Yep, I'm riding too. We might need to adjust the route depending on the gas situation. Might be easier to find gas in upstate SC than around Aiken. Hopefully it won't be a problem by Thursday anyway. |

about the gas situation here. a few days ago there was only 3 gas stations in town that had gas and they only had 87, this weekend all the gas stations are now filled up and a few of them even have premium. So at least here in Aiken things are looking better, but the gas is still 4 bucks a gallon. |

Nick- thanks very much for the update. I was going to PM you and ask. I think I will grab some octane boost before I head out. |

Hugh, What do you guys use for octane boost? Just wonder what works. Have not had to buy any yet... |

Donald- I haven't bought any yet. I've seen some that's available in "ketchup" sized packets that seems like it'd be real handy for motorcycle usage. You can throw a handful of them in your tank bag and they're supposed to be about the right size for 3 or 4 gallons of gas. |

I know it has been debated... but I don't think octane rating matters that much in the Buell. Unless it is really hot, anything above 87 should be fine. I always run 92-93, but I don't think it would hurt to run less. I am planning on having 25-30 gallons of 93 on reserve with us on the trip. |

I run 89 in all temps including the hottest. Haven't noticed any noises or performance losses. But again mine is, what folks have said, a rather rare species: bone stock Buell. Thanks for the info. guys.... |

Hugh We're leaving West Columbia around 8:00 or 8:15. I need to see where our paths may cross. Will check later today and try to get back to you. Any variation from the route you posted awhile back? |

Called ProMoto Sports in Woodstock, the dealer sponsoring a KTM demo ride at TWO this weekend. They plan to haul gas up for their demo bikes but said if things stay the way they are, finding gas around Suches will be a "challenge." |

Donald, AFAIK, we're still going 61 to 78 to Aiken, then I-20 to highway 78 N to 129 to 60 to Suches. I'd guess you'll be about 30 to 45 minutes ahead of us. |

more on Aiken Gas. I was driving around today and most gas stations around town are out of gas (again) the BP's around town always seem to have gas, It appears the one downtown still has premium. Hopefully the gas stations around here will get a fill up before you guys come rolling through. I have a friend in Atlanta, she says its hard finding gas stations with gas and not a hour long wait. |

Hugh, Looks as if our paths will cross at the intersection of 378 and 78 in Washington. Given the 8:30 blastoff you now have, what time do you think guys might be there? In the meantime I did the Mapquest thing with both routes and compared driving times. According to that, my guess is you will get along there about noon?? We are bringing 35 gallons of gas for the weekend. Let me know now if you need us to haul some for you. We have a tank that will hold 60 gallons. Weather is looking great for the weekend. No rain in the forecast. Pretty cold in the mornings though, lower 40's. Yall don't forget about meeting at the Suches convenience store at 12 noon on Saturday. Hugh and Matt yall should have my cell number, if you do not send me PM and I will get it to you. |

Well my morning did not start off well. I ended up going down on the kat this morning. Wet grass doesnt really work to well under those kind of tires. The entrance ramp to the interstate made a sharp hook, one that I have only taken about once or twice. When the road disappears from in front of you at 50-55 mph what do you do except hope for the best. I decided to straighten up instead of try and turn through the rocks and crap that accumulate at the outer edges of the ramp. When the road disappeared I knew things were going to get bad. As soon as I got on the grass, it went out from up under me, front end first. Hit my head really hard on the ground and rolled a lot, I quit counting after about 5 times. One things for sure, my gloves, jacket, and helmet sure helped me come out unscathed except for the pain in the neck and head and elbow and some back pain between the shoulders. Got some good pain killers. Any way you wont ever have to tell me to ride with my helmet on cause if I didnt have it on for some stupid reason, I dont ever ride without it anyway, I would probably not be able to write this just because of a head injury. Thanking God for how it turned out! The bike was ride-able. It suffered cracked plastics and scratches and a dent in muffler and it was bent into the rear fender. It did not bend any of the handle bars but I think it did twist the top tree some. I looks a little twisted when I was riding it home. I am OK though and will be riding tomorrow to buelltoberfest!! |

Owww! Glad that didn't turn out worse than it did. I just picked up a bottle of octane boost for the weekend. Hope to see some of you in Suches. Matt- see you between 8 and 8:30. Nick- please give us a gas update from Aiken if you check in tonight. |

I don't know about the south side of town, the two north side gas stations have gas, I think the BP still has premium. Good luck guys! |

Darren, I am glad you are alright. Things could have been much worse, thank God there was not a guard rail. The soreness will likely catch up to you today. I hope that it is not too bad and you can still make it to Suches this weekend. Yall, reminder number 4 or 5. Do not forget, Suches convenience store at noon on Saturday. Be sure to bring warm clothes. It is supposed to be lows of 45 all weekend. It is 37 this morning. |

It's good to start hearing that you all had a good time. Hope everyone posts when they get home. The poker run was fun - pushed me to new accomplishments. When we finished at the barn, we had the best burgers I have ever eaten. Okay, so it doesn't compare with your weekend! I'm sure you all had a great time. |

I am back! Don, Eryc, Darren and others, sorry i couldnt go riding with you guys, but we needed to get danny taken care of. I had a great time, and i cant wait for march. I will be throwing the buell in the back of my truck instead of riding up though. Eryc, let me know when you want to go play some trivia. My front rotor started to pulse bad on the way home, so i guess its high time i get the xb front end on my cyclone. Overall an excellent weekend, cant wait to do it again. |
