shift. There were a few nights in February that were a little chilly. My right (throttle) hand was frostbitten on a couple of occasions when the temps were in the teens. I was immortal then and sub zero wind chill didn't merit much concern. The hand still aches every time it gets cold and it must have been the memory of those rides that prompted me to buy some Gerbings gear to plug into my newly acquired '07 R1200RT I'm riding back from Waycross, GA on Friday. Heated grips? Damn, the thing has heated seats! |

I've ridden in the 30's quite a few times. I rode my Ascot across Summerville one night about 6 years ago when it was in the 20's, but that was a short ride. I've got a Widder heated vest and gloves now, so I could probably ride colder in comfort. Hey Jim, congrats on the "new" bike. |

Thanks Hugh, I thought I might need an Iron Butt bike for the Alaska trip next summer - 9k miles in 16 days. |

I am still riding most everyday. The lowest temperature for me was 22 one morning on the way to class in Athens. I have had a half dozen or so rides in the upper 20s. Never had much of problem with the bike starting since I kept it in my garage which was about 10-15 degrees cooler than the outside temperature. As far as gear goes for the cold temperature riding, the best thing I have found is Rocky Thermal Underwear. They are pretty much windproof and to an awesome job. I have purchased the upper and the lower that is rated for artic conditions. They are surprisingly lightweight and super warm. I initially bought them for duck hunting, but since have dedicated them to motorcycle riding. |

Likewise for riding into the 20's. I havent taken the buell out below about 35 because it gets hard to crank with that thicker oil in it. I have been riding the Kat now that it is back on the road. I did not ride it yesterday morning when it was about 23 degrees, but I did ride it this morning at 31. I just bundle up and hold on to the muffler and engine cover for warmth on the Kat and under the seat on the Buell. Oh yeah and the coldest is about 27, so far.... |

Good morning from Ga! My wife has convinced me to go to Myrtle Beach for Thanksgiving, so I thought it would be good to pay her back with a trip to a Buell dealer. Is there one that has a good selection of Buell stuff? |

I went to the one in Myrtle Beach back in the summer and I didnt see much/nothing at all there buell related to gear. I may have not looked in the right place but I did walk throughout the store. As for bikes at that time they had about 4 bikes and most were being or had been the rent bikes/demo bikes. Thunder Tower in Columbia has bikes but I havent been there for about 2-3 months now so I dont know about clothing other than a Buell Helmet, which they had only 2 displayed. I dont know what they may have had in the back. As for the other stores in the state, I dont know. Someone else will have to answer. |

Got back from Waycross this PM on the RT. 200 miles in 3 hours. Temps were 57F to 47F at 75-80 mph. Excellent wind protection and the heated grips and seat made the Gerbings gear unnecessary. Hugh and Matt, I'm back in the saddle again! |

Jim- Glad to hear it. Lowcountry's had my bike since Wednesday to fix a leaking rear rocker gasket. It was supposed to be a one-day job, but mechanic got diverted to something else, then kit didn't include 2 gaskets they needed, etc. Supposed to be ready today, which suits me fine; it's not like I've missed out on good riding weather the last few days. One cool thing- I found out Buell added ~4 months to my warranty, evidently because I bought it in December. Chris- yea, we should at a minimum have an SC Buell Riders meet at the show. If the weather's decent maybe we can invite the C3ers and 3%ers make a weekend out of it. Several good roads in the area including 276 up to Caesar's Head, 178, etc. |

That would be pretty cool to have a bunch of Buellers pull in at the same time on Sat. AM. Perhaps meet for breakfast, then the show and a ride in the afternoon or Sunday. |
