There's a couple friends coming over from England - also Buell-ers and they'll be staying over in the Anaheim area starting the 23rd for about 3-4 days. I thought it'd be fun to give them a "Buell-ish" welcome since we'd only been trading quips on the Brit Buell board (http://www.ukbeg.com)and hadn't yet met. This is a couple and their son here on business and they thought it'd be fun to connect with some similarly-inclined crazies for a dinner and chat while they're here. Any takers? They're staying at: Holiday Inn ANAHEIM-RESORT 1915 S. Manchester Ave ANAHEIM, CA 92802 Rumor has it that there's a restaurant or two in the Anaheim area. They're pretty much open any day they're here |

If anyone is interested, there is A BRAG ride this weekend Sponsored by Quaid HD/Temecula Road Warriors. This will be our first organized ride and definitely not or last. Details are, meet at Quaids in Temecula @8:30am Sunday morning, Do approx 100+ miles on very nice route, which I can't wait to see the rest of it (only had time to ride part of it), Return to Quaids to talk smack and have refreshments. |

Let it be known, everyone is invited, BRAG member or not. Everyone has to sign a liability waiver for the ride anyway. This'll be a humdinger of a ride (possibly 2 rides - if you don't know what I mean by this, come down & check it out! The details have been hinted at in previous posts here regarding this ride.). If you're not down for the ride, just come out for the refreshments and meet everybody. We're all in it for the fun. The more the merrier, right? I'm sure the dealer would like to know how much interest there is going on with the brand new Road Warriors BRAG club. Jerry Johnson, we owe it all to you (Barbara B. & Dwayne M. too). Sparky |

I'm sorrt that I'm going to have to miss this event and Willow, unfortunately. I have a family get together that I must go to. I know, I know, my priorities are all out of wack, but life happens to interfere with my riding here and there. James You all have a fun and safe time. |

OK OK, crashing sucks. Stuffed the Buell in Turn 8 in today's race. For those of you familiar with Willow - turn 8 is pretty dang fast. Sheesh, just when I was getting comfortable passing in 8, I see a chance to head to the outside of a gixxer and well... he sorta takes an unexpectdly wide line and bumps the front tire before I came around him (no way he knew I was there) - about 3 violent wobbles and I found myself bouncing in the dirt in T8!! HOOOOoooowwwwwEEEEEE! That's an E-ticket ride but a tad more uncomfortable than Disneyland. I don't prefer passing on the outside but there was ALL THIS UNUSED TRACK!!! Oh well... I didn't realize how badly my bell was rung or how the adrenaline was affecting me til I got back in the pits and just knew I had to get the other bike back out for middleweight novice!! (I had just run it before hopping onto the Buell for Heavyweight)... my buddy there said "Slaughter, look me in the eyes (pointing) - you already RACED the SV, YOU'RE DONE for the day!! Take off your SH!T, get some water and get to medical!! About then I started to realize I really was acting stupid. Nothing busted on me - can't say the same for the Buell. Sure as heck didn't get the 2 points I needed to complete my Novice obligation. Well, the SV is running fine - even if the Buell isn't together next month, I'll still be racing. Sheeesh - as often as I have late-braked into 3 and 5, I figured there would be the place I'd likely stuff one into the dirt - not 8!! Tomorrow starts the full-body hangover. Good seein' y-alls! See you in November. Now I gotta wait ANOTHER month for F50! All I can say is that I'm glad the other rider stayed up (probably didn't even know he dumped me) - what can I say??? I just blew the pass. Glad the stiffness is all I end up with after a T-8 getoff.

Steve- Good to hear you're OK. What gear / RPM were you at? I know Willow (used to know streets like the back of my hand) from a 4 wheeled perspective but not 2. Man, if anyone saw Bayliss's off - he was looking like a rag doll. I repeat - glad you're OK. -Saro |

Thanks folks for the thoughts. Shouldn't be too bad a recovery. Did crack the top of the Ulna (small fore arm bone) but its just a matter of keeping it splinted for 6 weeks (except for the November race) Going to put a lever-throttle on the S3 so I don't need to use my wrist for the BRAG ride this Sunday. Tim and Candice were talking about a Crest run up to Todd's Cal Sportbike in Wrightwood. He always records races to play on the big screen. He's doing better slowly since his SUV rolled coming back from Thunderhill. Be good to see him again. Saro - I was in 5th gear in 8. On Willow, I hit 5th gear in turn 7 and am still accellerating slightly into T8. They advise Novices NOT to slow down entering T8 if you don't want what Danny Farnsworth calls a "sizzling Pirelli Enema" - you can really maintain a lot of speed and people not used to the track really back off a lot so you can do some passing there - also 9 looks like it has to be taken a lot slower than it really does so really seems that in novice, a lot of people back off early coming out of 8 going into 9. Problem is that frigging 8 is soooo fast. 5th gear and accelerating hard, I probably hit the ground about 120 or so. Tony, Tim let me try his ex-Hal's S1 just up and down the street. That bike is going to be some kinda fun on the track! Really only got to run it up to 3rd... but you can feel the bike wants to run! She needs to be on the track and SOON edited by slaughter on October 22, 2003 |

Slaughter-Did you set a dinner date with your Brit friends yet? I'm only 10 minutes from their hotel. I'm not much of a conversationalist but I would try and make it if I'm available. Erik |
