Matt, It's cool that you and your dad ride together. I got onto 526 @ N Rhett and was in front of you in an old blue/primer gray/rust GMC pickup truck. I tried to slow down and get a look but that would have screwed traffic up. Hope you enjoyed the ride. Jeff |

Matt, The sign on the feed store says the 4th of October is the new date of the poker run. It sounds as if I will be the only one around! Wish I could join you all in Suches. |

Anyone interested in going to trivia tonight at the Wild Wing on Rivers Ave? Starts at 9:00 so we should get there by 8:45. I am trying to get some dudes from Summerville to ride from another charlestonfishing.com. Should be fun. |

Not only is the party over on Wall Street, but it looks like it's over for Bike Week as well. Myrtle Beach just passed a bunch of anti-biking/resident friendly ordinances dealing with noise, helmets, parking, etc. http://www.cityofmyrtlebeach.com/newordinances.htm l |

Yeah, its pretty ridiculous up here in MB. I really can’t believe that the City would be that stupid to bite the hand that feeds them, especially during times like these. The City's lawyer has already said that they will probably get sued over the mandatory helmet ordinance since it goes against the State Law. And when it goes to court, the lawyer gets paid by the MB tax payers $$. Horrible. But the County and North Myrtle Beach have not taken the same action. So they will still have the rallies, but try to keep it out of the City Limits. They already got rid of all the parking lot Vendor Permits at Broadway at the Beach for the Spring Rally. I’ve been living here for 10 years now, and this makes me want to move to somewhere that doesn’t discriminate against bikers. We’ll see how the Fall Rally turns out next weekend. |

Scbuellkat, I am staying on the other side of Suches off of HWY 60, just a couple of miles past where the C3 are staying. Trust me... there will be plenty of riding. However, the ride b/w Dahlonega and Suches is not the good part. Encounter a fair amount of traffic and neighborhoods there. Alright everyone else, we need to set up a SCBR ride or lunch run. There is a really good Irish Pub downtown Dahlonega. What say ye??? |

Ok. I've never been to this area so I dont really know what it is like but I am sure I am going to enjoy it for sure. I have heard a lot of good talk about it. I am in for a meeting. As far as I'm concerned, all we need to do is just find the place and say a time. Im not picky as long as the food is great and dont mess the stomach up |

Irish Pub in downtown Dahlonega sounds great PROVIDED we allow one hour per brewski before we start riding again. N GA mountains is NOT the place to be riding buzzed. |

Well, I guess I better pull the trigger on a bike early next week or I'll be stuck here. And if they don't get the gas situation straightened out in the mountains by next weekend, there could be a lot of bike pushing and downhill coasting in neutral. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26907046/ |

Holy crap- that would suck if there are fuel problems in NE GA. My daughter lives in Nashville and said they had major shortages this week. OTOH we haven't had any problems here, and I just drove to Norfolk, VA and back this week and saw no signs of gas shortages (in fact, prices were ~20 cents/gallon cheaper in Norfolk). We better check with the 3%ers and see what the situation is like in Suches. |

Hugh- I heard the areas with ports are not affected as much because almost all fuel destined for the interior is off-loaded there first before being trucked inland. I would guess areas like the mountains are at the end of the line in the distribution chain. I'd definitely call the station at Suches before heading out. I can't remember the next closest station, Dahlonega? |

I posted in the 3% forum- they say there are definite shortages around Atlanta. Evidently premium is much harder to fine than 87 octane, so now octane booster is getting scarce too. I think I may at least grab a can or some packets of that before we leave. |

Last time I was in Suches the convenience store was out. There is another gas station down 60 at the Cooper Creek convenience store, but it is like $.20 more a gallon. Alright, so let's plan on eating at that pub. The serve soft drinks and I do not plan on drinking. However, we can hold tight if someone decides to have one. I have had a few things there and have been very, very impressed with the food. I say let's meet at the Suches convience store at 12 noon on Saturday. Any objections? |

Eryc- Noon Saturday works for me (and wife) too. Is the place you're talking about called Wylie's? That's the closest thing I can find to an Irish pub in Dahlonega. |

Man, I've been looking around on the web- looks like we may be dealing with gas shortages in N GA. Evidently gas is very hard to find in Aiken, Augusta, and Atlanta; no idea about Suches yet. If anybody's trailering up it might be a good idea to throw a few cans of gas on the back. This story implies this will be a short-term problem: http://www.ajc.com/metro/content/metro/stories/200 8/09/28/gas_shortage_explainer.html Hopefully things will be better away from the major cities and maybe cleared up completely in another week. |

I have one guy in my crew who is trailering. He will be loaded down with gasoline. If any of yall are not trailering let me know and we will bring extra. Hugh, the name of the joint is Shenanigan's Irish Pub. I know it is kind of in a basement downtown, the food is good, and I know how to get there. That is about it. |
