Hey Matt- Mama seems to be doing a little better. She is responding to the nurses' commands which is good. She's breathing on her own so they took her off the ventilator late yesterday. I'm sure she's still "got a long row to hoe" but so far, so good. |

Thats good to hear that she is making progress. All I hope is that the progress continues and she gets back to 100% health. Still in our thoughts and prayers Hugh. |

Hugh, new guy here. Reading about your mom, and my prayers are with you and your family. I moved from Mount Pleasant to Summerville when my mom needed more attention. We ended up moving her to Royal Oaks - right by you behind Arby's. It's a nice enough place, the staff are really nice. Hope everything goes alright. |

Thanks for all the prayers and good wishes. Mama was able to talk to us a little today and afterwards we talked to the doctor for a good while. He is not very optimistic about her long-term outlook and says she will almost certainly have memory loss and personality changes from the injury to her brain. She's having some trouble breathing and is a long ways from being able to eat. My mother has had pretty much everything you could have (breast cancer X2, quadruple heart bypass X2, back surgery X2, pacemaker and pacemaker replacement). If it's possible for an 89 year old lady to get through something like this, she'll do it. OTOH it may be time for her to go to a well-deserved rest; she misses my Dad and her brothers and sisters so much. Thanks again for your thoughts and prayers. |

Just got back from MUSC. My mom passed away today about 1 PM. I think she was ready to go. I was glad that she went peacefully and that I was there with her. Thanks to all for your prayers. |

Hey, I saw another Uly in Summerville yesterday. It was a yellow one with hardbags. It was on 17-A headed south turning into WalMart about 5:30 yesterday afternoon. Anybody seen this one around? |

Hey guys, I rode up to Camden yesterday afternoon and spent the evening with my sister. While we were out at supper, a guy noticed my Buell T-shirt and asked me if I rode one. He said he had a 97 S3T. I should have told him to check out BadWeb but I didn't think of it. This morning, I rode on up to Carolina Motorsports Park near Kershaw (~15 miles north of Camden) and met Rubberdown from the C3'ers who was there for a track day the US Desmo Club (Ducati) was having. I saw lots of cool bikes and had a nice day chilling out in the bright October sun (got a red face to show for it too!). It was a little chilly for the ride back, but not bad. CMP doesn't look like the best place to view an event; you can only see a small portion of the track from the viewing areas. OTOH it's a very nice facility. I think all the motorcycle racing is done for this year, but we should have a group ride up there to watch a race sometime next year. Link to CMP's website: http://www.carolinamotorsportspark.com/ |

Hugh that sounds like an excellent idea. I was going to try and make a trip up there this past summer to watch the bikes but as expected, I didnt make it out there. I would be up for the ride. |

You guys need to check out the C3 page of GlitchCo. I'm sure he could do the same for SCBR if you send him your logo! http://www.cafepress.com/GlitchCo |

Had a great ride home yesterday. Had an unfortunate issue at a fortunate location. My 2000 mile old belt decided to let go on me yesterday leaving a light (unfortunate). I was only about .25 miles from my dads work (fortunate). The best part is I am going to upgrade now. There was no reason for the frikin thing to do that. I had not been driving it hard. The original POS had 8800 miles before it broke and I was punishing it. Oh well the stuff should be here early next week, hopefully monday, and then I can get it back on the road. Meanwhile its riding in the cage and working on the Kat. Luckily dad had the Kawi and not the lightning. I would have definately had to call someone to come pick me up then. Riding two up sucks. I want to be in control, but he is the only one I trust. |

Kinda want to duck down and hope no one recognizes you while two-up (when you always ride solo). Glad to have been of service and glad to know I am trustworthy too...Think I'll keep the Kaw for a while and hope it isn't needed for a future duty like yesterday. But if so, it is ready. |

Dang, I have yet to have a belt break. Anyone else had this problem? Buellkat, are you changing to a chain drive? What do you mean by "upgrade"? |

Darren- Those 03 belts are weird. Barker had an original 1st generation 03 belt he abused for ~30,000 miles with NO belt guards before it finally gave up. Others have been like you and gone through multiple upgraded belts in a short time. So you're going to do the 04-up upgrade? The latest 09 Goodyear belts are supposed to be even better, using some improvements gleaned from the 1125R program. Hey, any interest in getting some SC Buell Riders stuff from Glitchco? |

Eryc, the 03 belts were made by Gates and have been pretty problematic, especially the very early ones. They had to be handled VERY carefully prior to and during installation and even with that they would fail for no apparent reason. Gates came out with a better belt later in 03 which has worked OK for some people, then in 04 Buell switched to Goodyear as the belt supplier. A lot of 03 riders have upgraded to the 04-up Goodyear belt which requires new pulleys front and rear and some other odds and ends. Goodyear still seems to come up with improved belts almost every year (I guess they're still learning) but at least the belts are all compatible once you go to the new pulleys. The original belt on my Uly was showing cracks at 8000 miles so I replaced it and kept the old one as an emergency spare. **So far** the replacement looks like new at ~6500 miles. [If my belt breaks in the next week I KNOW it will be because I said something!] |

Im going with the 04+ upgrade from Am. Sport Bike. I get the nice shiney sprockets and a new pulley and the improved belt and also the new belt guards. Pretty expensive though. All I hope is that I am able to get my money's worth out of this system. I sure didn't get much of my money out of that $180 belt that I bought 2000 miles ago. At least when I ordered the stuff yesterday afternoon, the order was out for shipping yesterday as well and was on the truck this morning leaving CA with a scheduled delivery date of Monday the 27th. Wow this is going to be a neat birthday gift that I was forced to buy for myself! Was not interested with the chain upgrade. I have enough chains on the Kat, one is enough, but they don't break as easily. As for Glitchco, I don't know. I am having trouble getting myself to buy a Buell shirt. I have been wanting one but haven't taken the time to order any since I can't go to a dealer in town and pick one out. MAYBE one day!!! |
