"CJ, Have you checked to see if Uke's or Hal's will cover your bike for a warranty claim, like, oh, maybe a broken belt or something?"

I'm sure they will. As long as they don't catch her doing BattleTrax

We work on bikes all the time that were not purchased here, to do otherwise is just bad business. Lots of those riders buy their next bike from us after getting good service.
Dealers get paid to do warranty work, it's not like they have to do it for free!

"it's not like they have to do it for free! "
Some of them act like it is though due to the additional paperwork and claim/payment tracking that's required.

I know and I've never understood that either. The way that it has been explained to me it is a GOOD thing to do warranty work.

I never had problems with Hal's doing warranty work. My bike was purchased at Woodstock H-D/Buell.

Now THERE is the ultimate in "stealerships". The only reason I bought a bike from them is because they don't want Buells on the their showroom floor. No lie!!! The salesman actually told me that straight up. The good news for me was that I got a new 1998 S3T for $10K out the door (including the extended warranty). That was a savings of about $5k.

Sorry, back to the purpose of the post.....

Hal's service always did the warranty work without any hassle. I'm sure they'll do the same for CJ.

Lake,
You obviously use the term "salesman" very loosely.

My main and primary complaint right now is that somebody screwed up big time with the money back guarantee warranty program, to the tune of 80% ruled invalid. Beyond that I have no real major complaints based on personal experience. But a $1000+ snafu is enough justification to make adjustments in my book. And the treatment I've received so far from the woman upstairs is just bitter icing on the moldy cake.

Hal's service has helped out a few people I've sent there for help, even though their scheduling process still needs some tuning.

CJ, Have you checked to see if Uke's or Hal's will cover your bike for a warranty claim, like, oh, maybe a broken belt or something?

Hals will so long as she doesnt mind getting there at 5am & hoping she gets one of the few coveted spots. With Ukes it all depends on their mood. The dealer has a lot of room when it comes to warranty judegement calls & whatnot. But if they have a bug up their ass you can forget it. I have known too many people...in my local HOG chapter alone..who have been burned by Ukes service dept.

If I was the local dealers I would be thinking "what the hell are these folks driving 5 hrs away to purchase for?". Hell the director & his wife of the Ukes HOG chapter have both purchased their Ultra & a Roadglide from a different dealer than Ukes.

Mike...I dont think Buell will ever publically state that B-trax will not violate your warranty. Notice how all the anons who love to poke their nose into this site all the time, didnt have 1 damn thing to say in any of the postings regarding that topic. I know some of the folks & dealerships who put B-trax events on will state "dont worry, your warranty is fine", but the truth is when it comes down to it & you end up with some problems your warranty can be denied, & they have done so in the past. Im not saying Dave would do this, he is a hell of a guy, but he also neither owns the dealership nor calls the shots for HD/Buell. If they state "no its not covered", then thats that.

Some of the folks on this site are ordering up drummer pipes & ecms & bragging how if they have an issue they will simply remove the parts & take the bike to the dealership with the stock ones in place. Hey people, perhaps you arent aware of this, but of the Buell oriented websites out there, this is the one that HD/Buell monitors. They actually have folks copying the posts & keeping track of who is doing what. You have any issues & they will pull out copies of your posts & tell you just what you supposedly did to your bike.

As far as the Hals brag membership deals go..looks like everyone is jumping ship. Cant say I dont blame them either. But Mike also stated the Buell owners perhaps have a touch of wanderlust...its no different in the HOG world. You have this core group of individuals at each dealership that keep the ship upright, they are there year in & year out. Then you have all the folks who buy bikes & get real involved for about a year or 2 & then its kinda old & they just fade away. I have always wondered why we can 3000-5000 bikes right here in town for a ride up to Milwaukee for the 95th or the 100th, we can have 100+ bikes for a poker run at a bar, yet when it comes to HOG rides you are lucky to get 20-30 bikes.

I know one of the problems is it is very regimented. They plan & plan & plan some more. The fun is actually taken out of the rides by all the planning, the pre-rides, etc etc. And no variation at all. Its the same shit year in & year out. Ride to Baraboo, ride to Dubuque, chili cook off, etc. These folks are so against change that 1 year they wouldnt do the ride to Baraboo because the free ferry was closed & their ride just had to include it. The used to do a yearly Lacrosse over nighter, then the hotel they always stayed at closed up. They wouldnt stay at another hotel so simply canceled the ride.

Mike...did ya get my e-mail?
Jerry..will e-mail you later.

Well I'm relieved to see Lake and Dyna seem to think warranty work won't be a problem at Hal's !!

And the treatment I've received so far from the woman upstairs

I sure hate to say this, but sometimes it is better to deal with a man, women can be so bitchy and over emotional and defensive !!!

women can be so bitchy and over emotional and defensive !!!

There is that women at Hals in the parts dept...dark hair dont know her name. I needed a few parts when I was rebuilding the forks, seals washers, etc. I told her I needed seals & immediately she disappears into the back & comes back with 2 seals...I hadnt even finished telling her what else I needed. So she comes back & I tell her the next thing I need & she gets this major bitch attitude all of a sudden like Im wasting her time, tells me "what all do you need honey?" But says it super bitchy...I tell her forget it, dont need a damn thing now. I drive my ass all the way down to lakeshore HD to get the parts, I do not need & will not accept that type of attitude from anyone, male or female.

Sorry CJ, that applies to both genders as well as a lot of other undesirable traits that men exhibit aren't exclusively "male" either.
